REVIEW: Summerslam 2014: The Biggest Fight Of The Summer

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Summerslam 2014 Date: August 17, 2014 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Attendance: 14,079 Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield, Jerry Lawler Time for a redo of a show with a main event billed as the Biggest Fight of the Summer. The more I think of that line, the more I like it. The main event here is Cena (subbing for the injured Bryan) defending against Brock Lesnar, who is having his first match since breaking the Streak. Interestingly enough, I don’t even remember another match fr..

REVIEW: No Way Out 2007: They’re Still Pretending

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? No Way Out 2007 Date: February 18, 2007 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Attendance: 14,000 Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s that show where WWE pretends that it matters while showing us a commercial for Wrestlemania. The main event is a tag match between the Wrestlemania main events, which should be a quality though unimportant match. Other than that, we are getting a Divas Talent Show, which should be as exciting as it sounds. Let’s get to it. The opening video focuses on..

SmackDown Live Coverage And Results – December 10, 2021

Smackdown Date: December 10, 2021 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee We’re on the way to Day One and that means some more of the show needs to be put together. The main event of Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Title is now set, but we are now missing a Jeff Hardy, who was released earlier this week. That could shake things up a bit so let’s get to it. Here is Sami Zayn, in a wheelchair/leg cast/neck brace, with two male nurses pushing him to the ring. After a video on last week’s big beatdown at the hands of Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, Sami says he is the toughest man in WWE. Sami talks about how this isn’t necessarily a conspiracy, but he was betrayed last week….and now he has to sue. He promises to sue everyone involved with last week but here is Paul Heyman to interrupt. Heyman: “You’re doing my people’s shtick. My people own entertainment in Hollywood.” Sami tells him to get out of his camera shot but Heyma..

Brock Lesnar Is Coming Back To WWE TV This Year

Welcome back. There are a lot of wrestlers in the world today but only a handful make any kind of real impact. You see some wrestlers who just grab your attention no matter what and it can be fascinating almost every time. That is certainly the case with Brock Lesnar, though it is not clear when he will be getting back in the ring. We do however know when he will be back on WWE television. The Staples Center Twitter account has announced that Brock Lesnar has vowed to buy a ringside seat for the upcoming SmackDown in Los Angeles on December 10. This will be Lesnar’s first appearance since October 23, when Lesnar attacked Adam Pearce and was suspended as a result. There is no word on when Lesnar will be back in the ring, though the Royal Rumble has been rumored. The suspended Brock Lesnar vows to buy a ringside seat in Los Angeles for @WWE Friday Night Smackdown on December 10! REVIEW: No Mercy 2017: The Cena vs. Reigns Showdown

No Mercy 2017 Date: September 24, 2017 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Commentators: Michael Cole, Booker T., Corey Graves I don’t remember being this excited for a B pay per view in a very long time. This show is all about the double main event with a combination of Brock Lesnar defending the Universal Title against Braun Strowman and John Cena vs. Roman Reigns in one heck of a big time match. That should be more than enough to carry this show so let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Elias vs. Apollo ..

WrestleMania 37 Weekend Facing Major Scheduling Conflict, Venue May Be Changed

The more things change. WrestleMania 36 took place about five months ago and it is a show that almost no one will forget. The biggest wrestling show of the year was forced to take place in front of no fans due to the Coronavirus pandemic, leaving the show feeling like it was taking place in a glorified warehouse. It was WrestleMania, but it certainly didn’t feel like one. Now things might not even be ready for next year either. We are less than seven months away from WrestleMania 37 and it is long past time to start making preparations for the show. WWE needs to know what they are going to do as far as the card goes, but they also need to know what they are going to do as far as holding the show. The Coronavirus has changed a lot of things and now it might have changed some more as far as everything else going on over the big weekend. According to Wrestlinginc.com, the Staples Center, which is the scheduled venue for SmackDown, Takeover and Monday Night Raw over WrestleMania weekend ..

REVIEW: WrestleMania 21: We’re The New Generation

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Wrestlemania XXI Date: April 3, 2005 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Attendance: 20,193 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, Tazz It’s the big one as things have to change at some point in WWE. I’m curious to see how this show goes as I haven’t seen the television leading up to it since the show aired so maybe the show will feel a little bit different. The theme is Wrestlemania Goes Hollywood, which has included some outstanding movie parody trailers. Oh and Batista an..

205 Live Results – November 21, 2018

205 Live Date: November 21, 2018 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Commentators: Percy Watson, Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness We’re into a new area on this show as Buddy Murphy successfully defended the Cruiserweight Title against Mustafa Ali this Sunday at Survivor Series. That means we need a new challenger, but I can’t imagine that takes place tonight. 205 Live likes to set things up at a slightly slower pace and you never know when they’ll have their next title match anyway. Let’s get to it. The opening recap focuses on the pretty awesome title match with Ali coming up short again. Opening sequence. Here’s Buddy Murphy to get things going. Buddy has a question: did you really think Mustafa Ali was going to beat him? Well it doesn’t matter because the people’s opinion doesn’t matter to him. You can’t stop the unstoppable, but here’s Tony Nese to stop him from saying anything else, albeit in a nice way. Tony Nese vs. Noam Dar Before the match, Dar says he’s here to..

Main Event Results – November 22, 2018

Main Event Date: November 22, 2018 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Commentators: Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson It’s a holiday week and that means things were being done a little differently this time around. The main focus was the fallout from Survivor Series which…was odd. There were some good moments though and that could make for some interesting choices in the highlight department. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Ember Moon vs. Alicia Fox Fox flips her down to start but Moon is right back up, much to Fox’s annoyance. A headscissors has Moon in more trouble and there’s a shot to the face for bad measure. Back up and Moon charges into some boots in the corner, followed by a hair pull to the mat. There’s a flipping neckbreaker to keep Moon in trouble. The chinlock goes on with Moon being pulled back down by the hair. Moon makes the comeback with some flying forearms but Fox gets two off a big boot. Ember hits Wade Barrett’s spinning suplex out of t..

Mixed Match Challenge Results – November 20, 2018

Mixed Match Challenge Date: November 20, 2018 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Commentators: Michael Cole, Renee Young, Vic Joseph We’ve actually arrived at a turning point here with the last night of the regular season. After tonight we move into the playoffs, which should make things a little bit better. Unfortunately we’re getting the four winless teams battling it out for a spot in the final four, because going 1-3 is good enough to get a spot in the playoffs. Let’s get to it. The announcers talk about the prizes. Raw Division: Alicia Fox/Jinder Mahal vs. Bobby Roode/Natalya The losers are out and the Singh Brothers are all banged up from Brock Lesnar destroying them last week. The guys start things off and the fans are behind Bobby in what feels like a rare occurrence. Roode shakes off a wristlock and starts chopping away but can’t hit the Glorious DDT. It’s off to the women with Fox getting caught in a slingshot atomic drop, minus Natalya sticking her knee out..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – November 21, 2018

NXT Date: November 21, 2018 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Commentators: Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson After everything that went down on Saturday, it’s time for a little breather. That tends to be the best thing that you can get the week after Takeover and that’s even better the day before a holiday. There are some matches from before Saturday’s Takeover, which tend to be pretty entertaining in their own right. Let’s get to it. We open with the traditional long form recap of Takeover. Opening sequence. Keith Lee vs. Fidel Bravo The fans sing about basking in Lee’s glory so the much smaller Bravo shoves him in the fans and demands respect. Lee takes him into the corner for a double chop to the chest, followed by the Supernova for the pin at 1:59. Result: Keith Lee b. Fidel Bravo – Supernova (1:59) Video on Kairi Sane vs. Shayna Baszler. Baszler doesn’t want to talk about Duke and Shafir getting involved in her match. We look back at Kassius Oh..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – November 19, 2018

Monday Night Raw Date: November 19, 2018 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Renee Young It’s night three in Los Angeles and we’re on the side that won. Last night at Survivor Series, Raw completely swept Smackdown in the battle for brand supremacy. Therefore, you can expect a heck of a lot of bragging this week, which likely means Stephanie time. We’re less than a month away from TLC, while likely means no Brock time. Let’s get to it. Here’s Baron Corbin to open things up…and he introduces Stephanie. She wants to soak it in a bit because last night they proved they were the best. Tonight they’re celebrating but first Corbin wants Stephanie to follow through on her promise of making his position permanent. Instead here’s Braun Strowman to interrupt. He wants his match with Corbin so Stephanie makes the match for TLC. She throws in a bonus though: if Corbin wins he’s permanent GM but if he loses, he loses all authority. Strowman..

Survivor Series 2018 Live Coverage And Results

Survivor Series 2018 Date: November 18, 2018 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Commentators: Michael Cole, Renee Young, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips We’re finally here after what felt like the longest, most eventful two week build I’ve ever seen. The theme of the night is Raw vs. Smackdown and that likely means a lot of bantering between the commentators about the scoreboard and brand supremacy, which is all that matters around here. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Raw Tag Teams vs. Smackdown Tag Team Raw: Bobby Roode/Chad Gable (captains), Revival, B-Team, Lucha House Party, Ascension Smackdown: Usos (captains), New Day Colons, Good Brothers, Sanity New Day handles the Smackdown introductions. Gable and Roode on the other hand promise a glorious victory. If one member of a team is eliminated, their partner is gone as well. Epico and Kalisto start things off with Kalisto tweaking his leg while flipping out of a belly to back suplex. Woods: “SWEEP THE LEG!..

NXT Takeover: WarVideo games II Live Coverage And Results

Takeover: WarGames II Date: November 17, 2018 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Commentators: Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson Yeah I think this is going to do just fine. Not counting the show’s namesake match, it’s a big card with a 2/3 falls title match, an NXT Title match and what could be a heck of a grudge match. As usual, NXT knows how to present a big card with all the junk trimmed off to give us the best show possible. Let’s get to it. The opening video looks at the four matches on the card, with WarGames getting a little more attention than everything else. The announcers preview the show with Mauro talking about Stan Lee passing away and comparing the main event to the Infinity War. Here’s Matt Riddle, who isn’t scheduled to be on the show. He’s supposed to face Kassius Ohno on NXT this Wednesday but since they have a ring….two rings right here, let’s do this right now. Ohno comes out and says ring the bell. Kassius Ohno vs. Matt Riddle Bell,..
