He’ll be back? The rise of AEW has changed the way the wrestling landscape as there is now a new major promotion where top stars can go. After decades of WWE dominance, AEW offers a brand new place for wrestlers to try their hand on a big stage. Several WWE stars have already made the jump, but now another one may be considering a return somewhere down the road. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Nope. Wrestling Legend Confirms His In-Ring Career Is Over Former WWE star CJ Perry, better known as Lana, appeared on the Mike Wennmacher Show and talked about her husband, AEW star Miro, who wrestled in WWE as Rusev. Perry said she believed Miro would return to WWE one day, saying that “Rusev Day will never die.” She went on to say that no matter what name or gimmick or character Miro is given, it would wind up being iconic. Perry wrapped it up by saying everyone returned to WWE at some point. Miro definitely had some good times in WWE. Check out some of his better moments with the company: [This po..
They had an idea. Stables are a concept that has worked in wrestling for decades and continues to do so to this day. It makes a lot of sense as well, as a stable allows several people with anywhere from identical to even somewhat related goals a chance to be on television together. WWE has used them for years, but there was one reincarnation that they passed on instead. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: VIDEO: Kurt Angle’s Huge Birthday Celebration Continues After SmackDown Ends Back in 2015, a group of international stars joined forces as the League Of Nations. The team, comprised of Wade Barrett, Rusev, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio, were a force in WWE until April 2016 when they split up for good. During an appearance on the 10 Count podcast, former WWE Superstar Mojo Rawley revealed that WWE had considered relaunching the League Of Nations with Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura and himself. Rawley did not say when this would have taken place or how far along the plans went. Rawley’s role in the group..
Things have changed. There have been a lot of changes throughout the wrestling world this year and nothing has come close to Vince McMahon retiring from WWE. McMahon leaving the company is the kind of game changer that you do not see take place in wrestling and now there is a new regime in charge. A former WWE star has an interesting take on the two regimes. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Where It Hurts: Vince McMahon Allegedly Paid Manager Only $100 For WrestleMania Following McMahon’s retirement from WWE, Triple H became one of the powerful names in the company. Former WWE star CJ Perry, known as Lana during her time in the company, spoke with Wrestlinginc.com, spoke about the differences between the two. Perry said that Triple H had given women opportunities as a manager, while McMahon was “more traditional”. According to Perry, McMahon almost did not let her manage Miro (Rusev in WWE) because ‘a hot girl can’t be with a heel guy, or he’ll get cheered’. Perry and Miro worked together from..
Crown Jewel Date: November 2, 2018 Location: King Saud University, Stadium, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Renee Young We’re back on the other side of the world this time and things aren’t exactly going well. The focal point of the show is D-Generation X vs. the Brothers of Destruction with Shawn Michaels coming out of retirement in a detail that has been forgotten in the whole ordeal. Other than that we’re going to have a new Universal Champion today as Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar face off for the title vacated by Roman Reigns. Let’s get to it. The video screen is in the shape of a crown for a nice touch. Kickoff Show: United States Title: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Rusev Nakamura is defending. Rusev throws him into the corner for some right hands and a shoulder to the ribs, followed by a suplex for one. A kick to the knee cuts Rusev down and we hit the front facelock. That stays on for a good while until Rusev pops up with a spinwheel kick. The Mach..
At least he had a reason. The biggest wrestling story of the year has been the departure of Vince McMahon from WWE. After nearly four decades of McMahon in charge of the company, he has finally stepped down and handed the reins off to someone else. That has caused quite a few changes and now we have a better idea about one of McMahon’s less well received decisions. CJ Perry, formerly known as Lana in WWE, recently appeared on In The Kliq to talk about some of her time in WWE. Perry mentioned the Rusev Day story, which took place in 2017-18 and saw Rusev become one of the more popular stars in WWE, though he never officially turned good. According to Perry, McMahon never allowed the full turn because he saw Rusev as his “Bulgarian Brute 300 pound crazy villain” and did not want to change his vision. Rusev was released from WWE in April 2020 and debuted in AEW five months later. Opinion: I can see McMahon’s thinking here, but ultimately you need to take a chance at some point. WWE spen..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Hell in a Cell 2016 Date: October 30, 2016 Location: TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton It’s the annual “scary” show as we have three matches inside the Cell. In this case we’ve got Rusev challenging Roman Reigns for the US Title, Kevin Owens defending the Raw World Title against Seth Rollins and, possibly, a main event of Charlotte going after Sasha Banks’ Women’s Title. If that’s true, it’s the biggest match in the history of women’s wrestling. Let’s get to it..
There’s no interest. The rise of AEW has seen several stars having a new place to go in the wrestling world. While there have always been other promotions to go to, there are only so many spots on such a high level. Not everyone is going to be a good fit in WWE for one reason or another and one former WWE star does not seem like he would want to be back there anyway. According to SportsKeeda.com, AEW’s Miro has no interest in returning to WWE or leaving AEW. This comes after Miro had seemingly vented frustrations about his status in AEW but has not asked for his release. There is also said to be no interest from WWE in bringing Miro back to the company, where he wrestled under the name Rusev. Miro has not wrestled since All Out on September 4. Opinion: There are some interesting discussions of wrestlers jumping from one promotion to the other and that makes things a lot more fun. It can be fascinating to see someone trying to get out of their deal or trying to move elsewhere and then..
What could have been. One of the biggest wrestling stories in recent years has been the massive amount of WWE releases. It is almost hard to fathom that many people being let go over the years but that is what we have been seeing over and over. Some of those prominently released WWE names have popped up elsewhere, but now one of them has revealed something that happened to him when he was still in WWE. Back in April 2020, WWE released Rusev, who has since moved over to AEW, where he wrestles under the name of Miro. One of his last stories in WWE was a feud with Bobby Lashley, who had a storyline affair with Miro’s wife Lana. Miro appeared as a guest on the Kurt Angle Show and revealed that he had been promised a WrestleMania main event for working through the story. He also said that he did not believe that the story was real, saying that he felt it was a rib. The WrestleMania main events in 2020 were AJ Styles vs. Undertaker in a Boneyard match and Drew McIntyre defeating Brock Lesna..
What’s in a name? There are so many wrestlers who have appeared in WWE over the years that they can have a hard time standing out. Sometimes someone does manage to get you attention over the rest, but that does not mean it is a good thing. Every now and then you find something that earns you a reputation, and this time around we get to hear about it from a big more free opener. CJ Perry, best known as Lana during her time in WWE, appeared on Chris Jericho’s Talk Is Jericho podcast to discuss her time in WWE. During the interview, Perry discussed the heat that she received in 2015 for sending out photos her her marrying Rusev, who she was feuding with at the time, causing them to be made public. Perry was taken off of television for three months as a result and ultimately became much more careful about her photos. Even following the on-screen split from her storyline husband Bobby Lashley, Perry waited over a month before posting photos of her real life husband. Here are a few parts o..
I don’t think it would have gone well. Back in September, Miro, formerly known as Rusev in WWE, made his AEW debut as one of the biggest signings out of the group of April WWE releases. Since his debut, Miro has mainly focused on his new love of gaming, including segments and promos involving gaming. It is a very different way to go, but WWE had a pretty different idea for him last year. During his five and a half year run in WWE, one of the longer stories that Miro took part in was a love triangle involving Lana and Bobby Lashley. Miro is married to Lana, who left him for Lashley, setting up the long running feud. The story involved Miro being a sex addict, which eventually annoyed Lana to cause her to have an affair. It turns out that the original plan was rather different. In the latest edition of the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Miro spoke about the plans WWE had for him before he left the company. The original pitch for the storyline would have seen Miro suffering from erectile dys..
That’s what’s in a name. Wrestlers names are one of the most important parts of their entire presentation. Some of the biggest stars in the history of wrestling are at least partially there due to their name, including Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Steve Austin, The Rock and more. It gives them their identity and if you have the wrong one, it can cause a lot of harm to a career. Some modern WWE names are a little out there and now we know a bit more about why. WWE has a tendency to cut wrestlers’ names in half. Wrestlers such as Big E., Cesaro, Rusev and Apollo Crews and more have lost their first or last names at different times. That is the kind of thing that can be rather odd, but for some reason WWE keeps doing it over and over. Believe it or not, it is a Vince McMahon idea, and as usual, his logic is something worth hearing. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, some of the first names, including Alexander for Rusev and Antonio for Cesaro were dropped because McMahon did not want t..
Miro’s arrival in AEW, while surprising, was not wholly unexpected. The former Rusev made his debut on the September 9 edition of Dynamite, where he was revealed as the best man for Kip Sabian’s upcoming wedding with Penelope Ford. Since his departure from WWE, Miro’s pro wrestling fate was the topic of heavy speculation among fans, many of whom predicted his imminent signing with Tony Khan’s company. No one knows how long Miro will be aligned with Sabian, but it’s clear that The Bulgarian Brute is likely headed for big things in his new environment. Miro’s presence in an AEW ring was very surreal for many who watched Dynamite. But he was in great shape and he had a big smile on his face. This was not the same man who last stood in a WWE ring and was following the law of the land in Vince McMahon’s company. For many Superstars, their creative direction is stifled and they typically have very little input. That situation inevitably leads to frustration and ultimately, to separation...
That’s a serious problem. Wrestling has been around for a very long time and there are some ideas and stories that are always going to work. Some of these might feel a bit dated at times, but that does not mean they have stopped working. One of the most common has been the American hero against the menacing foreigner, who is often Russian. That was almost the case again a few years back in a big way. There are very few wrestlers in history on the same level as Kurt Angle. After winning a gold medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics, Angle took the WWF by storm and wound up becoming one of its biggest stars ever. He left for Impact Wrestling in 2006 and stayed there for the better part of ten years before coming back to the WWE in 2016 for his Hall of Fame induction. Angle also wrestled a handful of matches before retiring in 2018, but there was one major match that never took place for a good reason. In a chat on Twitch, Miro, formerly known as Rusev in WWE, talked about trying to get WWE ..

Clash of Champions 2016 Date: September 25, 2016 Location: Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton It’s the first Raw only pay per view and things are starting to get interesting around here. Tonight’s main event is Seth Rollins challenging Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship but the big question is what role HHH will play in the whole thing. Other than that we have Roman Reigns challenging Rusev for the US Title and New Day defending the Raw Ta..
Wrestlemania entrances are always some of the best and most iconic of all time. But which ones were the best of the best? WWE has posted a new video on their YouTube channel, in which they show some of the greatest entrances from the grandest stage of them all. You can see the video in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] The entrances shown are as follows: John Cena, Wrestlemania 25 (multiple John Cenas) Shawn Michaels, Wrestlemania 12 (Zip line) Rusev, Wrestlemania 31 (Tank) Triple H, Wrestlemania 33 (Motorcycle) Andre the Giant, Wrestlemania 3 (Transported on a Ring) Sasha Banks, Wrestlemania 32 (Snoop Dogg singing her to the ring) Shinsuke Nakamura, Wrestlemania 34 (Theme played by live guitar and violins) “Macho King” Randy Savage, Wrestlemania 7 (Brought out on a chair carried by several men) The Undertaker, Wrestlemania 30 (22 caskets) Sting, Wrestlemania 31 (Taiko drummers) The New Day, Wrestlemania 32 (Booty-O’s cereal) Hulk Hogan, Wrestlemania 7 ..
Does it count if you don’t tell them? We’re less than two days away from Fastlane and, in theory at least, the card is set for the show. That’s never stopped WWE from adding things at the last minute before and that’s what they’ve done with another Kickoff Show match. This time around though, there’s a detail that they seemed to leave out and it’s kind of an important one. WWE.com has announced a new Kickoff Show match featuring the team of Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura facing Big E. and Xavier Woods of the New Day. While that doesn’t seem to be anything out of the ordinary, Woods took to Twitter to mention that WWE didn’t actually tell him he would be having a match on the show. According to Woods, he only found out about it by reading the news on Twitter. Glad I opened twitter today or else I wouldn't have known that we have a match this Sunday https://t.co/VlqGQ8BxsI — ??Smooth Pen ?? (@XavierWoodsPhD) March 8, 2019 They certainly did what they promised. Check out what New Da..
You better stretch the calendar. Earlier this year, there was no one hotter in WWE than Rusev. He’s one of the biggest surprises in WWE as he should have been little more than a muscular evil foreigner, but he’s turned out to be incredibly charismatic, which has put him over with the fans. That has turned him into something almost no one expected with popularity to match. As it turns out, that can mean something very good. This week on SmackDown Live, Rusev defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to win the United States Title for the third time in his career. Rusev was announced as the #1 contender last week after requesting a title shot for weeks. This is first title reign since 2016 and he has held the title for about nine and a half months combined over his first three reigns. There is no word on when he will be defending the title first. Well we have to look at it. Here’s how Rusev won the title: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Good for him. A lot of people, myself incl..
That’s what he’s gonna do? If there is one thing that the WWF could do with their eyes closed back in the day, it was push Hulk Hogan vs. the foreign monster of the month. It was a formula that worked perfectly well and made a ton of money over the years. That was thirty years ago and a certain foreign monster now seems interested in starting up the old formula again. On Monday, the recently reinstated Hogan said that he was looking rather muscular at Crown Jewel, to the point where he could beat up most of the current roster. Rusev took exception to this and said that Hogan could start with him at WrestleMania 35, which takes place on Rusev Day. There is currently no reason to believe that Hogan is getting back in the ring and this seems to be more of a friendly exchange. Ok, today is a new day. After seeing myself on Crown Jewel I have decided to get serious and get under 300lbs. I looked huge, swole, jacked and my arms are still bigger than most wrestlers legs. I don’t want to loo..
Hell in a Cell 2018 Date: September 16, 2018 Location: AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas Commentators: Michael Cole, Renee Young, Corey Graves, Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton Welcome to the first show of the three that WWE is currently building. In this case we have the show designed around carnage and that could mean a few things. The show hasn’t exactly blown me away on paper but maybe they’ll surprise me here. There are two matches inside the big red cage tonight so let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Smackdown Tag Team Titles: Rusev Day vs. New Day Rusev Day is defending after winning a tournament. Kofi wastes no time in double stomping English and it’s already off to Rusev. A fall away slam has Kofi in trouble and we go split screen to see an Alexa Bliss vs. Ronda Rousey ad. Back with Kofi fighting out of a front facelock and hitting a tornado DDT for the tag off to Big E. Suplexes abound but Rusev tags himself in to kick Big E. in the head. English tags himself back in though, leaving Bi..
