Casting Conflicts: Multiple Wrestlers Upset With Not Appearing On ROH TV Despite Being Present

Can you blame them? There are all kinds of wrestling promotions around the world today and some of them have quite the audience. This is often the result of a television, or at least streaming, presence, with fans being able to see the show around the country or even the world. Appearing on such a show can mean a lot for a wrestler’s career, which is why some issues have arisen. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Rough Landing: AEW Star Out Of Action Due To Injuries Suffered In Nasty Wrestling Crash This week, Ring Of Honor TV returned after a year plus hiatus, with the first episode under Tony Khan’s ownership. The show featured ten matches with another ten having been taped for the second episode. However, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, several more wrestlers were brought in for the tapings and not used. Many of these wrestlers canceled independent bookings and while they were paid better for being at the Ring Of Honor show, they were upset about not being used. One such wres..

REVIEW: ROH Best In The World 2018: They’re Not Far Off

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Best in the World 2018 Date: June 29, 2018 Location: UMBC Event Center, Cantonsville, Maryland Commentators: Colt Cabana, Ian Riccaboni It’s pay per view time and even though I’ve already seen the next TV show, none of that matters as we have a few weeks to spare because of Ring of Honor’s wacky TV schedule. The main event here is a triple threat between World Champion Dalton Castle, Cody and Marty Scurll but the real highlight should be the Young Bucks challenging the Briscoes for the Tag Team Titles..

Tony Khan Reveals Details Of William Regal’s Return To WWE

And there it is. During the media scrum for the upcoming ROH Final Battle pay-per-view this weekend, Tony Khan revealed some of the details behind William Regal’s departure from AEW and return to WWE. Khan said that Regal approached Megha Parekh, who is part of AEW’s legal team, with a request for the promotion not to renew his deal, as he wanted to return to WWE. Not only is his son working in WWE, but he also wanted to coach alongside some of his old friends now that Triple H has gained control of the company. Furthermore, Khan says that Regal’s release dictates he can go back to WWE and coach but not be an on-air personality in 2023. Tony Khan says William Regal's release dictates he is able to go back to #WWE and coach, but not be able to go on-air in the next year. He says he was surprised by the tweet from WWE showcasing him on TV. #AEW #ROH #FinalBattle — Jon Alba (@JonAlba) December 7, 2022 He was written off of television on last week’s episode of Dynamite, when MJF..

WWE Officials High On Roxanne Perez

They liked what they saw. NXT superstar Roxanne Perez made her main roster debut this past week on Smackdown, teaming with Shotzi and Raquel Rodriguez to take on Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky of Damage Control. According to reports from both Wrestling News and PWInsider, WWE officials were very impressed with what they saw from Perez and plan on continuing to use her on the main roster again very soon. Perez has had quite the rise in professional wrestling since beginning her training at Booker T’s wrestling school at the age of 16. She debuted for Ring of Honor in April 2021 at the age of 19, winning the inaugural ROH Women’s World Championship and becoming the youngest female champion in company history. She would debut in NXT in April 2022 at the age of 20. Editor’s Opinion: There are some sueprstars that just have natural talent, and she appears to be one of them. I’ve always been a big fan of her work and now that she’s having the opportunity to show the world what she can d..

Claudio Castagnoli Discusses Joining AEW, Future of Blackpool Combat Club, More

ROH World Heavyweight Champion Claudio Castagnoli was recently interviewed by Bleacher Report, where he discussed several topics. Among them were joining AEW, winning the ROH Heavyweight Championship, the future of the Blackpool Combat Club and more. Below are some highlights from the interview: On joining AEW and the matches that he had: “[Blood and Guts] was awesome in a way that I was thrown right into the fire,” he said. “It was a kind of trial by combat, so to speak. Trial by Blackpool Combat Club [laughs]. I wrestled Zack Sabre Jr. that Sunday in a very, very technical match. I think he’s probably one of, if not the, best technical wrestlers in the world. “And then there was the Blood and Guts match on Wednesday where I was in from the beginning to end. I’m always looking for challenges and that was definitely a big one. It’s so much fun to be in the ring with the Blackpool Combat Club. “I’ve only known Wheeler Yuta for about a month, but it feels way longer. Bryan Danielson..

Jonathan Gresham Requests ROH/AEW Release After “Cussing Out” Tony Khan

The champ may be out. According to a report from Fightful Select, former ROH Heavyweight Champion Jonathan Gresham has requested his release from ROH & AEW. The report states that Gresham asked for his release Saturday ahead of the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view. He defended the ROH World Heavyweight Championship against Claudio Castagnoli and dropped the title to him in the opening match fo the show. “A lack of communication between the company and Gresham leading up to the weekend” led him to feel “disrespected.” The lack of time given to the World Title match during last night’s show was also a noted “tipping point.” Gresham reportedly met with Tony Khan before the show began and got heated enough to the point that he was “cussing out” the boss. The former champion has since responded to inquiries about the ordeal and is said to be “done with wrestling for the foreseeable future after this month.” We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become avai..

That Would Be A Loss: Legendary Name May Be Gone From AEW And ROH

He’s gone? While wrestlers are the focal point of any wrestling show, there are other people on television who are going to be getting some attention of their own. That can often be the case with someone doing the talking for the wrestlers, which can often make for a great combination. However, now one of the better talkers in wrestling today might be looking for a new place to go. Tully Blanchard was absent from this weekend’s Ring Of Honor Death Before Dishonor event and was seemingly written off of television as Prince Nana announced his purchase of Tully Blanchard Enterprises. According to Fightful Select, it is not clear why Blanchard was missing, with possible reasons ranging from possible travel issues to Blanchard’s prison ministry. Either way, Blanchard was said to be done with Ring Of Honor, though it is not clear if he will be back in AEW. Opinion: This is kind of a weird situation and hopefully Blanchard can find somewhere to go. He is way too good of a talker to not have..

Multiple Titles Change Hands At ROH Death Before Dishonor

That’s a busy night. Titles are the easiest concept in all of wrestling and they always will be. Anyone can understand the idea of someone with the big shiny belt being the best around and in wrestling, those belts have to be defended. When one of them changes hands, it feels like something special has happened and that was the case again this weekend, multiple times over. Saturday night, Ring Of Honor made its return to pay per view with Death Before Dishonor. The card featured six title matches, with two title changes taking place. First up, Claudio Castagnoli win the Ring Of Honor World Title from Jonathan Gresham in the show’s opening match. Then, the Righteous lost the Ring Of Honor Six Man Tag Team Titles to Dalton Castle and the Boys, marking Castle and the Boys’ second reign as champions. The Pure Title, the Women’s Title, the Television Title and the Tag Team Titles were all retained. Opinion: This was quite the eventful night for Ring Of Honor, as having a single title chan..

Vince McMahon Paid Millions In Hush Money To Multiple Women

It had been reported that Vince McMahon paid $3 million to a WWE employee due to a sexual relationship between the two. The company’s Board of Directors was investigating it, but apparently, the scandal didn’t end there. According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal and iHeart, McMahon paid more than $12 million in hush money to four women during the past 16 years to suppress sexual misconduct and infidelity allegations. The report states that all four women were affiliated with WWE and signed agreements with McMahon prohibiting them from publicly discussing possible legal claims or their relationship with him. Sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed this to the Journal. The new reported settlements include McMahon paying $7.5 million to a former WWE wrestler who claimed McMahon coerced her into giving him oral sex and then demoted her before ultimately deciding not to renew her contract after she resisted other sexual encounters, sources familiar with the situati..

AEW Has A Strong Night At ROH Supercard Of Honor With Big Title Haul

It was a busy night. There are a lot of titles to be won in the wrestling industry and some of them have deep histories. It means something when those titles change hands, especially on a show of magnitude. In his case, a lot of the titles had not been defended or even seen in a very long time, making the changes all the more important. That was the case this week in a big way. There were four new champions crowned at Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor 2022 event, which served as the company’s first new event since December 2021. First, Mercedes Martinez defeated Willow Nightingale to become the new Interim Women’s Champion, setting up a unification match with Deonna Purrazzo. Second, FTR defeated the Briscoes to win the Tag Team Titles. Next, Minoru Suzuki took the Television Title from Rhett Titus, followed by Wheeler Yuta becoming the Pure Champion by defeating Josh Woods. The show’s main event saw Jonathan Gresham defeat Bandido to become undisputed World Champion. Opinion: That ..

On The Dotted Line: AEW Announces New Free Agent Signing

Next woman up. The AEW roster has been built up rather well over the company’s three year history and that is a great thing to see. Above all else, AEW has done a great job of choosing who will be on the roster and that has made for some great moments. WWE knows what it is doing when it comes to making decisions and now they have picked up another promising star. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite included a match between TBS Champion Jade Cargill and AQA. Following the match, AEW has announced that AQA has been signed to a contract with the company. AQA has wrestled several matches for the company on Dark and was trained by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. There is no word on when AQA will be wrestling her next match in AEW. Danhausen Debuts In AEW

Very nice, very evil. On tonight’s episode of Dynamite, former ROH star Danhausen made his debut with AEW. He appeared under the ring when Adam Cole tried to grab a chair to use in his Lights Out match with Orange Cassidy in the main event. You can see the video of the debut below: [This post contains video, click to play] Danhausen has been out of action since Halloween of 2021, when he suffered an injury during an independent event. His current plan is to be back to in-ring competition by February of this year. Editor’s Opinion: I have to be completely honest: I have absolutely no idea who this person is. However, in doing my research for writing this article, it would seem that he has developed a cult following, which I am intrigued of learning more about. Also, the reaction from the crowd when he made his debut was legitimate, which tells me that there is something more to this character. I hope that Danhausen has success in AEW and I am very interested in learning more about..

Impact Wrestling Results – December 16, 2021

Impact Wrestling Date: December 16, 2021 Location: Sam’s Town Live, Las Vegas, Nevada Commentators: Matt Striker, D’Lo Brown We’re on the way to Hard To Kill and the card is starting to take shape. That means we should have some good stuff coming up in the next few weeks, as Impact can give us some nice final pushes into major shows. Matt Cardona is still building momentum on the way to the biggest match of his career and that could continue this week. Let’s get to it. In Memory of Jimmy Rave. Opening recap looks at last week’s main event, with W. Morrissey’s temper costing him a chance to get Matt Cardona out of the Hard To Kill main event. Opening sequence. Rohit Raju vs. Josh Alexander Raj Singh is here with Raju. A single right hand annoys Alexander so Raju is already hiding in the ropes. That earns him a hiptoss out of the corner as Alexander’s bad ribs don’t seem to be bothering him to start. They head outside with Alexander taking out Singh but getting said ribs driven into..

Backstage Heat On AEW Star Over Tweets Insulting ROH’s Jonathan Gresham

He went a bit too far. There are a lot of ways to set up a wrestling feud, though some of the modern versions are a little bit different than the classics. Social media has become an option to set up a feud, but like almost anything else, it has to be done right. This time around, it seems that a wrestler tried to set something up but didn’t quite st things up properly. According to Fightful Select, AEW’s Anthony Ogogo had some heat backstage over a tweet he sent to Ring of Honor’s Jonathan Gresham. After Gresham won the Ring of Honor World Title at Final Battle earlier this month, Ogogo tweeted that Gresham’s title win was similar to Hornswoggle being the final holder of the original WWE Cruiserweight Title. Ogogo continue to go back and forth with Gresham’s wife Jordynne Grace, who wrestles for Impact Wrestling. Gresham and Grace were said to not be involved in the situation and several AEW wrestlers were not pleased. However, it is believed by some that Ogogo was merely trying to ..

Interesting Note About The Future Of The Ring Of Honor World Title

The title isn’t done yet. One of the bigger stories of the year has been the demise of Ring of Honor, as the company seems like it might be completely done following this month’s Final Battle event. At the very least, the company is going into hiatus for the next several months, but it seems that a few things might be continuing while everything else is away full time. Game Changer Wrestling has announced that new Ring of Honor World Champion Jonathan Gresham will be defending his title against AJ Gray at their December 17 Blood on the Hills event. The match will take place under Pure Rules, which Gresham said would be the case for all of his title defenses after winning the title at Final Battle. There is no word on how frequently Gresham will be defending the title in other promotions. *BREAKING* The JON GRESHAM vs AJ GRAY match at #GCWBlood will now be for the ROH World Championship and will be contested under Pure Rules! Reigning World Champion Tests Positive For Coronavirus

It never ends easily. One of the wrestling stories that has flown a bit under the radar this year has been the huge changes to Ring of Honor. The company has gone from one of the bigger promotions in the country to mostly non-existent after this weekend’s Final Battle pay per view. Now though, it seems that we might not be getting to see the final show as planned. Ring of Honor has announced that World Champion Bandido has been diagnosed with the Coronavirus, meaning that he will not be able to defend the title against Jonathan Gresham at Final Battle. There is no word on any potential replacement for the match, as Final Battle is scheduled to be the final Ring of Honor event until the second quarter of 2022. Bandido has held the title since Best In The World in July. #FinalBattle update. Get well soon @bandidowrestler! WATCH: The Miz’s Father Gets Physical At Independent Show, Matt Cardona Not Happy

Call it a cameo? There are some people who pop in and out of wrestling without making much of an impact, but sometimes they do something that you just can’t shake. On occasion, you see that one lone thing turned into a bit of a short term career, which seems to be the case again. This time though, it isn’t even with a wrestler, but rather the relative of a wrestler. The Miz’s father George Mizanin got involved at an independent show, interfering in a six man tag match. Mizanin was sitting front row at an Absolute Intense Wrestling event, which featured a six man tag between Josh Bishop/Wes Barkley/Josh Prohibition and Philly Collins/Marino Tenaglia/Matt Cardona. During the match, Mizanin chopped Collins, prompting a negative Twitter reaction from Cardona. Fuck You George https://t.co/KkM0CIRvyo — Matt Cardona (@TheMattCardona) November 27, 2021 Mizanin has been involved in wrestling before.
