Nowhere is safe anymore. Following last night’s NXT: Vengeance Day premium live event, Shawn Michaels did a media conference call to discuss the show. However, he was not alone, as Grayson Waller decided to make his feelings known. Waller interrupted Michaels during the call and shared his frustrations about not being HBK’s guy. Waller felt that Carmelo Hayes has taken that place, as was shown in the final moments of the show. Matt Bloom ended up entering the room and removed Waller before he took things too far. Another one for the history books. This past Sunday at NXT Deadline, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods captured the NXT tag team championships by defeating Pretty Deadly. While this was a great moment for The New Day, this championship victory was also historic in a number of ways. As a result of their victory, Kingston broke the record for the most tag team championships in WWE history with 15. The previous record was held by Booker T, who had 14 championship reigns. While it serves as the official WWE developmental territory and its main purpose is to get wrestlers ready for the main roster, it also serves as its own promotion, meaning things need to happen to keep up the interest. Now we might know what WWE has in mind. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, there has been talk of having Nikkita Lyons win the NXT Women’s Title. However, this is not expected to take place in the near future but rather a long time down the road. Lyons recently returned from an injury and has been talking about the title in recent weeks. That’s how they’re dealing with things. The Coronavirus is hitting the wrestling world all over again and there is nothing to suggest that it is going away anytime soon. This can cause a heck of a lot of problems in a hurry and that is the case with WWE. The company has a lot of resources available though, and now they are going to have to use some more to their advantage. WWE is holding its annual post Christmas live event at Madison Square Garden in New York City this weekend and a surprise match has been announced. The Garden’s Twitter account has announced that NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa will be defending his title against Pete Dunne. I’d call that a loss. NXT has undergone a lot of changes in the last few months and those changes may be continuing in the future. That can make for some rather interesting situations in the promotion, as it is not clear who is going to be sticking around and who will be on their way out the door. One longtime NXT star has suggested that they might not be sticking around. NXT’s Johnny Gargano has updated his Twitter profile, removing all references from NXT whatsoever. Now, rather than a mention to NXT, there is a link to Gargano’s website. There is still however a link to his WWE.com profile. This comes after news of Gargano’s WWE contract expiring on December 3 broke in recent weeks. Gargano’s most recent tweet is a photo of his NXT championships and a question of “what’s next?”. At NXT Takeover: War Games II, Aleister Black defeated Johnny Gargano. The NXT Title remains on Tommaso Ciampa’s shoulder after he beat The Velveteen Dream later in the night. By all appearances, Black vs. Ciampa is the plan for the NXT Championship after the event. However, it’s unclear where Gargano fits into the NXT Title picture as a heel. According to a report from PWInsider Elite, NXT officials could be looking for Gargano to remain a heel while Black remains the No. 1 Contender. It’s also been rumored that a ‘DIY’ reunion could happen soon while both Gargano and Ciampa are heels. The angle is going to come down to how NXT officials want to book Johnny Wrestling going forward. If you don’t like spoilers, you need to stop reading now. At the most recent set of NXT tapings, a major angle took place, as Tommaso Ciampa defeated Aleister Black to win the NXT Championship. This is Ciampa’s first run as NXT Champion. According to reports from the show, the finish came after the referee took a bump and Johnny Gargano ran out. Gargano attacked both Ciampa and Black, but Ciampa recovered first and pinned Black to capture the championship. Last year at NXT TakeOver: Chicago Tommaso Ciampa turned his back on his long time best friend Johnny Gargano. After being stabbed in the back by his former best-friend Gargano went on a bit of a slump in NXT. Months later Gargano got himself back together and engaged in a feud with the-then NXT Champion Andrade "Cien" Almas. "Johnny Wrestling" not being able to defeat Almas on numerous occasions drove him to put his career on the line to get his hands on the NXT Championship. In the match in which he put his career on the line Gargano was attacked from behind by Tommaso Ciampa who had been out for a number of months rehabbing a knee injury. Ciampa thought he delivered the final blow to Gargano, but a fed up individual will not step away until they finish what they started and Gargano did just that.
