Get Your Money Ready: WWE Attempts To Legalize Betting On Matches

Money money? One of the biggest criticisms that you will hear of professional wrestling is that the endings are planned out in advance as the entire presentation is fixed. While this is true, the stories are built up in a way to leave fans wondering what they are going to see in a match or story. That can make things all the more interesting, and it could potentially make some money. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They Could See Him: Backstage WWE Reaction To John Cena’s Monday Night Raw Appearance According to CNBC, WWE is attempting to legalize betting on its matches in Colorado and Michigan. The company has hired accounting firm Ernst & Young to help with the pitch. The firm has helped legalizing betting on the Emmys and Oscars, with WWE claiming that their results are kept secret in the same way. One potential solution would be for WWE to have storylines and results locked in place in advance, with wrestlers only finding out the results just before a match takes place. However, CNBC is a..

Monday Night Raw Results – February 27, 2023

Monday Night Raw Date: February 27, 2023 Location: Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Michigan Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Corey Graves We are less than five weeks away from Wrestlemania and you can see a lot of the show’s card from here. That means we should be in for a good event, as there is time to build things up in advance. Odds are we’ll hear a lot from Cody Rhodes this week, which often works out well. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Friday’s Bloodline issues, as Sami Zayn seems to still be getting inside Jey Uso’s mind. Here are Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa to mock the idea of there being problems in the Bloodline. Families fight all the time but if you come for one of them, you come for all of them. There have been a lot of people who thought the Bloodline was over and they were all wrong. So get them some opponents out here. Cue the Street Profits, who shout a lot and ask where Jey Uso is. Trash is talked and we’re ready to go. Jimmy Uso/Solo Sikoa vs. Street Profits J..

It’s On The Way: WWE Makes Huge Summerslam Announcement

There’s the next one. WWE is a huge wrestling company and as a result, its major shows are often held on the biggest stages. This includes several shows that are held in huge NFL stadiums to give the show as big of a feel as possible. That can make for some great moments, and now another top WWE event is going to get a chance to make it happen all over again. Summerslam was previously held in the Detroit area in 1993 but this will be the first time that the event will be held at Ford Field, as well as its third straight year in a stadium. No matches have been officially announced for the event. Summerslam can go big rather well. Check out some of its past efforts: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains vid..

SmackDown Results – January 20, 2023

Smackdown Date: January 20, 2023 Location: Little Caesar’s Arena, Detroit, Michigan Commentators: Michael Cole, Wade Barrett We’re just over a week away from the Royal Rumble and that could make for an interesting build to the show. Most of the card is set and that means it is time for a Bloodline show. Sami Zayn is having some issues with the rest of the team and that could be very interesting. Other than that, we start the #1 contenders tag team tournament. Let’s get to it. The Bloodline arrives and Roman Reigns doesn’t seem thrilled with Sami Zayn. We get brackets for the Tag Team Title #1 Contenders Tournament: Drew McIntyre/Sheamus Viking Raiders Los Lotharios Hit Row Brawling Brutes Imperium Maximum Male Models Legado del Fantasma Tag Team Titles #1 Contenders Tournament First Round: Drew McIntyre/Sheamus vs. Viking Raiders Valhalla..

REVIEW: Survivor Series 2005: The First Showdown

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Survivor Series 2005 Date: November 27, 2005 Location: Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, Michigan Attendance: 15,000 Commentators: Joey Styles, Jerry Lawler, Jonathan Coachman, Michael Cole, Tazz This show is all about brand vs. brand, which really isn’t an interesting story because they would interact pretty regularly but of course WWE doesn’t get this. Therefore, the main event is a five on five Team Raw vs. Team Smackdown Survivor Series elimination tag for pure bragging rights. At least they didn’t have a..

Never Too Early: Way Too Early Possible Plans For Summerslam 2023

It’s one of the big ones. WWE has been presenting pay per view events for well over thirty years now and there are several that are among the biggest wrestling shows in the world every year. At the top of the list are the Big Four, with the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, Survivor Series and Summerslam. Those shows mean a lot and now we might know something else about an upcoming edition. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: High Praise: William Regal Makes Surprise Pick For “The One That Got Away” According to Fightful Select, Detroit, Michigan is currently a front runner to host Summerslam 2023, though no official selection has been made just yet. If Detroit hosts the show, it is not clear if Summerslam would take place in Little Caesar’s Arena or at Ford Field. The last two editions have taken place in stadium. Detroit has hosted Summerslam before, with the 1993 edition taking place at Joe Louis Arena. There have been some great Summerslam moments. Check out some of the best, plus Summerslam in De..

REVIEW: Halloween Havoc 1994: The Hogan Effect

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Halloween Havoc 1994 Date: October 23, 1994 Location: Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, Michigan Attendance: 14,000 Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan Someone requested this show and I haven’t watched any WCW in a VERY long time now. It’s as good of a time as any as I could go for a little pallet cleanser. Hulk Hogan has shown up and that means it’s time to put everything around him. You have to get rid of some big names at the same time, so the big main event is Hogan vs. Ric Flair in a cage, title/c..

AEW Battle Of The Belts III Results

Battle Of The Belts III Date: August 6, 2022 Location: Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Michigan Commentators: Taz, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone It’s time for another of these specials and I’m not sure what to expect from something like this. AEW does not seem to be the most interested in running these shows but that very well might have a lot to do with the shows being network mandates. At least we should get some good action so let’s get to it. TNT Title: Jay Lethal vs. Wardlow Lethal, with Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh, is challenging. Wardlow shoves him around to start and a big toss sends Lethal outside. Lethal gets in a cheap shot though and scores with an enziguri back inside. A tilt-a-whirl slam gets Wardlow out of trouble but Lethal knocks him outside for the suicide dive. That means Lethal can get in the strut before wrapping Wardlow’s leg around the post. We take a break and come back with Lethal having to escape the powerbomb. Instead Wardlow goes with a clothesline to turn Let..

AEW Rampage Results – August 5, 2022

Rampage Date: August 5, 2022 Location: Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Michigan Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross We’re a day away from Battle Of The Belts and that is probably not going to mean very much. Other than that, we have a street fight this week between Keith Lee/Swerve Strickland and Josh Woods/Tony Nese, after Woods attacked Lee last week. In addition, Madison Rayne will be making her AEW debut which could be interesting. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jon Moxley vs. Mance Warner Non-title and William Regal is on commentary. Before the match, we get a video from Warner, who is quite the Tennessee style talker. He promises to fight Moxley (rather than dance with him) because he has heard Moxley talk about how much he loves to bleed. Now Ole Mancer is here to become the man. It’s a brawl in the aisle to start with Warner sending him into the steps before biting Moxley’s head. They get inside for the bell and are back on the floor literally two seconds l..

AEW Rampage Results – July 1, 2022

Rampage Date: July 1, 2022 Location: Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, Michigan Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone We are done with Forbidden Door and that means it is time to start moving forward. In this case that means we need a new challenger for Jon Moxley’s newly won Interim World Title. We can find that out tonight in what sounds like a Royal Rumble for the #1 contendership. That should be enough to carry the show so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Royal Rampage So this is a two ring battle royal, but not in the traditional sense. Instead, there are two rings with a separate battle royal going on in each. Once there is a single person left in each, they will have a two man battle royal for the shot. It is also Royal Rumble style entrances and it’s Hangman Page/Powerhouse Hobbs in blue and Darby Allin/Tony Nese in red to get things going. Nese kicks Allin down and poses as Hobbs powers Page around. Page low bridges Hobbs to the apron as Ricky Starks is in the r..

REVIEW: Olde Wrestling In Detroit: A Different Era

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Olde Wrestling In Detroit Date: March 30, 2019 Location: The Whiskey Factory, Detroit, Michigan Commentator: Joe Dombrowski This is something I have wanted to see for a LONG time, as the promotion is set in the 1920s and features a corrupt judge, bootlegging, shoeshine boys and more. It sounded like a blast and made me grab a subscription to IndependentWrestling.TV, which sent me on a list of about 20 shows. This is the grand finale though so let’s get to it. Opening video, with old school style of course. The r..

AEW Dynamite Results – June 29, 2022 (Blood & Guts)

Dynamite Date: June 29, 2022 Location: Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, Michigan Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Tony Schiavone It’s another major show here as we go from Forbidden Door on Sunday to Blood & Guts tonight. That would be AEW’s version of WarGames, albeit with twelve people this time as the match needs to be bigger, but it does look good on paper. Other than that, I’m not sure what else we have as so much has been put into the New Japan stuff for the last few weeks. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Ethan Page vs. Orange Cassidy Before the match, Dan Lambert complains about the Best Friends being here because they aren’t official managers and we have regulations in his state. Oh and Cassidy is skinny and has no muscles whatsoever. Page starts fast and knocks him down but Cassidy nips up and grabs an armdrag to the floor. There’s the suicide dive, followed by the high crossbody for one back inside. Page is back up with some shots of his own and Cassidy gets knocked into the..

SmackDown Results – May 20, 2022

Smackdown Date: May 20, 2022 Location: Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Michigan Commentators: Pat McAfee, Michael Cole We are about two weeks away from Hell In A Cell and I think that means you know what you’re getting. The big story tonight is the Tag Team Title unification match between RKBro and the Usos, which will probably get quite a bit of hype. Other than that, we have a lot more to cover before the pay per view so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here is the Bloodline to get things going, with Michael Cole saying that if the Usos unify the titles, it will establish the Bloodline as the greatest faction in WWE history. Roman Reigns tells the fans to acknowledge him and then has Paul Heyman tell the people why this night is so important. Heyman talks about how the Bloodline is amazing, including Roman Reigns, who is better than Hogan, Austin, Sammartino and Cena. Tonight though, the Usos are unifying the Tag Team Titles and beating the best team on Raw to become the greates..

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Hell in a Cell 2017 Date: October 8, 2017 Location: Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, Michigan Commentators: Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton, Corey Graves It’s time for the Shane McMahon Does Something Stupid Show. The main event tonight is Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens inside the show’s namesake structure as Shane fights to defend his family’s honor. Other than that we have the Usos challenging the New Day for the Tag Team Titles inside the Cell too. Let’s get to it. On the Kickoff Show, Tye Dillinger mentions to Daniel..

Monday Night Raw Date: April 11, 2022 Location: Little Caesar’s Arena, Detroit, Michigan Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We’re back to normal this week as the Wrestlemania Weekend glow is gone. Now we get to see what the regular crowds are like and how they respond to what WWE is offering. At the same time, we get to see how things go when WWE doesn’t have to try as hard. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Cody Rhodes’ return at Wrestlemania and wanting to become the WWE Champion to honor his father. Here is the Miz for MizTV. Miz wastes no time in introducing Cody Rhodes, though he does make sure to insult the fans a few times. Miz accuses Cody of taking too long to come out but Cody says it has been awhile since he was in front of a crowd like this one. Hang on as Cody gets to pose a bit more and the fans certainly like him. We hear about Cody being the grandson of a plumber but without the Rhodes name, he would just be a plumber. Cody says it would be ..

There are a few big stories this week, including the renewal of Miz and Maryse’s wedding vows, but we also get to find out how the Coronavirus outbreak has impacted the roster. Let’s get to it. Here is RKBro for a chat. Riddle, in a party hat, talks about how the team had a good year but Randy Orton won’t read a Christmas card. Orton wants to beat Otis right now to make sure he has a good new year, but Riddle wants to look forward to the future. Next year could see them patent Brogurt! Last week Riddle was thinking about the future and thought he turned into a viper but Orton doesn’t want to hear about it. Instead he asks to see a clip from last week, which has Riddle wondering what Orton means by “production truck”. Anyway, Otis might be non-RKOable, so ..
