Seth Rollins Pays Tribute To Brodie Lee At WWE Live Event

Friends Forever. WWE recently ran a live event in Rochester, New York, which featured a match between Seth Rollins and Austin Theory for the United States Championship. Rochester also happens to be the hometown of Brodie Lee, who tragically passed away in December 2020. Following the match, Rollins paid tribute to Brodie and said the following: “Mr. Brodie Lee…he’s from here. He passed away a couple of years ago around this time, and this is the first time I’ve been here with a microphone in my hand in this city to tell him how much I miss him and how much I love him. I just wanted to say tonight was for him. Every time we are in Rochester, in my heart that means we’re here for him. It’s Saturday, and you know what that means, so do your damn thing and sing my song.” Seth Rollins (@WWERollins) gives a tribute to the late Brodie Lee (Luke Harper) in Lee’s hometown of Rochester, NY. ??#WWERochester pic.twitter.com/5BEwryZXZI — Ella Jay (@itsellajay) December 4, 2022 Prior to his tim..

WATCH: Wrestling World Pays Tribute To Brodie Lee On Anniversary Of His Death

He’s worth it. There are certain wrestlers who make a special impact on the industry and you can instantly feel it. Some of them might have a more direct connection, while some are not entirely felt until they are gone. That was the case with one of the bigger unsung stars in wrestling last year, and now the wrestling community is remembering him a year after he left us. Jon Huber, better known as Brodie Lee in AEW, passed away on December 26, 2020 at age 41. The death was a surprise to wrestling fans and is still felt throughout AEW to this day. Following his death, several tributes came pouring in and they continue to do so, as several wrestlers and wrestling personalities have paid tribute to Huber on the anniversary of his passing, as well as what would have been his 42nd birthday on December 16. These names come from in and around the wrestling world. On his birthday, we remember the late Jon Huber, known to WWE fans as Luke Harper. pic.twitter.com/M85RVJIuOB — WWE (@WWE) Decem..

FULL WrestleMania Match: John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt From WrestleMania 30

Flashback. John Cena is back in a big way for WWE and it seems that he is on the road to Summerslam for a huge match against Roman Reigns. Cena has a history of being in the spotlight for WWE and it has been going on for a very long time now. With such a history to his credit, there are going to be some great matches throughout his credit. WWE is taking a look back at just that. WWE has posted the full video of Cena’s match with Bray Wyatt from WrestleMania 30. The match was Wyatt’s WrestleMania debut and included Luke Harper and Erick Rowan in his corner. The story of the match centered around Wyatt attempting to force Cena to be more aggressive and therefore destroy his legacy. While Cena considered attacking Wyatt with a chair, Cena ultimately turned down the chance and faced Wyatt on his own. This was a cool one. Check out the match plus some more of the Wyatt vs. Cena feud: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contai..

Injured Former Champion Returns To Action On Saturday

Welcome home. There’s something very cool when a wrestler returns from an injury. You get to see them for the first time after what could be a long or short layoff and the question becomes how fast they can get back to where they were before. Or perhaps they’re even better this time around. Either way, it’s a fun thing to see and it was on display Saturday night. According to PWInsider.com by way of 411mania.com, Luke Harper returned to the ring from an injury in his hometown of Rochester, New York on Saturday night, defeating Mojo Rawley. This is Harper’s first match since October 1 due to wrist surgery that has caused him to miss several months. There is no word on when Harper may return to television or which show it may be on. Maybe a reunion is in order. Check out Harper’s time as a Bludgeon Brother: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: It’s nice to have Harper back, though with Rowan working with Daniel Bryan, I’m not sure what it’s going to mean. Maybe he can ..

Update On Main Roster Stars Heading Down To NXT

Welcome home. NXT is viewed as college for a lot of wrestlers. The wrestlers get to spend at least a year down there and learn how to be ready for the main roster, but at the same time their runs down there has to end. They have to go up to the main roster (or get released) at some point and that can lead to mixed results. However, something might have changed now and it’s a good thing. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, more WWE main roster stars are likely to head down to NXT for some appearances at house shows when they have nothing else going on. People like Luke Harper and Tyler Breeze, former NXT stars whose current tag team partners are sidelined due to injuries, have made recent appearances on NXT house shows in singles matches. If nothing else, the crowd reactions will be great. [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I see absolutely nothing wrong with any of this. NXT gets a boost with some bigger names appearing on their shows and these guys get..

Smackdown 4/17 Viewership Slightly Down

The Superstar Shakeup dropped ratings compared to the week after WrestleMania. According to ShowBuzz Daily, Smackdown had an average of 2,796,000 viewers this week which was the second night of the Superstar Shakeup. The ratings have been up and down the last few weeks floating between 2,467,000 and 2,952,000 viewers. Last week's Smackdown was the high of that stretch which was expected on the Smackdown after WrestleMania. Last week's Raw was also higher than this week's Raw to match the pattern of the two weeks following WrestleMania. The WWE did go head-to-head against a NBA Playoff game on Tuesday which performed slightly better than Smackdown in ratings and demographics. WWE beat every show not showing a basketball game on Tuesday night in the rankings. On YouTube, three videos reached over one million viewers in less than twenty-four hours. The short match between Jey Uso and Luke Harper had 1.4 million viewers, Jeff Hardy showing up on Smackdown did 2.4 millio..

Bray Wyatt Teases Wyatt Family Reunion

Bray Wyatt sent out the following today, teasing a Wyatt Family reunion:

Wyatt and Braun Strowman are on the RAW brand, while Luke Harper and Erick Rowan are on the SmackDown brand. WWE decided to split the group up around the time of the brand split. There are currently no plans for the group to get back together. However, it is being rumored that Harper & Rowan are the individuals behind the attacks on The Fashion Police.

WWE SmackDown Live Results – July 25 2017

Welcome to SmackDown Live, only 48 hours removed from the Battleground PPV!

Jinder Mahal retained the WWE Championship against Randy Orton in the Punjabi Prison match. However, to nobody’s surprise, Orton wasn’t beaten one-on-one. In fact, it took FOUR guys for Mahal to retain, including himself, The Singh Brothers, and the return of The Great Khali. Look, I don’t like the fact that Mahal is being booked so weak, nor does the return of Khali excite me, but I do like the concept of Mahal having an impressive entourage. Mahal is a beatable Champion but he has two lackeys who will go through hell for him, and a giant to be the muscle. It’s a great sight and I’m excited to see where WWE go next with the Punjabi Posse.

Kevin Owens won the United States Championship from AJ Styles at WWE Battleground. The match itself was fine but the finish left almost everyone scratching their heads. There was a seemingly unnecessary ref bump, a series of submissions in which nobody tapped, and then a weak roll-up to finish an anti-climatic match. It definitely was a blemish on a match that was only starting to get good. However, it’s likely we’ll get the rubber match between the two at SummerSlam and so the feud will continue tonight. That being said, there are rumours that last-minute plan changes were made to allow AJ to leap into a feud with Jinder Mahal. Either way, we’ll find out soon!

The New Day won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship’s on Sunday night, following the best match on the entire card. The match was fantastic and it felt like the right time to put the titles on The New Day. It’s unclear if we’re going to get a third showdown between the two teams at SummerSlam, but seeing as SmackDown’s tag division is pretty lacking, it seems likely. I’m fine with another month of these two teams going at it but in the meantime WWE really has to build a credible contender to New Day. Speaking of other teams, The Fashion Police were once again attacked on Sunday night and we’re no closer to figuring out who perpetrated the attacks. Rumour has it that Luke Harper and Erick Rowan are behind it, and I really hope that’s the case because they could be credible contender’s to the New Day should they beat The Fashion Police.

Natalya won the Five-Way Elimination Match at WWE Battleground on Sunday night, which means she will face Naomi at SummerSlam for the Women’s Championship. These two could have a good match but I worry about the feud when it comes to the microphone. That being said, WWE would do well to include Carmella in the feud and she could easily make it more interesting in the promo department, as well as give Naomi another thing to worry about.

That’s the preview for tonight’s show, which is likely to feature the continued feuds between Corbin and Nakamura, as well as Sami Zayn and Mike Kanellis. Don’t forget to check out the Ringside News app and get talking on the Ringside Talk app! Enjoy the show!

Possible Spoiler on the Mystery Team for WWE Battleground

As seen on Tuesday’s SmackDown Live, WWE announced that the conclusion of The Fashion Files will take place at Sunday’s WWE Battleground event.

Dave Meltzer mentioned on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that the mystery team behind the segments will possibly be revealed as Luke Harper and Eric Rowan. Meltzer mentioned that neither one of them haven’t been used on television for a while and this would be a good opportunity to bring them back.

Meltzer also said that there is always the chance that they could bring up a team from NXT such as Sanity to be revealed as the mystery team.

Luke Harper Calls Out WWE

Luke Harper took to his Twitter account to call out WWE for not acknowledging his battle royal elimination of Konnor on Twitter. WWE ended up deleting the tweet and Harper both ended up deleting their tweets. Here is the exchange:

WWE Twitter:
“#AndreTheGiant Memorial #BattleRoyal winner @MojoRawleyWWE is on a ROLL, eliminating @KonnorWWE & @LukeHarperWWE! #SDLive”

Luke Harper:
“Who eliminated Konnor? Thanks for watching @wwe. My name’s Luke Harper.”

Many can understand Harper’s frustrations as he rarely appears on Smackdown Live anymore.

WWE SmackDown Live Results – July 4 2017

Welcome to the 4th of July edition of SmackDown Live, in which an American hero returns to WWE: John Cena!

The 16-time WWE World Champion makes his grand return to WWE for the first time since WrestleMania, the big difference now is that Cena is a free agent. Which is essentially an excuse for him to work both Raw and SmackDown, which I would have been mad about a few years ago, but now Cena’s career is winding down I have no complaints with him working programs with as many people as possible! Who does Cena jump into a feud with in the near future? It seems inevitable that he will work with Jinder Mahal but he’s tied-up with Orton until after Battleground, so that leaves the window open for big match John to have a quick win to give him some momentum and an excuse to challenge for the title. So maybe the likes of Dolph Ziggler will step-up for a month. We should know by the end of tonight!

Elsewhere on tonight’s show, we will get a huge 4th of July Battle Royale to determine the number one contender to Kevin Owens’ US Championship. It’s unclear who will partake in the match but we do know AJ Styles is a participant and the most likely to win since he’s been gunning for a rematch with Owens after losing at WWE Backlash. I would also expect Sami Zayn, Luke Harper and Baron Corbin to take part in the multi-man match, with Owens watching from ringside. Heck, maybe even Cena will throw his hat in the ring!

Naomi and Lana seem set to lock horns again, probably at Battleground, as Lana made the legitimate claim that her shoulder wasn’t on the mat. So I would expect Lana to come out tonight and make that claim to the entire WWE Universe, as well as her request for a third shot at the title. Meanwhile The New Day and The Uso’s will partake in a rap battle tonight, with famous rapper Wale set to host the contest. The Uso’s have been fantastic since turning heel and winning the titles, particularly in all of their Talking Smack promo’s, so tonight’s segment should be entertaining if nothing else!

All that and more to come on tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live! Let us know your thoughts in the comments or on our awesome Ringside Talk app, as well as the Ringside News app, where you can find all this wrasslin’ goodness on the go! Enjoy the show!

Daniel Bryan Claims that Luke Harper’s Capabilities are Being Wasted on SmackDown Live

Daniel Bryan spoke to Fox Sports very recently. There he gave his two cents on the state of Luke Harper on SmackDown Live right now. Bryan admitted that the former Wyatt Family member is indeed being “wasted” on the blue brand.

Here are Bryan’s thoughts on Harper:

“I think that he is somebody that we can utilize better. When he left the Wyatt Family, I thought the fans were really starting to get behind him. And his match with Randy Orton, gosh, I loved his match with Randy Orton.”

The former 3-time World Champion didn’t stop singing Harper’s praise here, as he continued:

“Every time you see him, he’s dynamic. The crowd gets behind him, and then you just kind of lose him on TV, where we don’t really see him much. I think we’re really losing out on that.”

Someone Please Tell Me Where the Smackdown Midcard Is

These last few weeks on Smackdown, there’s been a noticeable lack of superstars on the show. I’m not even referring to American Alpha.

“We used to be your tag team champions!”

You’d think that with the Money in the Bank ladder match coming up, the blue brand would want to use that match to help build up some of their lower players. There’s no reason that Tye Dillinger, Luke Harper, or even Aiden English shouldn’t be in the match. Even if management didn’t want them there, at least have qualifying matches and have those guys lose. As much as I hate to say it, Smackdown’s been recycling matches ever since Backlash. Some variation of the 6 men in the ladder match will fight, they’ll tag against each other, etc. Quite a few people have been missing action, and it’s a shame, because the roster is so talented right now.

The United States Championship Is on Lock Right Now

Did you know that Luke Harper and Tye Dillinger won their matches at Backlash? Crazy, right? What are they up to now? Nothing, that’s what. They could have very easily been put into a program for the United States Championship. You know, the title that’s meant for the midcard guys? Instead, Kevin Owens is in the ladder match, and the title will not be defended at all this Sunday.

After Money in the Bank, I’m sure Shinsuke Nakamura will go on to take the title from Mr. Kevin Owens. I don’t mind that. I’m cool with that. However, it is highly unlikely that Nakamura will spend his time defending the title against Erick Rowan or Aiden English. It’s not happening.

They don’t have to win the title. I get that. Not everyone can be a champion. But give the guys some exposure. Rusev defended the title against Kalisto, Zack Ryder, and Titus O’Neil. John Cena fought the likes of Stardust and Neville for the US title. The point is, these guys who aren’t being used need a purpose.

Create Engaging Feuds For Them

Tye Dillinger had something interesting going on with Aiden English. Dillinger would beat him, and English would cry. English would also sing a lot and Dillinger would interrupt and kick him in the face. That was something.

Erick Rowan was angry at Luke Harper for leaving the family. He had a whole bunch of masks, and it was sort of cool. That was something.

After Backlash, what happened to Luke Harper and Erick Rowan? Absolutely nothing. What happened to Tye Dillinger and Aiden English? Absolutely nothing. Apparently they’re trying to start a program between Luke Harper and Aiden English. But how is someone supposed to know that if it isn’t even televised?

One of the best parts of Smackdown last year was the fact that almost everyone had something to do. Heath Slater got a job. The Usos became thugs. Kalisto wanted to fight Baron Corbin. When Raw was struggling to use more than 5 people per show, Smackdown had something for everyone. Sure, the roster was thinner, but even with the current roster you should still be able to create engaging stories for everyone. Heck, that’s what Raw is doing right now. Who attacked Enzo? Who will join the Titus Brand? Even Goldust and R-Truth are battling each other via film quotes and vignettes.

Please, Smackdown. Make better use of your roster. It’s too talented to waste.

The Taz Show Recap – Bringing Actors into WWE, Lesnar Returning to RAW Tonight, Losing is Bray Wyatt’s Job, More!

Blocks 1 & 2:

A listener calls into the show and informs that he recently watched an episode of Lucha Underground and was fascinated by Dario Cueto’s performance. Taz agrees and points out that the actor who portray’s Cueto on Lucha Underground never worked in the wrestling business before, rather he’s an actor who was brought in to play that role.

The caller also asks Taz if he thinks WWE would ever go down the same road, by bringing in actors to play authority figures or managers on WWE programming. Taz doesn’t think WWE would do this because the wrestling business is somewhat of a fraternity, and they like to stick to their own. It would also be a lot of work to train actors into the wrestling business, in terms of how the business works backstage and in front of a live audience.

Taz’s Producer Dennis Jones attended a CZW show this past weekend and although this overly violent brand of wrestling normally isn’t his cup of tea, he had a good time at this show. Taz says that CZW has been around for a long time and while it certainly isn’t for everyone, WWE Superstars such as Dean Ambrose and Luke Harper got their start in CZW.

Two Shifts In The Betting Odds for Tonight’s WWE Backlash Event

Heading into tonight’s WWE Backlash event, Randy Orton is now once again the favorite to win his match against Jinder Mahal, according to the betting odds being placed. Also, AJ Styles is the favorite to win his match as well. Back on Friday, it was the other way around for both matches.

Here is the updated odds for tonight’ show:

WWE Title Match
Randy Orton (-400) vs. Jinder Mahal (+280)

WWE United States Title Match
AJ Styles (-210) vs. Kevin Owens (+160)

SmackDown Tag Team Title Match
The Usos (-460) vs. Tyler Breeze & Fandango (+320)

Tamina Snuka, Carmella & Natalya (-900) vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch (+500)

Shinsuke Nakamura (-2600) vs. Dolph Ziggler (+1200)

Baron Corbin (-1200) vs. Sami Zayn (+600)

Luke Harper (-380) vs. Erick Rowan (+260)

Kickoff Show
Tye Dillinger (-825) vs. Aiden English (+475)
