NXT Results – February 21, 2023

NXT Date: February 21, 2023 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Booker T. We are on our way to Roadblock and then Stand & Deliver, which means we should be in for some big stuff over the next few weeks. That includes this week, as Bron Breakker defends the NXT Title against Jinder Mahal. Ok so not everything can be the biggest deal in the world. Let’s get to it. Trick Williams vs. Ilja Dragunov Before the match, Williams says that if pain makes Dragunov feel alive, he’ll be on cloud nine tonight. Williams hits him in the face before the bell so Dragunov starts angry. That means an angry headlock on the mat, with Williams having to bail to the ropes. Back up and Dragunov hits a running knee in the corner for two, followed by another such knee to keep Williams down. Dragunov goes up but gets kicked in the leg, allowing Williams to knock him to the floor. Cue JD McDonagh to watch as we take a break. Back with Dragunov fighting out of a cravate..

NXT Results – January 31, 2023

NXT Date: January 31, 2023 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Booker T. It’s the go home show for Vengeance Day and that means it is time for the hard sell, which is one of the things NXT tends to do best. In addition to the build towards the show, we also have the long awaited Creed Brothers vs. Indus Sher match, which has been postponed at least once before. Let’s get to it. Indus Sher vs. Creed Brothers Jinder Mahal and Ivy Nile are here too. Julius and Veer slug it out to start with neither getting anywhere. Brutus comes in to slug away at Sanga in the corner but Sanga takes over with the power. It’s back to Julius, who gets dropped throat first onto the top rope to put him in trouble as well. A reverse Beverly Bomb crushes Julius again and we hit the chinlock. Julius fights up and manages to get over to Brutus for the hot tag. Everything breaks down and Julius muscles Veer up for a powerbomb. The sliding lariat is broken up by Mahal t..

VIDEO: Five Stars Make Surprise Returns This Week On NXT

Welcome back. NXT is in a unique place as it is both the WWE’s in-house developmental system as well as its own wrestling show. Therefore, they have to find new ways to introduce stars and fresh faces, some of whom have been around before and are returning after a hiatus. You can see some of those returns every so often and there were several this week alone. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: She’s All Gone Now: More Details On Stephanie McMahon Leaving WWE (Again) There were five returning Superstars this week on NXT. First up, former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal returned and attacked the Creed Brothers, with the help of Sanga. This was Mahal’s first televised match since November 2022. Later, Gallus returned as part of Pretty Deadly’s gauntlet match, defeating them in the third fall. After, Gallus stared down NXT Tag Team Champions New Day. This was their first appearance since September 2022 due to a suspension. Finally, Tiffany Stratton returned after a several month hiatus after a countdown t..

Really, Him? Road Dogg Alleges Brock Lesnar Would Not Work With This One WWE Star

Just him? There are very few wrestlers in the history of WWE on the same level as Brock Lesnar. Immediately upon his debut, Lesnar was presented as The Next Big Thing and he has been a monster in the company during his on and off career. It means something for a wrestler to be paired with Lesnar, but there is reportedly one name that he would not work with for some reason. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: When Worlds Collide? WWE Veteran Would Return After 11 Years To Work With Roman Reigns One of the feature matched at Survivor Series 2017 was AJ Styles vs. Lesnar in a battle of World Champions. Styles defeated Jinder Mahal to win the WWE Title less than a month before the match, following an announced match between Mahal and Lesnar. According to Road Dogg on his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, Lesnar had no problem working with Mahal, but rather felt that he could have a better match with Styles. Dogg said he had never heard of Lesnar not wanting to work with anyone in WWE, save for only Kevin O..

WATCH: Several Former Champions Return On WWE SmackDown

Welcome back. There have been a lot of returns to WWE over the last few months and there is nothing to suggest that they will be ending anytime soon. It can mean a lot to have someone come back to the ring after some time away and sometimes it isn’t even after a major absence. That was the case this week, as multiple stars made returns after hiatuses of varying lengths. In addition to the previously reported Sarah Logan, four former champions also returned to WWE television this week on SmackDown. Logan returned along with former Raw Tag Team Champions the Viking Raiders to attack both Hit Row and Legado del Fantasma. In addition, Jinder Mahal wrestled for the first time since July, losing to Braun Strowman in the first round of the SmackDown World Cup. Commentary mentioned that Mahal had been dealing with a knee injury. Finally, Sheamus returned at the end of the show to attack the Bloodline, who had injured his arm last month. It was a big night. Check out the returns in action: [..

Other Side: Two SmackDown Stars Seem To Turn Good This Week

It’s a change. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it takes something special to make you stand out. This could be based on how someone looks, how well they can speak or what kind of character they have. If you find a mixture of all of them, you might be onto something, but at some point a change is needed. That was the case again this week, with two changed at once. This week on SmackDown, the New Day dressed up as the Viking Raiders to taunt them out to the ring. The Viking Raiders did come to the ring, where Jinder Mahal and Shanky attacked them, allowing New Day to stand tall. After the attack, Shanky and New Day danced, while Mahal looked on. This comes after Mahal and Shanky have had issues over Shanky’s lack of seriousness in recent weeks. Opinion: It’s certainly a way to go, though I’m not sure how well the whole thing is going to work. Mahal is only so interesting in the first place but maybe changing him around could let him break out a little bit. He has the potentia..

Monday Night Raw Results – June 27, 2022

Monday Night Raw Date: June 27, 2022 Location: Sames Auto Arena, Laredo, Texas Commentators: Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Jimmy Smith It’s a very special night as John Cena is here to celebrate twenty years (to the day) of his WWE debut. That should be enough to carry the night and that might need to be the case. This is also the go home edition of Raw for Money In The Bank, meaning it’s time to build momentum, establish dominance, and maybe even come up with an original tagline for what the participants are doing. Let’s get to it. Earlier today, John Cena returned to quite the hero’s welcome, meeting a bunch of applauding wrestlers and backstage workers. Money In The Bank Qualifying Match: Battle Royal T-Bar, Mustafa Ali, Shanky, Akira Tozawa, Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio, Ricochet, Shinsuke Nakamura, Jinder Mahal, Riddle, Miz, AJ Styles, Ciampa, Reggie, Shelton Benjamin, Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth, Veer Mahaan Tozawa is tossed out fast and Mahaan clotheslines Benjamin out. The Myste..

REVIEW: Backlash 2017: They Actually Did That

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Backlash 2017 Date: May 21, 2017 Location: Allstate Arena, Chicago, Illinois Commentators: Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s time for another Smackdown exclusive, which could mean things are hit or miss tonight. The card isn’t exactly the best with Jinder Mahal challenging Smackdown World Champion Randy Orton and AJ Styles challenging Kevin Owens for the US Title. Other than that though, this is kind of a stretch for a pay per view. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden Engl..

Monday Night Raw Star Undergoing Character Change

But he hasn’t started yet. There are several different ways to debut a wrestler and some of them are as old as time. One of the easiest ways in the modern era is to run a series of vignettes on television saying that a wrestler will be there soon. It builds up anticipation for the fans and then they know what they are seeing. But what if you advertise one thing and then present another? Back in November 2021, vignettes began airing on Monday Night Raw announcing that Veer Mahaan was coming to the show soon. This would be a return for Mahaan, as he had been an associate of Jinder Mahal before leaving television. Mahaan has yet to appear, though he has been advertised to appear on the April 4 Monday Night Raw. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mahaan will undergo some sort of a change to his original character. There is no word on what kind of changes will be made. Opinion: I’m getting Brodus Clay vibes here, as his return was hyped up for months before he returned as the..

An Infamous WWE Stable Had A Very Different Original Plan

It isn’t how he drew it up. Stables have been a constant factor in wrestling for a very long time, with some of the most famous names in wrestling history having been a part of one at some point. They are an easy to understand concept and allow multiple wrestlers to get television time at once. There have been some rather memorable ones over the years, but one of them was envisioned very different. Heath Slater appeared on Stories With Brisco And Bradshaw and discussed the origins of 3MB. Slater came up with the idea of putting a stable together with him, originally wanting Johnny Curtis (better known as Fandango), Dean Ambrose and EC3 on the team. After pitching the three names, he was told that WWE already had plans for Ambrose and Curtis and that EC3 wasn’t happening. Three weeks later, Slater was told that Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal would be his band instead, as that is what Vince McMahon wanted. The team debuted on September 21, 2012 until June 12, 2014 when Mahal and McIntyr..

Long Awaited Monday Night Raw Return Officially Set

They set the date. With so many things going on in WWE at any given point, it can be easy to believe that they have forgotten about a wrestler or two. Sometimes this goes on so long that it becomes almost a parody, especially if WWE shows any kind of interests in someone without doing anything important with them. That is the case again, and now we know something else about what is going on. Back in October’s WWE Draft, Jinder Mahal and Shanky were sent to SmackDown, leaving Veer Mahaan with nothing to do. Mahaan was soon shown in vignettes saying that he would be coming to Monday Night Raw soon. However, Mahaan has yet to wrestle a match on the show since the Draft and the “coming soon” graphics have continued. This week on Monday Night Raw, the graphic changed, announcing that Mahaan would appear on the show on April 4, offering the first concrete date. Opinion: I have no idea what to expect from Mahaan once he finally gets in the ring but it is about time. These vignettes had turn..

Brock Lesnar Nixed A Planned Champion vs. Champion Match

That’s going to be a no. WWE is a huge company with a lot of different moving parts, but there are always going to be some things that do not make the most sense. Some of these instances involve plans that seem to change at the last minute, which was the case with a major match just a few years ago. The match never took place, and now we know the simple reason why. Jinder Mahal won the WWE Title in May 2017 and held it until November of the same year, ultimately losing it to AJ Styles. The loss canceled a scheduled match between Mahal and Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at the Survivor Series. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the last minute change was due to the fact that Lesnar did not want to work with Mahal. Lesnar went on to defeat Styles at Survivor Series. It wound up going well. Check out Lesnar vs. Styles, plus what we could have seen: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Op..

WWE Has No Plans For Heavily Hyped Monday Night Raw Debut

Run that by me again? There are all kinds of wrestlers on the WWE roster and it can be difficult to figure out something for all of them to do. Some of them are easier than others, but there are several wrestlers who seem to be standing around, waiting on some kind of story. That is the case with one Monday Night Raw star and he could be waiting for a long time to come. Over the last several weeks, WWE has aired vignettes advertising the debut of Veer Mahaan. However, according to Fightful Select, there are no current plans for Mahaan and WWE is aware of how long the vignettes have been airing with no progress. There was also no specific reason for splitting Mahaan from Jinder Mahal and Shanky, who went to SmackDown in the WWE Draft. You might not remember Mahaan at this point. Check out some of his time in WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is one of those things that..

New Participant Set For Men’s Survivor Series Match

He’s up next. The Survivor Series has always been a tricky show to present as there are so many people involved in the show’s namesake matches. That does not leave you a lot of options for the rest of the show, but it can get even more confusing if changes have to be made. That was the case this year, and now we seem to have the official, final lineup for everything. Last week on SmackDown, Jeff Hardy defeated Sami Zayn in a match, resulting in Zayn being removed from the SmackDown men’s Survivor Series team. There was no replacement named, so this week’s show saw a four way match to determine the final team member. Sheamus defeated Cesaro, Ricochet and Jinder Mahal to earn the final spot and complete the team. This should be good. Check out the match, plus what Sheamus has done in the Survivor Series before: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This works as well as anything else..

WWE Star Lands Regular Role On ABC Series

It’s a bonus. Wrestlers are a lot of things, but to outsiders, they are often called actors who are pretending to do a lot of things on any given show. Somehow that rarely turns into success in the acting world, though every now and then you see someone getting a chance to show what they can do in Hollywood. Now it seems that we will be seeing that again with a prominent WWE star. Former WWE Champion and current SmackDown star Jinder Mahal has announced that he will be appearing as a regular character on ABC’s series Big Sky. The show airs every Thursday night at 10pm EST, with Mahal playing a character named Dhruv. Mahal’s first appearance will be on November 18 and he says he will be appearing on the show every week. The Maharaja has joined the cast of @BigSkyABC season 2 as Dhruv. Starting Tomorrow and every Thurs at 10/9C PM on @ABCNetwork and @hulu. #bigskyabc pic.twitter.com/ptarZWqkXm — The Maharaja (@JinderMahal) November 17, 2021 Mahal is certainly a star in WWE. Monday Night Raw Star Gets Name Addition

Maybe it’s what he needs. Wrestlers’ names are some of the most important aspects of their entire persona, as the wrong name can have quite the negative impact. At the same time though, having the right name can make all of the difference in the world, especially if the name is changed at the right time. That might be the case again with a Monday Night Raw star. This week on Monday Night Raw, a vignette aired advertising that Veer Mahaan was coming to the show soon. This marks a name change for Mahaan, who had previously gone only by his first name. Mahaan debuted on Monday Night Raw earlier this year as one of Jinder Mahal’s enforcers but twas split off from him, as Mahal and Shanky were both sent to SmackDown in the WWE Draft. There is no word on when Mahaan will make his debut as a singles star. VEER MAHAAN COMING TO #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/8sqbOZQWnD — WWE (@WWE) November 2, 2021 He has done well so far. Check out what Mahaan has done in WWE: [This post contains video, click t..

Two New Matches Set For WWE Crown Jewel

And then there were two. We are less than four days away from WWE’s Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia and that means the show is going to be one of the biggest of the year. The shows airing from the country are often stacked with one big match after another and that will be the case again this time. Now we know two more of the matches and both have something on the line. The finals of the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown tournaments were officially set during this week’s Monday Night Raw. Xavier Woods defeated Jinder Mahal to earn the right to face Finn Balor for the King of the Ring. Later, Doudrop defeated Shayna Baszler, meaning she will face Zelina Vega. This year marks the first time that WWE has ever presented the Queen’s Crown tournament. This should work well. More WWE Draft Picks From Raw Talk, Plus Remaining Free Agents

We aren’t done yet. The WWE Draft has come and gone for the year and it was certainly an eventful pair of nights. There were dozens of moves made with wrestlers jumping from show to show. At the same time though, there were some wrestlers who stayed on the shows they have been on for months now. It turns out that Monday Night Raw and SmackDown was not everything though, as we have some more picks. This week’s edition of Raw Talk included several more picks in the 2021 Draft. Both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown received additional picks, which were announced in a group rather than show by show. There were teams split up while one team did stay together as they moved. None of these picks had been made before the show aired. Here are the Raw Talk picks in no particular order: Monday Night Raw Dana Brooke Robert Roode Dolph Ziggler Jaxson Ryker Veer Liv Morgan Nox Tamina Mia Yim Shelton Benjamin Cedric Alexander Miz Smackdown Shotzi Natalya Jinder Mahal Shanky These names are in additi..

VIDEO: Drew McIntyre’s Wardrobe Malfunction At WWE Live Event

Anything can happen. While you might not care for the quality of the show itself, there is little denying just how polished everything is in a WWE production. Between the lights, the pyro, the music and everything else that goes into it, WWE puts on a good looking show. There is always the chance of an error though, and this time the error was in part of the wardrobe situation. Over the weekend, WWE held a live event in Washington DC, which featured a street fight between Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal. McIntyre came to the ring, but could not get his kilt to come off. Ring announcer Byron Saxton had to help McIntyre, who ultimately took the microphone and asked if anyone in the crowd could help him get out of his kilt. Eventually he shook it off, after which he said he hoped no one had a cell phone camera in the building. It can only happen live. Check out what happened to McIntyre, plus some other funny WWE moments: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains vi..
