It can happen to anyone. Injuries are one of the great equalizers in wrestling as any wrestler can get hurt and put on the shelf at any time. You never want to see someone get hurt and left out of the ring for any amount of time, as their time on the injured list could go on for awhile. Now another AEW star has revealed that he is hurt, but he has an idea of how long he will be out. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: One Step: Huge Update On Jeff Hardy’s DUI Charges, Case Closed AEW’s Fuego del Sol has announced that he suffered a foot injury during a match in Sacramento, California last Sunday. The injury took place when del Sol hit a dropkick but his opponent landed on him, resulting in a dislocated foot. The foot was popped back into place during the match, but damage was still done. Del Sol also suffered a small fracture near his toe. He is expected to miss five to six weeks of action, though any possible ligament damage could extend his time up to about three months. Unfortunately I suffer..
That wraps it up. Wrestlers have a lot to deal with on a regular basis and that isn’t even taking into account things outside of the ring. In addition to wrestling, they often have to deal with the same kinds of problems that normal people have to face. Sometimes those things are especially serious, like a problem that an AEW star seems to have taken a step towards overcoming. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s Back: AEW Star Returning To Action After 8+ Month Hiatus According to Fightful, Jeff Hardy’s DUI case has been closed as Hardy pled no contest to the June 2022 charges. Hardy was facing charges of Driving While License Canceled/Suspended/Revoked, Violation of Restrictions Placed on Drivers License, and DUI Alcohol/Drugs Third Offense within 10 Years. He had been suspended by AEW until he completed rehab and demonstrated that he could maintain his sobriety, a suspension that is still active. Hardy has been find $4,000, plus $586 in court costs, by the court and is on probation for 24 ..
That’s some good news. Jeff Hardy has not been seen on AEW television since June when he was arrested for a number of violations, including driving under the influence. However, it looks like we may be seeing him sooner rather than later. According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Hardy is expected to be out of rehab soon, and back inside the ring. It is unknown exactly when this will be happening. Due to his arrest, Tony Khan suspended Hardy without pay on June 14 of this year. Hardy was mentioned on AEW television this past week by his brother Matt, in a promo setting up a match with Darby Allin. Editor’s Opinion: This is excellent news for everyone involved, and I’m glad he is getting the help that he needs. Despite his age, he is still one of the most exciting performers in the company, and fans always looking forward to seeing him on television. I hope that we see him back sooner rather than later and that he gets to do what he does best! “GET EXCLUS..
I picked a heck of a week to do a column in advance last week because everything went haywire. Ignoring the whole Jeff Hardy fiasco (which seems like something that is far from over), there was the crazy shakeup at WWE. There were changed made in the last week or so that would have seemed unthinkable not so long ago but now have come to be a reality. That’s what we are going to be looking at this week (shocking I know), plus one bit of fallout that might make things all the worse, at least for fans. So as you probably know, WWE is officially investigating Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis for an affair with a WWE employee. McMahon reportedly paid to keep her quiet, as well as raised her salary when the affair began before passing her to Laurinaitis “like a toy”. I’ll let your skin crawl for a bit after that thought before moving on to what this has already meant. The initial fallout from these shenanigans has already started, with McMahon taking a step back from his roles as CEO and..
That would have been different. Title matches are some of the most important parts of any wrestling show. A title changing hands can mean a new direction for the wrestlers or perhaps even the promotion as a whole. It can be a big deal to see a title change hands and that was the case again this week. However, it seems that things did not change as originally planned. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw the Young Bucks win the AEW Tag Team Titles from Jurassic Express in a ladder match. The match was originally supposed to include the Hardys but Jeff Hardy’s arrest resulted in the team being pulled. According to Fightful Select, some AEW wrestlers had heard plans of a possible Tag Team Title run for the Hardys before Double Or Nothing. However, Hardy was reportedly intoxicated in the hotel lobby over Double Or Nothing weekend. This combined with the Hardys vs. Bucks match at the pay per view ended any discussion of the Hardys winning the titles. Opinion: The Hardys are in a..
Double history has been made. AEW has only been around for a little over three years now and that time has seen the company build up its own history. The company has a series of championships and stars in its time and that means they are able to put together some very good things. That was the case again this week as history was made in more ways than just one. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw the Young Bucks regain the AEW Tag Team Titles from Jurassic Express in a ladder match. This makes the Bucks the first ever two time champions in the company’s history. Following the loss, Christian Cage, who had been serving as a mentor to Jurassic Express, turned on the team by attacking Jungle Boy. The match was originally scheduled to include the Hardys but they were removed following Jeff Hardy’s DUI arrest earlier this week. Opinion: I’m not entirely stunned by the Bucks getting the titles back, as they are the most famous team AEW has ever had. That should open up some poss..
Dynamite Date: June 15, 2022 Location: Chaifetz Arena, St. Louis, Missouri Commentators: Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone The road to Forbidden Door continues and as has been the case with AEW in recent weeks, things have gotten a little bit screwy. This time around it is Jeff Hardy getting arrested for driving under the influence, meaning that he will not be around for this week’s Tag Team Title match. Hopefully this doesn’t throw the show into chaos so let’s get to it. Chris Jericho vs. Ortiz Hair vs. hair, the Jericho Appreciation Society and Eddie Kingston are here, and William Regal is on commentary. Ortiz charges in and knocks Jericho to the floor for some biting of the face. Jericho takes over outside and hammers away inside, only to have Ortiz get in some shots of his own. The suicide dive is broken up though and Jericho hits a suplex off the apron to the floor as we take a break. Back with Ortiz clotheslining his way out of trouble and hitting a quick cutter. Jericho rol..
That’s a rough one to watch. While he is certainly a very talented wrestler, Jeff Hardy also has some issues outside the ring. Unfortunately some of these are legal issues which have caused him several problems over the years. The problems have flared up again this week, and now we can see just how bad things got, even in a situation that was already bad in the first place. Earlier this week, Hardy was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and other issues. Since then, TMZ have released the dashboard video from the police car, showing three police officers pulling their guns on Hardy for not obeying their orders to exit his car. The officers then remove Hardy from the car and have him sit down, where they interview him about his driving. Hardy said that he was on his way to the doctor for a “brain scan”, which he could not explain. The video ends with Hardy undergoing field sobriety tests and being handcuffed. Hardy has since been suspended from AEW as a result of the arr..
It had been previously reported that Jeff Hardy was recently arrested in Volusia County, Florida, on charges of driving on a suspended license, violating restrictions placed on a driver’s license, and driving under the influence. Tony Khan has released the following statement regarding Hardy’s status with AEW: “We were able to resume contact with Jeff Hardy this afternoon. AEW does not condone Jeff’s alleged behavior. We’ve made it clear to Jeff that we’ll assist him in getting treatment for substance abuse issues, which he has indicated that he’s open to receiving. In the interim, he is suspended without pay, and he can only return to AEW upon successfully completing treatment and maintaining his sobriety,” Khan’s statement said. “If you or a loved one needs help, please reach out to SAMHSA’s National Helpline: 1-800-662-HELP (4357).” pic.twitter.com/pDJA55cyaN — Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) June 14, 2022 Unfortunately, this is not the first time this type of offense has occurred; Hard..
It gets bigger. There are very few modern wrestling stars on the level of Jeff Hardy. After one of the most successful tag team careers in history, Hardy went on to become a top singles star and multiple time World Champion. However, personal issues have taken their toll on him, including another DUI arrest earlier this week. Now things have gotten even worse for Hardy. According to F4WOnline.com, following Hardy’s DUI arrest, WarnerMedia issued a decree that Hardy was not to be used in any more promotion for AEW programming. A ladder match scheduled for this week’s AEW Dynamite between the Hardys, the Young Bucks and the Jurassic Express is no longer being advertised in AEW’s official preview. In addition, according to PWInsider.com, Hardy has paid his bond and will appear in court on Tuesday at 1:30 PM. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that almost has to happen, and I’m not sure when Hardy is going to be back on AEW TV. If WarnerMedia doesn’t want Hardy on the show, he isn’t goin..
That’s always sad to see. There are a lot of people in the wrestling business and some of them have some issues that take place outside of the ring. Unfortunately some of these are rather serious, including problems that can put the wrestlers and others in danger. That seems to be the case again, as a wrestler with a long history of issues has had another serious problem. As announced by the Volusia County, Florida police department, AEW’s Jeff Hardy has been arrested and faces a number of charges. This includes driving on a suspended license, violating restrictions placed on a driver’s license and driving under the influence, with the latter being the third such charge that Hardy has faced in three years. Hardy is currently scheduled to team with his brother to challenge for the AEW Tag Team Titles this week on Dynamite. https://volusiamug.vcgov.org/Details.aspx?InmateRID=543747 Opinion: I’m not even sure what to say at this point. It is clear that hardy needs help and there is not..
It happens to everyone. Injuries are one of the things that you see happen to any wrestler at any time. You never know when someone is going to go down but there are times when you have a good idea that something bad is coming. That does not make it any easier though, and now we are seeing a pair of prominent names going onto the injured list after some rough matches. AEW announced that a ten man tag would be taking place this week on Dynamite, but eventually changed the match to an eight man tag with two names being taken out. According to Wrestling Observer Live, Adam Cole was pulled from the match due to an unspecified injury. In addition, according to Wrestling Observer Radio, Jeff Hardy was also pulled from the match due to injuries. Hardy was said to be “a mess” going into Double Or Nothing, which was said to have mainly been caused by his match against Darby Allin earlier in the month. There is no word on when either will be back in the ring. Opinion: Who would have guessed th..
Not so fast. AEW has done quite a few things well in its just over three years of existence. One of their best things has been its pay per view events. The events are the most important for AEW as the company gets to showcase their biggest stars and matches. Those shows have to be followed up though, and now one of the followups will be a bit different than advertised. Following this weekend’s Double Or Nothing event, AEW announced that a ten man tag team match would take place this week on Dynamite. The match would see the Undisputed Elite face Jurassic Express/Christian Cage/Hardys. However, AEW has since updated the announcement and turned it into an eight man tag, with Jeff Hardy and Adam Cole removed from the match. There is no word on why the changes were made. See the fallout from #AEWDoN as a huge 8-man tag match is set for #AEWDynamite THIS WEDNESDAY at 8/7c LIVE on TBS, as #AEW World Tag Team Champs @boy_myth_legend/@luchasaurus team w/ @Christian4Peeps/@MATTHARDYBRAND to f..
Dynamite Date: May 4, 2022 Location: Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena, Baltimore, Maryland Commentators: Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone I’m not sure how but we’re less than a month away from Double Or Nothing. Last week’s show saw the announcement that CM Punk would be challenging Hangman Page for the World Title at the pay per view so at least they have the top match set up pretty far in advance. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Owen Hart Foundation Qualifying Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Bobby Fish Adam Cole is on commentary and Matt Hardy and Kyle O’Reilly are at ringside. Fish takes him into the corner to start and kicks away at the leg, setting up a dragon screw legwhip onto the other leg. They head outside with another dragon screw legwhip sending Hardy into the barricade and we take a break. Back with Hardy making a comeback and dropping Fish to go up top. The Swanton is broken up though and it’s the super Falcon Arrow to put Hardy down for two. Fish grabs the kneebar bu..
AEW President Tony Khan was recently interviewed on an episode of Barstool Rasslin’, where he discussed a number of topics. Among them was Cody Rhodes’ departure from the company, signing Samoa Joe, and more. Below are some highlights from the interview: On Cody Rhodes leaving AEW for WWE: “Yeah, I think it’s just one of those things where, you know, we couldn’t reach an agreement on going forward. I think he has found a situation that’s good for him, and we’re in a great position right now. There’s no ill will either way,” Khan said. “We’re still friends, and I wish him the best. I think he wished us the best publicly and privately. So it’s all good.” “Any buzz for professional wrestling is great for professional wrestling as long as it’s positive stuff, positive stories. I hope [Rhodes] keeps doing positive stuff and wish him the best,” said Khan. On signing Samoa Joe, others: “Just in recent weeks, Samoa Joe, Toni Storm, Jeff Hardy, Swerve Strickland have all come in, Keith L..
It’s worth a closer look. AEW has brought in a variety of wrestlers over its short history and some of them have made quite the impact. The wrestlers have been a mixture of new wrestlers, up and coming stars and established veterans, some of whom are able to get a new life in AEW. That is what happened last week, and now we have a little more to see from what happened. Last week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured the debut of Jeff Hardy, who saved his brother Matt from an attack. This latest edition of Being The Elite features bonus footage from Jeff’s debut, including Jeff standing backstage and hearing his entrance music start. Later in the show, the Hardys told the Young Bucks that they are coming for the AEW Tag Team Titles to prove that they are the greatest team of all time. There is no word on when the two teams could face off. There is a lot here. Check out the latest episode: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Your mileage on Jeff coming to AEW may vary, b..
They have something in mind. AEW has changed the way modern wrestling works and that is through a rather versatile roster. The company has offered several wrestlers a new place to go, with some of those names being seasoned veterans. This has included some major signings, another of which took place this week. Now we know a bit of an interesting detail about the situation. This week’s AEW Dynamite featured the debut of Jeff Hardy, who has signed with the company after leaving WWE in December. Jeff saved his brother Matt, along with Sting and Darby Allin, from a beating at the hands of the AFHO. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the team was wearing the same gear they wore in their 20s as a tag team. In addition, according to Fightful Select, Matt has adjusted his AEW contract so that it ends at the same time as Jeff’s, though it is not clear when their contracts expire. Opinion: I’m not the biggest Hardys fan but this was certainly a moment that could lead to some bigger stuff d..
There he is. Wrestlers jump from promotion to promotion fairly frequently these days, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting. It can be a lot of fun to see someone show up in a different company, as you never know what they might be doing. Sometimes it is nearly impossible to hide who is going to be showing up though and that was the case again with the latest debut. Jeff Hardy made his AEW debut this week on Dynamite, saving his brother Matt, Sting and Darby Allin from an attack at the hands of Andrade El Idolo, Private Party and the Butcher and the Blade. This came three months after Jeff was released from WWE after walking out on a match at a live event. There is no word on what Jeff will be doing now that he is a part of AEW. Opinion: This isn’t exactly a surprise and that is not a bad thing. Your mileage on the Hardys getting back together again might vary but at least we have gotten to the point and can see their latest reunion. I don’t blame AEW for trying something like t..
They need to boost things up. AEW has done some impressive things in its short history and a lot of that has been due to its roster. The company has built up a mixture of veterans and younger stars to go with their up and coming wrestlers. That is quite the setup to put together and now they seem ready to bring in even more. Each of them just happens to be in a different state. Wrestling Observer Radio is reporting updates on three different stars that AEW is considering bringing into the company. First up, Johnny Gargano is not expected to make an appearance at any point in the next month or so and there is no guarantee that he is coming in whatsoever. The other two names mentioned are Jeff Hardy and Shane Strickland, both of whom are expected to be in “relatively soon”. Hardy’s no compete clause expires on March 8 while Strickland is already a free agent and could debut at any time. Opinion: None of these are exactly a surprise, but they would all make some form of an impact. Hardy..
