One More Ride? Update On The Shield Reuniting In WWE Anytime Soon

Don’t get your hopes up. There have been a lot of great stables throughout WWE’s history, with some of the better ones being around in recent years. It makes sense for a stable to be successful in modern wrestling, as there is a heck of a lot more television time for the teams to dominate. WWE name dropped a very successful stable recently, but a reunion does not seem likely. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Nikki Cross Teases Return Of Former Stable Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins and United States Champion Theory had a face to face confrontation. During their talk, Theory said that Rollins was the third most successful member of the Shield. This comes as WWE recently finished celebrating the ten year anniversary of the Shield’s WWE debut at Survivor Series 2012. This led to some speculation about a possible Shield reunion in WWE, but this is not likely at the time. Earlier this year, Jon Moxley (formerly Dean Ambrose of the Shield) signed a new deal with AEW, which..

WWE Celebrating a Decade of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins

Believe. WWE is beginning a special event in the month of November that commemorates the 10-year anniversary of Roman Reigns and Seth “Freakin” Rollins making their debut with the company. From WWE.com: Ten years ago this month, the WWE Universe was first introduced to two Superstars who would go on to change the face of sports-entertainment, Roman Reigns and Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Alongside their Shield teammate Dean Ambrose, Reigns and Rollins emerged from the crowd on Nov. 18, 2012, to interrupt the main event of that year’s Survivor Series, setting in motion two careers that have forever since been intertwined. Since that seminal night, The Head of the Table and The Visionary have become nothing short of WWE’s standard-bearers. They’ve won World Championships (including Reigns’ currently held Undisputed WWE Universal Title), headlined WWE’s biggest Premium Live Events and consistently been the talk of the WWE Universe, both as beloved fan-favorites and controversial rulebreake..

REVIEW: Money In The Bank 2015: A Bunch Of Ladders

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Money in the Bank 2015 Date: June 14, 2015 Location: Nationwide Arena, Columbus, Ohio Commentators: Jerry Lawler, John Bradshaw Layfield, Michael Cole It’s already time to crown a new Mr. Money in the Bank, just two and a half months after Seth Rollins cashed in during the main event of Wrestlemania XXXI. In addition to the ladder match, the main event is…..another ladder match! Seth Rollins will defend his WWE World Title against Dean Ambrose after saying he doesn’t need the Authority’s help. Let’s g..

WATCH: Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins From Money in the Bank 2016

Believe In The Shield. WWE has released a new video on YouTube, in which they show the full match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins from the 2016 Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Dean Ambrose, who won the “Money in the Bank” briefcase earlier in the evening, would strike while the iron was hot, and cash in his contract to become the new champion. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: The Architect fought like a man looking to reclaim both his title and his pride, facing Reigns for the first time without The Authority or J&J Security ready to intervene on his behalf. Some early ring rust aside, Rollins quickly showed he still possessed the skills that took him to the top. But going toe-to-toe with “The Guy” proved to be a poor strategy when Reigns used his strength advantage to overpower his foe with clotheslines, headbutts and a tilt-a-whirl slam to the reeling Rollins. The Architect remained defiant, if not compet..

An Infamous WWE Stable Had A Very Different Original Plan

It isn’t how he drew it up. Stables have been a constant factor in wrestling for a very long time, with some of the most famous names in wrestling history having been a part of one at some point. They are an easy to understand concept and allow multiple wrestlers to get television time at once. There have been some rather memorable ones over the years, but one of them was envisioned very different. Heath Slater appeared on Stories With Brisco And Bradshaw and discussed the origins of 3MB. Slater came up with the idea of putting a stable together with him, originally wanting Johnny Curtis (better known as Fandango), Dean Ambrose and EC3 on the team. After pitching the three names, he was told that WWE already had plans for Ambrose and Curtis and that EC3 wasn’t happening. Three weeks later, Slater was told that Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal would be his band instead, as that is what Vince McMahon wanted. The team debuted on September 21, 2012 until June 12, 2014 when Mahal and McIntyr..

REVIEW: Elimination Chamber 2015: The Bonus Show

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Elimination Chamber 2015 Date: May 31, 2015 Location: American Bank Center, Corpus Christi, Texas Commentators: Michael Cole, Booker T., Jerry Lawler It’s another pay per view just two weeks after Payback but the card has been put together fairly well this time. The main event this time is WWE World Champion Seth Rollins defending against Dean Ambrose, plus the Tag Team Titles and Intercontinental Title being decided inside the Chamber, both for the first time ever. Let’s get to it. Pre-Show: Zack Ryder vs. Stard..

Yes Him: WWE Thought About Making James Ellsworth WWE Champion

That would have been something. There are a lot of titles in the wrestling world and some of them are rather prestigious. Some of those titles have been around for a very long time, with some of the better known championships being sanctioned by WWE. Winning a championship in WWE means something in the wrestling world, and it seems that a surprising name almost won the company’s signature title. During a recent interview on the Cheap Heat Productions podcast, former WWE star James Ellsworth said that there had been discussions of him winning the WWE Championship in 2016. Ellsworth did feud with WWE Champion AJ Styles during 2016, including defeating him twice with the help of Dean Ambrose. The feud saw Ellsworth receive two shots at the title, one of which resulted in a disqualification victory over Styles. Ellsworth did make it clear that he did not believe the plans were legitimate and that he should not have been champion. Opinion: I don’t think there was any serious consideration..

Seth Rollins Makes Rare Direct Reference To AEW Star On WWE SmackDown

Who was that again? As is the case in almost any other job, wrestlers often move from one employer to another. In this case, wrestlers jump from promotion to promotion, which can make for some interesting moves. Some of these are a lot more interesting than others, but it can be fascinating to see where someone winds up. It can be an even bigger deal to hear them referenced again, and that was the case this week. This week’s edition of WWE SmackDown featured a confrontation between Seth Rollins and the Bloodline. During the segment, Rollins and Roman Reigns argued back and forth, with Rollins referencing the pair’s time in the Shield. Rollins said that the Usos were holding Reigns up, “just like Mox and I held you up during the Shield.” This was a rare reference to Dean Ambrose under his AEW name of Jon Moxley. In a related note, Moxley returned to the ring for the first time since October this week on AEW Rampage. Opinion: That is one of those situations that doesn’t mean very much ..

RUMOR KILLER: Former WWE Champion Not Returning For Royal Rumble

Not so fast. The Royal Rumble is in less than two weeks and that means we are going to be able to see some of the most important matches of the year in WWE. The show’s namesake matches are going to help set up this year’s WrestleMania 38 and the women’s field has some interesting entrants. One of them, in addition to a recent rumor, had some people speculating about something bigger, but it does not seem likely. Earlier this week, a rumor broke that WWE was considering bringing in a male wrestler from another promotion, known as opening the Forbidden Door, for the Royal Rumble. Later in the week on SmackDown, WWE presented a look at Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins, which included some shots of Dean Ambrose, who now wrestled in AEW under the name Jon Moxley. However, according to Dave Meltzer, this will not be the case and WWE will not be working with AEW on the show. It should be noted that WrestleVotes never mentioned AEW or Moxley. Opinion: I don’t think this is the biggest surprise,..

VIDEO: Former WWE Star Releases New Teaser Video

It’s a nice tease. Soon after Dean Ambrose was released from WWE, a video appeared on his social media accounts showing him escaping from prison. Fans began analyzing the video to look for clues and found a few things, but what mattered the most was the fact that people were talking. Ambrose then debuted for AEW as Jon Moxley and he was off to the races. Now someone is trying the same thing. Former WWE star Buddy Murphy has released a video to his social media accounts, featuring him standing in a prison cell, banging himself against a wall. Murphy was released from WWE in June of this year, meaning that his no compete clause is expected to expire on August 31. There is no word on where he will be signing next, but he has already booked for an independent match against AEW’s Brian Cage on September 18. This could be interesting. Check out his new video plus some of what he could do in WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This p..

Triple H Stayed In Contact With Jon Moxley For A Good Reason

Across enemy lines. Wrestling has changed a lot over the years, but there are some things that are absolute standards. One of the biggest is wrestling companies not exactly getting along with each other, which makes sense as it is all about business. The companies each want to make the most money possible, but that does not mean everyone is at each others’ throats. Now we have a good example of some good will. During a recent episode of her Oral Sessions podcast, Renee Paquette talked about how WWE COO Triple H would check on her husband Jon Moxley when he was out of action with a staph infection. This came after Moxley had left WWE and moved over to AEW, though Triple H continued to ask about Moxley, saying WWE would help him in any way they could. Paquette said that it was nice to know that the olive branch was still there and that “nothing bad went down.” Moxley wrestled for WWE from 2011 – 2019 under the name Dean Ambrose. During his time with the company, Moxley won several titl..

How Jon Moxley Got Ric Flair Arrested (Allegedly)

That’s a wrestling story. There are certain stories that you hear that could only exist in wrestling. A business that is built around carrying on a huge lie throughout every match and show makes for a rather unique situation. Some wrestlers are more famous for their stories than their in-ring abilities but others are known for both. That is the case again, though the story does not have the happiest ending. There are almost no legends in wrestling history on the same level as Ric Flair. Not only is he one of the best in-ring wrestlers of all time but there are more stories about him than anyone not named Andre The Giant. Flair has done more things and caused more chaos than almost anyone ever, though sometimes he is not the most innocent in the whole thing. Even though he is retired, Flair is not done just yet. In a new interview with the Metro, Jon Moxley told a story of he and Flair getting drunk at an airport bar when Moxley was wrestling as Dean Ambrose in WWE. Flair would wind u..

Jon Moxley Competing In Bloodsport Fight

Share the wealth. AEW has gone from non-existent to one of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world in a pretty short amount of time. They have had more success than could have reasonably been expected and that is very impressive. A lot of that is due to the talent that they have on their roster, but a good number of them are not under exclusive contracts. That will be on display soon. Back at Double Or Nothing 2019, Jon Moxley, formerly known as Dean Ambrose in WWE, made his debut at the end of the show and became one of the biggest stars AEW had. It was a heck of a coup for the company and Moxley went on to become the company’s second, and longest reigning, World Champion. However, AEW is not going to be the only place that you can see him. Josh Barnett has announced that Moxley will be fighting at Bloodsport 3 on October 11. The event will feature a series of no ropes, submission or knockout only fights between various wrestlers. There is no word on who Moxley will be facing...

Here’s What Was Originally Planned For Dean Ambrose At WrestleMania 35

Who else was on the Lunatic Fringe? One of the most interesting stories of the year so far has been the contract status of Dean Ambrose. WWE announced that he would be leaving the company in April and has gone so far as to pull him from future house shows. Before Ambrose decided to try his hand elsewhere, something was in the works for him and it turns out that it was going to be a big deal. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ambrose was scheduled to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 35 in what was likely to be a match for the Universal Title. The plans were changed back in October when Reigns announced that he was suffering from leukemia, meaning that any plans were thrown out the window. Since then, Ambrose decided to not re-sign with the company and he currently is not scheduled for a WrestleMania match. They’ve headlined a show for a title before. Check out Ambrose vs. Reigns from Survivor Series 2015: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: this isn’t ..

WWE Has Plans To Continue The Shield Without Dean Ambrose

So that’s how they’re keeping it going. This past Sunday at Fastlane, the main event was centered around the Shield having one last ride together. With Dean Ambrose not re-signing with WWE after next month, it was time to wrap things up for the team once and for all. However, with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins sticking around, something could still be done. According to Ringsidenews.com, local advertisements for the upcoming European tour, which is scheduled to take place after Ambrose is set to leave the company, feature Rollins and Reigns teaming up with Braun Strowman as an honorary member of the Shield. The team will face off with Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin in six man tags. This isn’t the first time such a thing has happened, as Triple H served as an honorary member in 2017. He really did it. Check out Triple H as part of the team: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This makes as much sense as anything else as you can’t blame WWE for trying t..

It’s never too early to start making assumptions. The contract situations in WWE are always an interesting discussion with WrestleMania season being a more energetic time than most.
