By His Ruling: Lawsuit Filed Against WWE By MLW Dismissed, Case Not Over Yet

Dismissed for now. While WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world, they are certainly not the only one. The company has dominated the industry for so long but there are still several other promotions to be found. One such promotion was not happy with WWE’s actions and did something about it, but that has not turned out very well for them. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s On: WWE Officially Sets Trilogy Match For Elimination Chamber In January 2022, Major League Wrestling (MLW) filed a lawsuit against WWE, claiming that WWE had interfered with MLW’s contract negotiations with Tubi and VICE TV. This week, according to PWInsider.com, US District Court Judge Edward J. Davila dismissed the case, basically saying that MLW did not make a strong enough argument to back up claims of WWE violating antitrust laws. MLW has 21 days to file an amended complaint, with MLW owner Court Bauer issuing a statement to PWInsider saying the company’s legal team is already working on..

Only Him: MJF Wins Award From ESPN And He Is Not Happy About It

That’s not a normal complaint. You can often recognize a star in the wrestling world when you see one and more often than not, it is someone who stands out. A wrestler who acts differently is going to get noticed a lot more easily and that can lead to a lot of success. That is the case with one of AEW’s top stars and now he is being recognized for his abilities. However, he isn’t exactly happy with the recognition. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Delay Continues: AEW Wrestler Receives Bad Medical News ESPN announced its 2022 Wrestling Awards this week, with AEW’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman being named Promo Artist Of The Year. Friedman replied on Twitter, asking if he was getting a “f****** plaque for this bulls***.” ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski instead offered a DVD of “Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has A Glitch” with a picture hanger on the back. As a result, Friedman said “go to h*** Greg.” Read our best of 2022 in the squared circle. The only place that gives me a chance to opine on @LoganPaul and @T..

AEW Officials Spoke To Two Stars After Recent Aggressive Match

That could have gotten bad. There are a lot of issues that take place during a wrestling show but one of the most impressive things a company can do is keep the fans from knowing about them. Sometimes you can notice a problem here or there though and that was the case last week, to the point where a promotion’s officials had to make sure that everything was ok. Last week on AEW Dark, Athena defeated Jody Threat in a match that saw both of them get more aggressive than usual. According to Fightful Select, AEW officials spoke to both of the women backstage to make sure everything was ok after the match. Sources close to Athena believe that she switched into a heel role during the match because of the positive reaction that Threat received during the match. Threat was said to have no complaints as she tries to avoid the political side of wrestling. Neither woman was said to be upset about anything that happened and there was no confrontation backstage. Opinion: The good thing here is th..

Kurt Angle: “I Have All the Faith in the World That Stephanie and Triple H Will be Able to Carry [WWE]”

WWE legend Kurt Angle was recently interviewed by Bleacher Report to promote his upcoming episode of A&E’s Biography: WWE Legends this Sunday night. He discussed several topics, including the documentary, managing Chad Gable, the future of WWE, and more. Below are some highlights from the interview: On the biography: “I really hit on a lot of things I had to overcome,” he said. “The documentary is about overcoming. Overcoming my addiction, my injuries, deaths of close family members. It’s really about redemption and turning my life around and being a good husband, father and role model. “Good things happen in your life, bad things happen in your life, but it’s all about how you respond to them and how you overcome them,” he added. “When you’re high on your horse and doing really well, there’s no complaints, but when you’re down in the gutter, it’s really hard to get out of it, and I know that personally.” On managing Chad Gable: “I would love to manage Chad Gable and Otis,” he re..

AEW Facing Class Action Lawsuit Over Americans With Disabilities Act

They might have a case. One of the most important things a wrestling company can do is connect with its fans. There needs to be a way for a promotion to be able to give its fans information about all kinds of things the company is doing and one of the best is a website. Without a good one, things can get a little troublesome and that seems to be the case again in a pretty serious way. According to Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston, AEW is facing a class action lawsuit over its website violating the Americans With Disabilities Act. The site does not include coding that allows the use of screen readers to used by the visually impaired. The coding allows a program to describe items being displayed. WWE faced a similar lawsuit in 2020 and settled with the plaintiffs shortly thereafter. A plaintiff has filed a class action complaint against All Elite Wrestling, LLC for allegedly violating the Americans With Disabilities Act, claiming https://t.co/HckO1NRSoH isn't accessible to visually..

KB’s Review: Less Is More

We are still in the big news period of the WWE year as WrestleMania season is finally wrapping up. That means WWE is going to be doing a lot of things as we enter what should be the start of the company’s new season. WWE is actually trying to do a few things differently and one of the last announcements has me rather interested, as it is something that took is LONG overdue. Back around 2009 (the year isn’t important), WWE held its annual No Way Out/Elimination Chamber event. As usual, the show featured a pair of Elimination Chamber events, with one serving as the show’s main event. During the second of the two matches, Michael Cole said something to the effect of “when have you ever seen this kind of carnage?” Watching at home, I said out loud “about an hour and a half ago.” One of the most common complaints about WWE is that there is too much. Too much of what? Everything pretty much. There are too many shows, too much content, too much talking, too much bad and too much….everything..

More Backstage Frustration Over WWE Royal Rumble Match

Not everyone is happy. The Royal Rumble has come and gone, meaning that we are on the Road To WrestleMania. That means things are about to get all the more interesting in the coming weeks, but there was also some work put in to get things ready for the Royal Rumble as well. Now some wrestlers are not happy with what happened at the show following the buildup. According to Fightful Select, there has been some frustration backstage over the men’s Royal Rumble as some of the wrestlers who were involved in the build did not recent any focus in the match itself. This includes the Mysterios, Dolph Ziggler/Robert Roode and the Street Profits, who had been in a three way feud to help hype the Royal Rumble. The six if them did not have any significant interaction during the match, with only the Mysterios eliminating anyone (with one elimination each). Opinion: This is the latest complaint that has come up about the match, which did not seem to have gone very well, either for the fans or a lot..

PHOTO: AEW Star Reveals Horrible Looking Injury Before Dynamite Match

That might explain a few things. Wrestlers are some of the tougher athletes that you will find in the world today. They are out there almost every single night and trying to entertain the fans, which is a lot harder than it seems. The wrestlers have to work through all kinds of injuries, some of which are a lot more serious than others. This time though, there was an issue before the match that you didn’t see. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured a match between Lance Archer and Frankie Kazarian. Archer won the match in about ten minutes with Kazarian getting in rather little offense. Kazarian has sent out a tweet from before the match, showing a case of bursitis on his elbow, which had to be drained with a syringe. Despite the injury, Kazarian said he was making no complaints about the match and praised Archer for the win. There is nothing to suggest that Kazarian will miss any ring time. Two Hours before my match with @LanceHoyt I had a bad case of bursitis and had to have ..

AEW Stars Mock WWE For Complaints About Violent Content

And now, the response. WWE and AEW have been rivals since the latter came into existence three years ago. AEW certainly has caught fire since then, with the company going from barely existing to the second biggest promotion in the world today. Both companies present themselves in different ways, and it seems WWE does not care for AEW’s style. Now it is time for AEW to fight back. Earlier this week, the Toronto Star published an article comparing the two companies. WWE sent in a statement for the article, criticizing AEW’s violent content while promoting its own family friendly content. The statement included a reference to a No DQ match between Tay Conti/Anna Jay vs. the Bunny/Penelope Ford, in which all four bled. Conti, Jay and the Bunny have all sent out photos on Twitter, showcasing the results of the violence in the match. Several Top WWE Names Not Present At Monday Night Raw

Maybe it was for the better. There have been a good number of complaints about WWE TV in recent months and years. A good many of them are focused in the same areas and have to do with the way the show is presented. It doesn’t help when it is a similar style every week, but this time around we got a bit of a change of pace. There is a pretty big reason for the change. According to PWInsider.com, Vince McMahon, Bruce Prichard, Kevin Dunn, Michael Hayes and Adam Pearce were all missing backstage from this week’s Monday Night Raw. There is no word on why they were not at the show and nothing to suggest that they have tested positive for the Coronavirus. With the group being gone, the show was run by John Laurinaitis and Ed Koskey. There is no word on when everyone will be back. That is a lot of people missing. Check out what they can do when they are around: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] ..

The Rock To Be Celebrated At Survivor Series With Special Match

Keep the build going. We are less than two days away from Survivor Series and that is a tricky card to build. There are so many people already put into the show’s namesake matches that it does not leave much for everyone else to do. At the same time though, the theme of Battle for Brand Supremacy means that one sides has to win more matches. Now that can be assured with something new being added to the card. This week on SmackDown, Sonya Deville announced a twenty five man battle royal for Survivor Series. The match will be held as a tribute to the Rock, who debuted at Survivor Series 1996, twenty five years ago. So far, the only name confirmed for the match is Sami Zayn, whose complaints about his documentary led to the match being made. Deville’s idea is that Zayn can win and therefore be associated with the Rock as a result. There have been some battle royals on the show before. Check out the announcement and what this one has to live up to: [This post contains video, click to pl..

Big E.’s Actions Caused WWE To Receive Some Complaints

I guess it’s not for everyone. The WWE Champion is automatically one of the biggest names in wrestling, just due the prestige of the championship that they are holding. It is the kind of thing that can make someone’s career, even if they have already done quite a few positive things before. It turns out that the current WWE Champion got the company in some trouble due to one of his signature actions. During a recent appearance on the Jim and Sam Show, WWE Champion Big E. revealed that WWE received some complaints about him before he won the title. When Big E. teaming with the rest of the New Day, he would thrust his hips against the floor during matches, which ultimately led to WWE receiving some complaints. Other complaints came from his hip gyrations while dancing in the ring during and after matches. Big E. was not clear on where the complaints came from and it is not clear if he was punished in any way. Big E. can celebrate. Check out some of his bigger wins: [This post contains..

Here’s Who Makes The Top Most Money In WWE (And How Much)

That’s a nice paycheck. There are a lot of things to criticize about WWE and several of those complaints are rather valid. The company has a lot of issues involving its creative direction and the way it treats its wrestlers, but there is one thing that WWE can do rather well: make a lot of money. WWE is a revenue machine, but where does that money go? We now know the answer in a few cases. During the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned that WWE pays its roster about 8% of its revenue, while most sports leagues pay 50%. If WWE followed the normal model, the main roster wrestlers would be making around $5 million each. However, that is only the case with Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, while there are “a couple” of people who make around $3 million, though they were not named. There is some highly paid talent in WWE. Check out the biggest ones, together and apart: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [Thi..

WWE Announces Third Quarter Revenue, Up Big Over Last Year

They’re good at this. There are a lot of complaints to be made against WWE and a lot of them seem to be quite valid. The company has done quite a few things that make fans shake their heads, but there is one thing that WWE does rather well: make money. WWE has figured out how to make a fortune in wrestling and now we have an idea of what they have been doing as of late. WWE released their third quarter earnings report on Thursday. The company announced that their revenue was up almost across the board compared to the third quarter of 2020, when the company did not run any live events with fans in attendance. This included revenue of $255.8 million, up 15% over last year. At the same time, operating income was $64 million, up only 1% ($600,000) by comparison. WWE began touring with fans again in July of this year. It seems to be a good day for WWE financially. Check out some of their money moments: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] ..

Drew McIntyre Does Not Seem Happy With WWE Booking

He might be on to something. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world, but it is not without its share of problems. There are a lot of issues to be dealt with, and one of the most common complaints you will hear about is the booking. Some fans have not seemed thrilled with the booking for a long time now and it seems that a top WWE star may be agreeing with them. WWE has announced that this week’s Monday Night Raw will feature a rematch of Big E. and Drew McIntyre teaming up to face Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. The teams met two weeks ago on Monday Night Raw with McIntyre and Big E. winning. McIntyre has responded to WWE’s announcement, saying that he is a sucker for first time matchups. McIntyre is scheduled to challenge Big E. for the WWE Title at Crown Jewel later this week. Well I am a sucker for first-time matches https://t.co/Qbk11M62NW — Drew McIntyre (@DMcIntyreWWE) October 16, 2021 They do have a history. Check out their previous match and s..

VIDEO: AEW Star’s Wife Unhappy With How He Is Being Used

I guess she isn’t pleased. There are a lot of people on the AEW roster, which makes things a little more complicated. While there is a lot of talent around in the company, there is only three hours of television time a week. That does not leave room for a lot of people to be included, which is made even more complicated when AEW is bringing in even bigger stars. Some people are not going to be used and now we are hearing some complaints. Melissa Santos, the former ring announcer for Lucha Underground and the wife of AEW’s Brian Cage, has taken to Twitter to complain about Cage’s current status in AEW. Santos mentions that Cage is a superstar and has not gotten the chance to show that so far. Cage responded and seemed to agree, though he did not say anything specifically negative about AEW. This comes as Cage has been feuding with Ricky Starks and Team Taz in recent weeks. I'm just going to leave this right here. @AEW @AEWonTNT #briancage pic.twitter.com/3Xjk8NDWSP — Melissa San..

WATCH: Edge Teases Huge Summerslam Match

It would be a big one. We are on the way to Summerslam, which is taking place in just over a month. The show is going to be one of if not the biggest WWE shows of the year and that means the card is going to need to be stacked. WWE knows how to put together some of the biggest matches around and they might have another dream match ready for this year’s Summerslam. Edge appeared on this week’s edition of the Bump and impersonated Seth Rollins, including speaking and dressing like him. This continues the story between the two of them, as Rollins has complained about Edge receiving a Universal Title shot at Money In The Bank. Edge has promised to win the title and talked down to Rollins about his complaints, though no match has been announced as of yet. This was pretty good. Check out Edge’s appearance and what we might be seeing: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I don’t think the..

MVP Rips Fans For Criticizing WWE Television

I guess he is a fan. Wrestling fans can be rather critical of the product at times and WWE is certainly no exception. The company ‘s fans regularly express their issues with what is going on in WWE and can get rather upset by what they are presented with on a regular basis. These complaints are seen by people who work in WWE and now one of them is speaking back. Monday Night Raw star MVP sent out a tweet earlier this week, criticizing fans for making assumptions based on their fantasy booking and criticizing wrestling shows based on their fantasy booking. It is not clear which incidents or tweets caused him to make these statements. MVP later responded to a fan saying that WWE presented “same garbage every week”, with MVP saying that the fan said the same garbage every week. 2 things today's wrestling fans LOVE: Assumptions about what or who is coming next based on their fantasy booking. Criticizing whatever wrestling show they're watching based on their fantasy booking. —..

Problems Continue Between Retribution After Monday Night Raw

Things aren’t looking great. Stables are an interesting way to go in wrestling as there are great at giving a lot of people screen time at once. Sometimes you are going to have wrestlers who cannot get somewhere on their own so putting them together makes sense. That was the case in theory with a recent Monday Night Raw stable, but things are already falling apart. Debuting back in August, Retribution has had quite the rocky history. The team never felt like it had the most logical or clear direction and the members did not exactly receive the strongest pushes. Adding Mustafa Ali as the leader helped somewhat, but did not solve all of the problems. Those problems still abound to this day and now we might be seeing them overwhelm the team. This week on Monday Night Raw, Ali vented his frustrations with the team after another loss. The following day, other members of the team complained as well, with some of the complaints directed at Ali himself. Reckoning asked how much longer they w..

WWE Shifted Away From TV-PG This Week

It would certainly be different. There are a lot of criticisms about modern WWE and one of the biggest is that it is too PG. Several fans are not pleased with what is considered a more family friendly version of the company, which has been in place for a very long time now. While you will see flashes of different kinds of programming, it is rare to see WWE offering more mature, adult style stories. That might be changing, at least for the short term. Some of these complaints make a lot of sense, but at the same time the PG model makes sense for families. If younger people are watching the show, they might not be able to get to a show on their own. That means coming with their parents, which means two (or even three) tickets sold, plus more concessions and possibly merchandise. Throw in better advertising opportunities and it is a fairly easy concept to follow. However, that philosophy was not the case this week. According to Wrestlingnews.co, this week’s SmackDown was rated TV-14 ins..
