Get Your Bids In: AEW Star’s Contract Reportedly Up Soon, WWE Interested

The battle continues. AEW coming into the wrestling world has changed the industry as there is now a new place for various stars to go. This also means that there are going to be stars who are going to be pursued by both companies. It can lead to some wrestlers moving around in one way or another, and now an AEW star seems to be at least interested in jumping ship. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Wardlow Reveals The TNT Title Has Been Stolen (Along With The Rest Of His Stuff) According to Fightful Select, Brian Cage’s deal with AEW is expiring soon but the two sides have agreed to work with each other through the end of March. This will include Ring Of Honor’s Supercard of Honor, as Cage is one third of the Ring Of Honor Six Man Tag Team Champions. There is still a chance of the two sides coming to terms on an extension, with names such as Chris Jericho hoping to keep Cage in the company. WWE is said to be interested in signing Cage as well, though there is no word on where Cage is lea..

AEW Dynamite Results – January 25, 2023

Dynamite Date: January 25, 2023 Location: Rupp Arena, Lexington, Kentucky Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz This is going to be an emotional one as the main event will feature the Jay Briscoe Tribute match between Mark Briscoe and Jay Lethal. If that’s not enough, we’re still on the way to Revolution and that means Bryan Danielson gets to wrestle again. This time he has to find a way around Brian Cage, which is quite the different opponent than he has had in recent weeks. Other than that, the Gunns and the Acclaimed are going to have family therapy, which could go in a few different ways. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Chris Jericho/Sammy Guevara vs. Action Andretti/Ricky Starks We are joined in the middle of Jericho’s entrance (including Daniel Garcia). Andretti and Guevara start things off and exchange some flips without being able to make a ton of contact. Andretti’s standing moonsault misses and they stare at each other for a bit. Guevara offers a handshake and th..

He’s In For Now: Former WWE Star Set For AEW Debut

New home? The rise of AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works, including the wrestlers. One of the biggest changes has been the rise of a new big budget wrestling promotion where wrestlers can go, meaning more wrestlers are at work. If nothing else, it allows people who leave WWE to have another place to find work, and that is the case again as a former WWE star will be making his AEW debut. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Back Later: AEW Announces Injury, Match Set For Dynamite Changed Bryan Danielson is currently trying to earn a shot at AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman at Revolution. In order to earn a shot, Danielson must win a series of matches, ending on February 8. This week, Danielson defeated Brian Cage, but Cage injured Danielson’s shoulder after the match. Later in the night, Friedman announced that Danielson’s next opponent will be former WWE star Timothy Thatcher, who will be making his AEW debut. Since his release from WWE in January 2022, Thatcher has primari..

Almost Over: AEW Star’s Contract Reportedly Expires Very Soon

Tick tock? There is all kinds of talent on the AEW roster with quite the variety of wrestlers and stars. The company has found a great mix that allows them to present a bunch of different matches with quite the series of combinations. At some point, some of the wrestlers are going to have to leave though and that might be taking place again with one of its stars. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: And The Award Goes To: AEW President Tony Khan Names His MVP Of 2022 According to Fightful Select, Brian Cage’s AEW contract will be expiring in “a matter of weeks”, though there is still a chance that the two sides will be able to come together on a new deal. Cage’s original AEW contract was set to expire in 2022 but the company picked up his option, which reportedly surprised Cage, who had not been used much at the time of the pick up. WWE has also reportedly put on some “feelers” to see if there is any interest in bringing Cage in. Cage is set to face Bryan Danielson this week on Dynamite. Cage has..

AEW Dynamite Results – December 7, 2022

Dynamite Date: December 7, 2022 Location: H-E-B Center, Cedar Park, Texas Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Taz, Excalibur It’s the go home show for Final Battle and the Dynamite before next week’s Winter Is Coming so it is time to start hammering home the build for both shows. Believe it or not we have a battle royal this week for a shot at MJF’s….ring, rather than the World Title. That should get a lot of people on the show so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Battle Royal Ricky Starks, Brian Cage, Jungle Boy, Orange Cassidy, Shawn Dean, Dustin Rhodes, Lee Moriarty, Ethan Page, Matt Hardy, Kip Sabian, Dalton Castle, Butcher, Blade The winner gets to face MJF for the Dynamite Diamond whenever they decide. Sabian and Cassidy take turns ramming each other into the corner until the Butcher breaks it up. Cassidy is sent over the top so he tries to skin the cat, only to have Blade knock him out. Rhodes (hometown boy) hits a Canadian Destroyer on Sabian and clotheslines him out. Butcher c..

Pencil It Out: AEW Pulls Match From Full Gear, Reschedules It For Dynamite

Switch it up. AEW has been around for a little over three and a half years now and during that time they have established a schedule that they tend to follow for their major events. The company presents four regular pay per views, with the next installment coming this weekend. However, they have now made a last minute change, which will affect both this event and the next TV show. During a media call to promote Full Gear, AEW President Tony Khan announced that the finals of the Full Gear #1 contenders tournament have been moved from Full Gear to Dynamite. This comes after the first round match between Ricky Starks and Lance Archer was postponed due to Starks being not medically cleared to compete. The first round match will now take place on Rampage, with the winner facing Brian Cage on the Full Gear Zero Hour show. The winner of that will face Ethan Page on Dynamite. They have potential. Check out what we’ll be seeing on Rampage: [This post contains video, click to play] [This po..

You Don’t See That Often: Entire Stable Changes Hands At Death Before Dishonor

Hand it over? Stables have been a feature of wrestling for a very long time now and there is nothing to suggest that will change in the near future. They are still an effective idea as they allow multiple wrestlers to be able to get on television in a single segment. There are still times where things need to be changed though, and that seems to be the case again in an odd way. This weekend’s Ring Of Honor Death Before Dishonor card was scheduled to feature a six man tag match involving Tully Blanchard Enterprises. However, before the match, Ring Of Honor mainstay Prince Nana announced that he had purchased the stable from Blanchard. Nana would appear in the corner of Kan/Toa Liona/Brian Cage for their six man tag, as well as Jonathan Gresham as he lost the Ring Of Honor World Title to Claudio Castagnoli. There is no word on why the change was made or if Blanchard will have something else to do in AEW/Ring Of Honor. Opinion: I’m curious about what happened with Blanchard, but this do..

REVIEW Bound For Glory 2019: Their Big One

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Bound For Glory 2019 Date: October 20, 2019 Location: Odeum Expo Center, Villa Park, Illinois Commentators: Don Callis, Josh Matthews It’s the biggest night of the year and that could mean a lot of things this time around. The main event will see World Champion Brian Cage defending the title against Sami Callihan in a match that was made personal when Callihan attacked Cage’s wife Melissa Santos. In addition, we have Ken Shamrock returning to the ring to face Moose because….star power I guess? Let get to it. A ve..

AEW Exercises A Contract Option, Leaving A Wrestler Surprised

He’s sticking around. We are almost ready to enter the fourth year of AEW’s existence with just a few months to go before the anniversary of their debut show. However, the company originally began at the start of 2019, meaning that a lot of the company’s initial contracts are starting to come up for expiration. That means some wrestlers are going to leave, but a surprising name will be sticking around. According to Fightful Select, AEW has exercised its option on Brian Cage’s contract, meaning it is extended by another year. Cage himself was said to be surprised by the result, as he expected his contract to expire, making him a free agent. He has not wrestled on AEW television since October 8, when he was defeated by Ricky Starks. There is no word on if the extension means that Cage will be making a return to AEW television. Opinion: That is quite the surprise as Cage hasn’t been on television in months now. I’m not sure why AEW decided to keep him, but maybe they don’t want another ..

Another Name Gone From AEW, Several More May Be Departing

Someone had to go. As hard as it may be to believe, AEW has only been around for a little over three years. The company has hit the ground running like no other and rapidly become the second biggest wrestling promotion in the world. A lot of their success can be attributed to its roster, which continues to add talented stars. The roster can only get so big though and now some people might be on their way out. Several wrestlers are reportedly set to depart AEW due to their contracts expiring. According to PWInsider.com, Peter Avalon’s contract with the company has expired. This comes a few days after Avalon said he would be open for all independent dates. Avalon has been with AEW since its inception, wrestling as both the Librarian and Pretty Peter Avalon, mainly appearing on AEW Dark. In addition, Marko Stunt, Brian Cage and Joey Janela’s deals with the company are said to expire in the coming months. Only Janela has wrestled for the company this year, with Stung and Cage not wrestli..

AEW Rampage Results – October 9, 2021

Rampage Date: October 8, 2021 Location: Licouras Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Chris Jericho We’re still in front of one of the hottest crowds of the year and that should do a lot of good for the card. This is another stacked show as we have CM Punk vs. Daniel Garcia, the Tag Team Titles on the line and the Brian Cage challenging Ricky Starks for the FTW Title in a street fight. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. We start with Mark Henry’s split screen interview. Daniel Garcia and 2.0 say that CM Punk walked away from wrestling when the focus wasn’t all on him anymore but now he’s back to get the attention. Punk isn’t worried about that and is here to face Garcia because of his skill. Oh and 2.0 are like the Nasty Boys’ little brothers. CM Punk vs. Daniel Garcia 2.0 is here with Garcia. Punk wins a test of strength to put Garcia down, setting up a crossarm choke. Back up and Punk sends him into the corner so Garcia slows things down a bit. A heel ..

AEW Star Dealing With Knee Issue, Misses Match

That would be a reason. There is one thing that every wrestler has in common: they can all be injured. No matter how well trained or experience they may be, there is always the chance that something could take them out of action. It might be something built up over time or something that happens all at once, but it can happen to anyone. That seems to be the case again. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW’s Brian Cage is dealing with a knee problem, which forced him to pull out of last week’s Battleground Wrestling event. Cage’s issue is the result of a bad reaction to a stem cell treatment. There is no word on when Cage will return to AEW TV. His most recent match took place on the September 1 edition of AEW Dynamite. Cage is quite good. Check out some of his best moments in AEW: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This does explain a bit as Cage has all but disap..

VIDEO: AEW Star’s Wife Unhappy With How He Is Being Used

I guess she isn’t pleased. There are a lot of people on the AEW roster, which makes things a little more complicated. While there is a lot of talent around in the company, there is only three hours of television time a week. That does not leave room for a lot of people to be included, which is made even more complicated when AEW is bringing in even bigger stars. Some people are not going to be used and now we are hearing some complaints. Melissa Santos, the former ring announcer for Lucha Underground and the wife of AEW’s Brian Cage, has taken to Twitter to complain about Cage’s current status in AEW. Santos mentions that Cage is a superstar and has not gotten the chance to show that so far. Cage responded and seemed to agree, though he did not say anything specifically negative about AEW. This comes as Cage has been feuding with Ricky Starks and Team Taz in recent weeks. I'm just going to leave this right here. @AEW @AEWonTNT #briancage pic.twitter.com/3Xjk8NDWSP — Melissa San..

VIDEO: Former WWE Star Releases New Teaser Video

It’s a nice tease. Soon after Dean Ambrose was released from WWE, a video appeared on his social media accounts showing him escaping from prison. Fans began analyzing the video to look for clues and found a few things, but what mattered the most was the fact that people were talking. Ambrose then debuted for AEW as Jon Moxley and he was off to the races. Now someone is trying the same thing. Former WWE star Buddy Murphy has released a video to his social media accounts, featuring him standing in a prison cell, banging himself against a wall. Murphy was released from WWE in June of this year, meaning that his no compete clause is expected to expire on August 31. There is no word on where he will be signing next, but he has already booked for an independent match against AEW’s Brian Cage on September 18. This could be interesting. Check out his new video plus some of what he could do in WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This p..

Title Change Takes Place During AEW Dynamite

History has been made. There are all kinds of titles in wrestling and it makes sense to have so many. Titles are something that any fan or non-fan can understand because they are a really easy concept to grasp. In addition to regular titles, there are also some unofficial ones, many of which have a history of their own. Another of those had its history advanced this week. Ricky Starks defeated Brian Cage to become the new FTW Champion during this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. Starks defeated Cage when the rest of Team Taz turned on Cage, including Powerhouse Hobbs hitting him in the head with the title belt, allowing Starks to hit a spear for the pin. The win ends Cage’s reign at 377 days, after Taz awarded him the title on July 8, 2020. The FTW (F*** The World) was introduced by Taz in the original ECW in 1998 as an alternate World Title. The title went on to be defended in EC, with Sabu even winning it at one point. Taz would ultimately unify the ECW World and FTW Titles in 1999 ..

AEW Dynamite Results – November 11, 2020

Dynamite Date: November 11, 2020 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross It’s the show after Full Gear and that means we have a long time to go before Revolution at the end of February. There is a lot of ground to cover on the way to that show and that means they have the time to set up more than a few things. I’m not sure what that is going to include and that is a nice feeling to have. Let’s get to it. Happy Veterans Day. Opening sequence. Here’s Team Taz for a chat before Brian Cage’s match. Taz talks about how Cage is going to wrestle but before that he can see Darby Allin sitting up in the rafters. The last time they saw him, he was splattered on the roof of his own car at Full Gear. If Allin comes near the ring, he is getting taken out again. While he is sitting up there, send a message to his friend Cody, who can get taken out too. Cage is about to wrestle someone who is respected around the world in Matt Sydal. See, S..

NWA World Champion Nick Aldis Celebrates Huge Career Milestone

NWA World Heavyweight champion Nick Aldis is one of the most respected talents working in the pro wrestling industry today. The National Treasure has faced a variety of challengers during his second title reign, which began when he defeated Cody at the NWA 70th Anniversary Show. Now Aldis is celebrating an anniversary of his own, as that second title win took place on October 21, 2018. The champ is now 700 days into his run and shows no signs of slowing down. Nick Aldis is highly regarded as a top world champion because of his work in the ring, as well as his character work on the mic. He’s a throwback heel champion, much in the same vein as Ric Flair and Harley Race, both of whom were former NWA World Champions. Aldis has defended the title all over the world against a variety of opponents, including Tommy Dreamer, Christopher Daniels, Brian Cage, Flip Gordon and Jake Hager. 700 days. pic.twitter.com/T558f5Oaws — Nick Aldis (@RealNickAldis) September 19, 2020 His match against C..

AEW Dark Results – September 8, 2020

If you would like to see this show in full, you can watch it right here for free: Dark Date: September 8, 2020 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Excalibur, Taz For reasons I don’t quite fathom, this is the third episode of Dark in eight days because we needed a special one before All Out and then the regular shows as well. At least tonight’s show along with Friday’s were a little shorter than usual, but we’ve got squashification waiting for us so let’s get to it. Taz and Excalibur give us the rapid fire intro. Sean Legacy vs. Will Hobbs Hobbs starts fast with a running shoulder before lifting Legacy up by the wrist for some arm cranking. Legacy’s crossbody is knocked out of the air with ease and a release gordbuster knocks him silly again. An Oklahoma Stampede finishes Legacy at 2:59. Result: Will Hobbs b. Sean Legacy – Oklahoma Stampede (2:59) Tony Donati vs. Brian Cage Non-title. Cage hits a release German suplex in the first five seconds and then do..

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – June 10, 2020

Dynamite Date: June 10, 2020 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, Chris Jericho We’re still in Jacksonville and this time around we’re going to be seeing the TNT Title on the line again, as Cody defends against Marq Quen. Other than that the countdown is on until Fyter Fest with the big showdown between Jon Moxley and Brian cage for the World Title. That has gone well so far so hopefully it does again. Let’s get to it. Chris Jericho joins commentary. FTR vs. Butcher and the Blade It’s FTR’s (the Revival) debut and Dax Harwood (Scott Dawson) takes Blade into the corner to start. A headlock on the mat has Blade in trouble and Harwood small packages him for two. The headlock takeover puts Blade down again and it’s off to Cash Wheeler (Dash Wilder) to work on the arm. Hardwood’s northern lights suplex gets two and it’s a four way standoff. The fans get behind FTR and we settle down to Wheeler vs. Butcher. Wheeler bangs his sh..

AEW Dark Results – May 26, 2020

If you would like to watch this show for free, you can see it in full right here: Dark Date: May 26, 2020 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Excalibur, Taz It’s the first show after the very good Double Or Nothing and you know what that calls for: nearly an hour and a half of overly competitive jobber matches! I’m not sure if this is the new permanent norm or if they’re just burning off a bunch of material they taped on the off chance that they wouldn’t be able to tape for a good while. Either way, it’s hardly must see material. Let’s get to it. Tazz makes it clear that he will not be getting into any details about his relationship with Brian Cage. Dark Order vs. Natural Nightmares Jon Silver/Alex Reynolds here. The Nightmares snap off an early double Russian legsweep on Reynolds to start and Dustin adds the running knee lift. Cue Allie of all people, with Marshal’’s apple. Marshall certainly seems interested and Silver uses the distraction to get in a ch..
