AEW Dynamite Results – February 15, 2023

Dynamite Date: February 15, 2023 Location: Sames Auto Arena, Laredo, Texas Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz We are less than a month away from Revolution and as of last week, we officially have a main event. Bryan Danielson earned his title shot against MJF, which will come in the form of a sixty minute iron man match. With that out of the way, the rest of the card needs to be built up so let’s get to it. In Memory of Jerry Jarrett. Jeff Jarrett/Jay Lethal/Sonjay Dutt/Satnam Singh vs. Orange Cassidy/Billy Gunn/Acclaimed Bowens runs Lethal over to start and it’s off to Caster for two off a powerslam. Jarrett comes in and drops Caster before handing it off to Singh. Gunn, who almost a foot shorter than Singh, wants to come in but it’s Cassidy coming in instead. Actually it’s Dutt getting Cassidy instead……or actually make that Billy vs. Jeff. Cue the Gunns to mock the scissoring before telling various people to suck it. Lethal gets in a knee to the back to take Billy down ..

WATCH: Max Caster Messes Up Rap During AEW Rampage Taping (And It’s Funny)

It’s not easy. Wrestling is a very tricky art form to master and there are all kinds of different issues that can make things all the more complicated. In addition to the matches themselves, there is everything else that the wrestlers have to do in front of the live fans. Every now and then you are going to see something go wrong and now we have a clip that you will probably not see on television. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s Broken: AEW Sets New Record With This Week’s AEW Dynamite This week on AEW Dynamite, a segment involving the Acclaimed was announced for this week’s edition of Rampage. As Rampage was taped after Dynamite, a clip of the Acclaimed’s entrance has surfaced online, featuring Max Caster doing one of his customary raps. However, this time Caster messed up the first verse of his rap and had to start over. Caster and Billy Gunn acknowledged the error and then redid the entrance. There is nothing to suggest that this will air on television. This was good for a chuckle. C..

AEW Dynamite Results – November 9, 2022

Dynamite Date: November 9, 2022 Location: Aggaris Arena, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Tony Schiavone We are just over a week away from Full Gear and the card could use some help. So far the main matches are a four way for the Ring Of Honor World Title and MJF challenging Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title. Other than that we a few title matches and the finals of a tournament that hasn’t started yet. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Gunn Club/Swerve In Our Glory vs. FTR/Acclaimed Billy Gunn storms the ring before the bell but gets ejected for jumping Swerve. We settle down to Wheeler hammering on Swerve in the corner as the fans are rather pleased with the goings on. The good guys take turns on Swerve, including the scissoring from the Acclaimed, as everything breaks down, with the four villains getting punches rained down in the corner. We take a break and come back with Harwood suplexing his way out of trouble and avoiding a splash in the corner. The hot t..

How Close WWE And AEW Got To Working Together For DX Reunion Special

They had a request. The wrestling world has changed quite a bit since AEW became a new major promotion. For the first time in decades, WWE has major competition for television viewers and talent. That is not something they are used to but the two sides almost came together to do something special earlier this month. Now we know what might have been enough to make it work. Earlier this month, WWE presented the 25th anniversary of D-Generation X on the October 10 edition of Monday Night Raw. However, the segment did not include Billy Gunn, who is under contract to AEW. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the two companies did discuss Gunn being allowed to appear, with AEW President Tony Khan requesting WWE acknowledge that Gunn works for AEW. This caused WWE to stall and the deal fell through. WWE had such an appearance by then Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Mickie James at this year’s Royal Rumble. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that could have made for a very spe..

AEW Rampage Results – October 21, 2022

Rampage Date: October 21, 2022 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur We’re live this week and not taped after Dynamite for a change. We’re also back in the old stomping grounds of Jacksonville and the card happens to be stacked with three title matches in an hour. That should be enough to carry the show, though Rampage has a bad tendency to underwhelm. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Tag Team Titles: Acclaimed vs. Varsity Athletes The Acclaimed is defending and it’s titles vs. the SCISSOR ME trademark. The Athletes tease an early scissoring and get jumped from behind, only to send the champs outside. Back in and the Acclaimed break up some more scissoring and a powerslam plants Woods. Caster gets knocked outside, where Billy Gunn chases Tony Nese around. That’s enough for a Gunn ejection, much to Sterling’s delight. We take a break and come back with Bowens getting the tag to come in and clean house. Everything breaks do..

AEW Rampage Results – September 30, 2022

Rampage Date: September 30, 2022 Location: Liacouras Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Commentators: Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone Rampage is back to normal this week and that should make for a decent enough show. You never know what you’re going to get around here, though odds are you’ll get at least one important thing. Other than that though, there is a good chance you’ll be seeing some names who aren’t around on Dynamite very often. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Tag Team Titles: Acclaimed vs. Butcher and the Blade vs. Private Party Acclaimed, with Billy Gunn, is defending. Bowens and Kassidy start things off as Matt Hardy is watching in the back. They trade quick one counts as the fans sing in praise of the Acclaimed. A standoff gives us a handshake before Bowens drives Kassidy into the corner for the tag off to Castor. With Kassidy down, Castor stops for some scissoring with Gunn before Bowens comes in for a neckbreaker onto Castor’s knees. Quen comes in and gets a..

They’re Done: AEW Team Split, Team Seems To Be Turning To The Other Side

Breaking up is hard to do. There are a lot of wrestlers on the AEW roster and it can be difficult to keep track of what they are all doing. Sometimes it is easier to put them together in various groups and that is what a lot of the wrestlers have done over the years. That can make for some interesting moments, but now we had something else take place as one group is no longer a thing. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw the Gunn Club and the Acclaimed defeat Ruffin It and Fuego del Sol in an eight man tag. The match ended when Max Caster hit the Mic Drop on Bear Bronson but Austin Gunn stole the pin. Following the match, the winners brawled, drawing in Billy Gunn to break up the fight. Billy then turned on the Acclaimed and left them laying before walking away with his sons. Opinion: This is one of those things that needed to happen and it makes sense for the change to take place. At the end of the day, if AEW wants the Acclaimed to be cheered, it didn’t make sense to have them t..

Switch Over: AEW Team Expected To Be Turned Into Babyfaces

Switch them up. With so many wrestlers on the AEW roster, it can be easy for someone to get lost in the shuffle. At some point you need to change things up a bit and there are a variety of ways to do so. One of the easiest is to turn someone from either good to bad or bad to good and that seems to be the plan with two wrestlers. It just might take some time to get there. This week on AEW Dynamite, Anthony Bowens got out of his wheelchair and attempted to help the Gunn Club in a six man tag, only to accidentally cost them the match. After the match, Billy Gunn sided with the Acclaimed over the Gunn Club. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the plan for the story is to turn the Acclaimed into babyfaces, though there is no word on when the turn will take place. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that probably needs to be done, as the Acclaimed have all of the potential in the world once they are allowed to go in that direction. I’m not sure to see how the story goes but it is the rig..

AEW Forbidden Door Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

This is a special show as we will be getting a big crossover between AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling in a series of….I guess you would call them dream matches. The show has had a lot of things thrown onto the card in a short amount of time and the build has been ok for the most part. The good thing is that the action itself should be more than enough to make it work, so hopefully they can live up to the hype. Let’s get to it. Buy-In Show: Gunn Club/Max Caster vs. Yuya Uemura/Alex Coughlin/DKC/Kevin Knight We have the AEW mashup team against the Young Lions and that is a good way to go here. Throw in Billy Gunn to make things work and be the in-ring coach and it should work out well enough. I’ve seen the Lions before and they’re capable of having some good stuff, so the pieces are set up here. Give them a few minutes and let them warm the crowd up and everything should be ok. I’ll take the Young Lions to win here, as pinning one of the Gunns isn’t going to hurt them that much. If noth..

AEW Star Joining The Cast Of New Reality Series

Give him a shot. Wrestlers can get a weird reputation when it comes to acting. Some of them certainly have skills, but at the same time, a lot of them are only going to be able to get so far. That does not mean there are not opportunities for wrestlers in such a field, and now a fairly new wrestler is going to be getting the chance to show what he can do outside of the ring. E has announced that AEW’s Austin Gunn, the son of Billy Gunn, will be part of the cast of Relatively Famous: Ranch Rules, a new reality series. The show will see children of celebrities working on a ranch for thirty days in an attempt to get out of the shadow of their more famous parents. The first episode will debut on January 12 at 9pm EST. There is no word on how many episodes will air. Austin has done well enough in AEW so far. Check out some of his time there: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is..

AEW Rampage Results – November 19, 2021

Rampage Date: November 19, 2021 Location: Chartway Arena, Norfolk, Virginia Commentators: Excalibur, Chris Jericho, Taz, Ricky Starks We’re fresh off of Full Gear and the next big thing, probably for their upcoming Clash Of Champions style special, is Hangman Page defending the World Title against Bryan Danielson. That will be more than enough to carry the shows for a bit, but we should be in for some other stuff this week. What other stuff? Well probably some AEW stuff. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Billy Gunn vs. Darby Allin The Gunn Club and Sting are all here. Feeling out process to start with Gunn not seeming that worried here. A test of strength isn’t happening but Gunn hits a heck of a backdrop to send Allin bailing for a breather. Gunn follows him out and sends him back inside, albeit with a pause for a staredown with Sting. After a hug to Austin Gunn, Billy pulls Allin out from under the ropes for a crash to the floor. Another Sting distraction doesn’t do much for All..

More Than One? Surprising Note On Upcoming AEW Match

I wouldn’t have bet on it. One of the best things about AEW is their roster, which has a great mixture of different kinds of wrestlers. AEW has all kinds of wrestlers, including up and coming stars, modern stars and veterans, all of whom come together in a way like almost nothing else. Now the company is planning for a feud between a few different generations. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured a segment where Darby Allin said that he wanted a match. The Gunn Club appeared, with Billy Gunn challenging Allin to a match. Allin accepted, with the match being set for some time in the future. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this will not be a one off match, as the match will be the start of a feud between Allin and Billy’s sons Colton and Austin. This is going to be different. Check out Allin, Gunn, and the Gunn Club in action: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This..

WATCH: Turn And Return Take Place During AEW Dynamite

The more things change. There are all kinds of talented wrestlers on the AEW roster and you never know when one of them is going to be given their big chance. The roster is a great mixture of veterans, current stars and up and comers, all of whom are often given a shot by AEW. That seems to be the case again, as two big moments took place this week on television. A turn and a return took place during this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. First up, Billy Gunn, and possible the rest of the Gunn Club, turned heel by attacking Paul Wight. The Gunn Club had run to the ring to help Wight fight off the Factory, only to have Billy attack Wight with a chair. This included shots to the head and hip, while QT Marshall looked on, seemingly not knowing the attack was coming. Later in the show, Anna Jay made her return to the company following a five month layoff due to shoulder surgery. Following Tay Conti’s victory over Penelope Ford, the Bunny and Ford attacked Conti in the ring. Jay ran in for ..

VIDEO: AEW Star Cuts Promo Before Eye Surgery

Hopefully it works. Every wrestler has some kind of medical issues, even if they are minor problems. At the same time though, there are some wrestlers who have major issues that have to be dealt with in one way or another. Some of these are things that could end a career if not corrected, along with changing someone’s life in a bad way. One wrestler is dealing with just such a problem. AEW’s Anthony Ogogo has released a video on Twitter, announcing that he is undergoing eye surgery to fix a deviated septum. Ogogo blames the injury on Billy Gunn sending him into the barricade and promises to get even with Gunn no matter what. There is no word on how long Ogogo will be out of action with the injury. Ogogo’s most recent match, the fifth of his career, took place on the June 4 edition of AEW Dynamite. Ogogo is a former British Olympic boxer who was forced to retire due to his eye injuries. Ogogo is blind in his left eye and has had ten operations on his eyes over the years. As mentioned ..

Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Kurt Angle Controversy, Billy Gunn Criticism, Was Shawn Michaels A Draw? More!

<p>Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane.</p><p>Russo says he usually <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/gives/" title="gives">gives</a></strong> WrestleZone and WrestlingInc. a pass when he rips apart dirt sheet opinions, but this past week both of these sites published stories that they simply shouldn’t have. Nearly a decade ago Kurt <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/angle/" title="Angle">Angle</a></strong> was involved in a very troublesome relationship, and he has spent the years since getting over that time in his life.</p><p>This past week Angle’s ex went on a Twitter rampage, bringing up things that have been buried for years, and for some reason these wrestling sites thought it was a good idea to publish stories on this. Russo thinks this was an embarrassing thing to do, and he’d love to get an explanation as to why either of these sites chose to publish those stories. By publishing these stories they’ve given this women attention, and have jeopardized Angle’s position in WWE.</p><p></p><p>Lane plays a clip of Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez from this past week, when they were discussing who Alvarez would be able to have a good match with in NJPW. Meltzer says that Tanahashi would be a good choice because he can have a good match with anyone, except for Billy Gunn evidently.</p><p>Russo says that Billy Gunn is a legend in this business, and at 53 years of age he <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/looks/" title="looks">looks</a></strong> better than ever. Russo says he’d love for Meltzer to run into Gunn in the street someday, because he’d run away like a scared little girl. Russo adds that Alvarez is an independent wrestler because he’s not good enough to have great matches with anybody.</p>

Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Commenting on Paige/Del Rio Situation, Mahal’s Championship Run, Fatal 4-Way at SummerSlam? More!

<p>Russo opens today’s show by commentating on the recent drama in the relationship between <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/paige" title="Paige">Paige</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/alberto-del-rio" title="Alberto Del Rio">Alberto Del Rio</a></strong>. He says that he met Paige and her family before, and they’re all very nice people. He has also met Del Rio in the past and he was very nice as well. In other words, he likes both of these individuals and he really just wants both of them to be okay.</p><p>He says that he doesn’t put any weight into the headlines written by wrestling ‘journalists’, but the tweets that were sent out by Paige’s brother really caught his attention. Some people forget that Paige is still just a kid, and her family are obviously very concerned about her. He believes that there is love in that relationship and he thinks they’re both good people, so he hopes they can figure this out.</p><p></p><p>Lane mentions that there has been some criticism from dirt sheet writers, Bryan Alvarez in particular, over the fact that Billy Gunn worked the recent NJPW show from the United States. Russo says he’s glad that Gunn wrestled on that show, and he’s glad that he’ll continue to wrestle for the foreseeable future because he’s able to make money doing that. This is a business, and each time Gunn wrestles he gets paid, so what’s the problem here?</p><p>Russo says that Gunn is still a machine at his age. He adds that in a shoot fight, Gunn would give Brock Lesnar a tougher bout than <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/samoa-joe" title="Samoa Joe">Samoa Joe</a></strong> or most other performers on WWE’s roster.</p>

Reason Billy Gunn Can Still Use His Name Outside of WWE

<p>Many of you have noticed that Billy Gunn has been <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/using/" title="using">using</a></strong> his WWE name outside of the company and are wondering how he’s getting away with that.</p><p>The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that he is now allowed to use the name “Billy Gunn” because WWE did not continue the trademark. When they let it go, he trademarked it himself and he now owns the rights to the name worldwide.</p>
