They’re big. There are certain names in the history of wrestling that are going to be remembered fondly for a very long time to come. Those stars are the most important in wrestling and were able to build a legacy that is remembered for years. It means something to have those names around and now two of them made an appearance backstage at a recent WWE event. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He Has A Take: Possible Problem With WWE Using Tyson Fury Two WWE Hall Of Famers were backstage last week at SmackDown. First up, Batista was present, and took a photo with Titus O’Neil, which was posted to Twitter. Batista last wrestled at WrestleMania 35. Second, according to PWInsider.com, Ric Flair was backstage as well, likely to see his daughter Charlotte win the SmackDown Women’s Title. There is nothing to suggest that the two will be appearing on WWE TV in the near future. #SmackDown Was Awesome tonight and always Great to see all of my @WWE Family ?? pic.twitter.com/V7qtVc8H6x — Titus O'Nei..
He’s earned it. There is a constant stream of new stars coming into WWE but there is no way of knowing who might be the next breakout star. Back in 2002, WWE had perhaps the most successful rookie class in its history, as several future World Champions joined the promotion in the same year. There was one who did not get the same recognition, though now things might be changing. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: WWE Officially Announces Special Match For Royal Rumble WWE has released a video celebrating the twentieth anniversary of Shelton’s Benjamin’s debut with the company. The video includes several wrestlers talking about Benjamin’s career and how well he has done over his time with the company. Benjamin was part of the rookie class of 2002 along with John Cena, Batista, Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton and trained with them in Ohio Valley Wrestling, debuting on December 26, 2002. This is something special. Check out the video, plus some of Benjamin’s better matches: [This post contains..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Armageddon 2007 Date: December 16, 2007 Location: Mellon Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Attendance: 12,500 Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield, Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Joey Styles, Taz It’s the final pay per view of the year and it’s more or less a one match show. While there is a Raw main event of Chris Jericho challenging Randy Orton for the Raw World Title, the real main event here is Smackdown World Champion Batista defending the Smackdown World Title against Undertaker and Edge in a triple thr..
Join the club. We are in an interesting year when it comes to wrestling milestones. The year 2022 marks 20 years since the WWE debuts of people like John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, Batista and more. That alone is enough to make the year historic, but at the same time are some other milestones that go back even further in history. WWE might be looking to celebrate something else. According to PWInsider.com, the September 23 SmackDown will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah. This will be one day after twenty five years to the day of Goldberg’s WCW debut on September 22, 1997, also in Salt Lake City. It is currently not clear if WWE is planning to do something to commemorate the event. Goldberg has not wrestle for WWE since February of this year. Opinion: I can see this one going either way, as WWE certainly loves presenting Goldberg as a major star, but at the same time, it would come a bit out of nowhere. Unless WWE is wanting to do something to set up another Goldber..

Survivor Series 2007 Date: November 18, 2007 Location: American Airlines Arena, Miami, Florida Attendance: 12,500 Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield, Jerry Lawler, Jim Ross, Tazz, Joey Styles It is pretty rare when you have a true one match card but that is what we have here, as Batista is defending the Smackdown World Title against the Undertaker inside the Cell. There might be a few other things going on here, but that has been treated as the be all and end all of the show, as it should be. Let’s..
That’s one way to do it. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between John Cena and Batista for the WWE Championship in an “I Quit” Match from Over the Limit 2010. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: When WWE Champion John Cena and his opponent Batista faced off in an “I Quit” Match, it seemed entirely appropriate that the two Hemi-powered heavyweights found themselves dueling in the Motor City. Each man buried the speedometer as they rumbled toward each other until, finally, The Animal ran out of fuel and was forced to utter those infamous words, “I quit.” For months, Batista had complained about The Champ, stating that The Animal should be the real “face of WWE.” That animosity only intensified after Batista was embarrassed in a Last Man Standing Match when Cena prevailed by duct-taping his feet together around one of the ring posts. As for Cena, The Champ has appear..

Smackdown Date: May 18, 2007 Location: 1st Mariner Arena, Baltimore, Maryland Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s the go home show for Judgment Day and I’m not sure what that is going to entail. Everything was shaken up last week when Edge won the World Title from Undertaker, who seems to be going on the shelf. Edge is going to be defending against Batista on Sunday, meaning it’s time for the rapid fire build. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of last week’s cage match, Mark Henry’s return..
I’d say he deserves it. There are certain wrestlers who have managed to become all time stars in WWE. These are the names who have had some of the biggest impacts in the history of the company and whose legacies continue long after they hang up their boots. WWE has a history of honoring these legends and that is going to be the case again soon as it is anniversary time. In honor of the 20th anniversary of his WWE debut on May 9, 2002, WWE will begin Batista Week on Monday May 9. WWE will be celebrating the week with special looks back at Batista’s career on its social media channels, including Top 10s and playlists. There is no word on if Batista himself will make any kind of appearance during the week. This comes less than a month after WWE celebrated the 20th anniversary of Randy Orton’s debut. With the 20-year anniversary of @DaveBautista's WWE debut just around the corner, join WWE in honoring The Animal all week long! #BatistaWeek pic.twitter.com/uUpKJ16knh — WWE (@WWE) Ma..

When factions collide. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between The Shield and Evolution from WWE Extreme Rules 2014. You can see the video in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: Evolution worked over their opposition methodically. “Bootista” chants rained down as The Animal worked over his prey, and Ambrose looked downright punch-drunk after an exchange with Triple H, which ended with a fierce spinebuster by the 13-time World Champion. The Hounds of Justice would not be denied, though. The trio’s Lunatic Fringe turned the tides with a DDT on Triple H, and once Reigns found his way into the contest, he turned into a one-man wrecking crew, taking out Orton, Batista, and Triple H in succession. The Shield looked to have the match locked up when they struck Batista with a Triple Powerbomb, yet savvy veterans Orton and Triple H prevented the pinfall. Reigns subsequently ate a Pedigree and an R..

Smackdown Date: September 9, 2005 Location: Gwinnett Center, Duluth, Georgia Attendance: 4,000 Commentators: Michael Cole, Tazz It’s a big night as Smackdown moves over to Fridays, where it would stay for a very long time to come. This is a stacked card with Batista defending the World Title against JBL in a bullrope match, Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio in a cage match and Heidenreich/Animal defending the Tag Team Titles against MNM. It could work for him. Wrestlers have a weird reputation when it comes to action, because they are considered people who are always acting but only able to do one thing. That is not entirely true though and some wrestlers have had quite the success in the acting world. Now someone else is trying their hand in the same world, and it might be something that works out well for him. During an interview with Ariel Helwani, AEW’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman announced that he has filmed a voiceover for an animated movie that is set to be released at some point in 2023. Friedman said that he could not give any more details on the project. He went on to say that he wanted to see how he could do in acting, comparing himself to John Cena, the Rock and Batista. Opinion: This is something that could work, but at the same time Friedman is the latest name on a long list of wrestlers who have dabbled in acting. Some of them have done rather well, but those are the minority compared to those who have not ..

It’s a delayed honor. There are very few honors in the WWE world as important as an induction into the company’s Hall of Fame. While there have been a lot of different names inducted over the year, there are very few major names in the company’s history that are not inducted. The induction ceremony can be quite the moment, and now we might have an idea when an overdue entry will take place. Former WWE star Batista was announced as part of the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2020. However, the induction ceremony was postponed until 2021 due the Coronavirus pandemic. Batista was unable to attend the ceremony due to a scheduling conflict. WWE removed him from the class as per his request, leaving him to be inducted later. According to PWInsider.com, Batista will be in attendance in Dallas this year for Undertaker’s induction but is not expected to be inducted until 2023 in Los Angeles over WrestleMania 39 weekend. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes sense and I could see WWE’s logic..

It’s that time of year again. WWE has posted a new video to their YouTube channel in which they show the Top 10 Royal Rumble winners who challenged champions.
