Smackdown Live beats Monday Night RAW In Ratings

Is Smackdown live the new “A” show on WWE television. The stats agree. With three big titles on the line and the return of John Cena WWE Smackdown Live has managed to defeat Monday night RAW in ratings game this week or should we say the first time since the draft happened. Wrestling Observer has reported that “This week’s SmackDown averaged 2.88 million viewers, just barely beating the 2.85 that Monday’s episode of Raw averaged. SD Live came close to this last time in September when John Cena previously returned, the week where Raw was opposite the first presidential debate, and the loaded 900th episode in November coming close to beating the previous Monday’s episode.”

There is a positive for RAW in the coming weeks as the football season is over but if they continue to go over the same lame storylines and monotonous matches focussing their shows only on four guys; Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho, it won’t be inaccurate to say that Monday night RAW will suffer again in terms of ratings. WWE has been trying their best to throw in some big names like Goldberg to attract audience, which sometimes brings them positive ratings but as far as consistency is concerned SD Live has delivered great in and out action all throughout the time since the draft happened. The crowd’s reaction on both the show were totally different this week considering the fact that both RAW and Smackdown Live were conducted in the same arena, the crowd looked lively and thunderous during SD Live and mostly dead on RAW. Also with Smackdown being the show that promotes talents and every title looks legit and well build, the focus on RAW keeps shifting to Roman Reigns which can be considered as one of the many reasons for this shift in ratings. Many sources over the internet pre-claimed that SD will take over RAW in the last episode of 2016 as they had better bookings and storylines to build upon and considered 27 december as a special PPV and not just a weekly episode.

What do you have to say about Smackdown Live defeating RAW for the first time ever in the ratings game? Do let us know in the comments.

SmackDown Tag Team Champions Chad Gable and Jason Jordan retained over The Vaudevillains, The Ascension, The Usos and Fandango in a Tag Team Turmoil Match.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss retained over Becky Lynch. As good as their TV match, lots of counters and near falls.

James Ellsworth defeated Curt Hawkins with No Chin Music in under 30 seconds. Damn! A new “jobber”

Dolph Ziggler defeated WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz in a non-title steel cage match.

Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton and Luke Harper defeated Apollo Crews, Jack Swagger and Mojo Rawley.

Nikki Bella defeated Natalya. This was pretty physical for a women’s division match. Carmella tried to interfere at one point.

WWE Champion AJ Styles retained over Dean Ambrose and John Cena in a Triple Threat. All three had loud reactions but it seemed AJ was more over than Cena and John Cena had more boos. Cena and Styles had a tug-of-war for the title after the match, which ended with Cena hitting an Attitude Adjustment and posing in the corner to end the show.

Here are the results of WWE NXT Live event results from Osaka, Japan held on december 28, 2016.

Oney Lorcan def. Andrade “Cien” Almas via pinfall following an half-and-half superplex

Billie Kay & Peyton Royce def. Liv Morgan & Aliyah via pinfall (Royce bulldogged Morgan onto Kay’s knee, then covered her)

John Cena To Face AJ Styles At Elimination Chamber In A 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match

John Cena made his return on december 27, 2016 show of Smackdown live which was the last SDLive of this year and he made it clear that he was there to make his presence felt. Now it being official that John Cena will face AJ Styles at Royal Rumble 2017, it might come as a spoiler to many that this match might go in AJ Style’s favor as they face again at Elimination Chamber 2017 in a 2-out of-3 falls match. The event is taking place live from Phoenix, Arizona, on February 12. This rumor turned into a certainty with the graphic below.

This definitely doesn’t make it certain that John Cena will lose at Royal Rumble 2017 and also it doesn’t give us a clear picture about AJ Styles losing. John Cena winning and AJ Styles challenging him for a rematch at Elimination Chamber looks more legit than John Cena losing and then getting another title shot which might not go down the throat of wwe universe so well. Having said that, The Undertaker is also an “A” factor in this rivalry who is rumored to face AJ Styles/John Cena at Wrestlemania 33. If The Undertaker faces John Cena then it might not come as a surprise if it is not for the WWE Championship because John Cena vs The Undertaker is enough for a huge match and doesn’t require a title.

03a676f9e09e946472464b84fdfaf940aa75c94e_hqOn the other hand, AJ Styles might find a legit opponent in a new draft on SD Live, fitting the bill perfectly is Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe has made a huge impact in NXT and has almost nothing more left to prove there, so a WWE main roster debut at SD Live looks certain and having proven so much Joe might get a title shot at WWE Championship quick. This will definitely not raise any eyebrows as Joe is as lethal as it can be and his storylines and matches in NXT have been GLORIOUS.

Well nothing is for sure as many sources over the internet claim the Ticketmaster’s graphic to be a mistake but such mistakes do not happen often and these graphics are sent for promotional purposes to the arenas. We might have to wait and watch out for how WWE plans this up or is this just a tittle-tattle.

WWE Championship Match Added for Royal Rumble PPV, Updated Card

‘The Face that runs the Place’ John Cena versus WWE Champion ‘The Phenomenal’ AJ Styles is now officially booked for the January 29th Royal Rumble PPV from the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX.

Cena issued the challenge during his return promo in the ring at the top of the show on tonight’s SmackDown Live episode and AJ later accepted the challenge after retaining his title in a gruesome yet spectacular 3-way-battle over ‘The Lone Wolf’ Baron Corbin and ‘The Show off’ Dolph Ziggler.

A.J. Styles made his shocking debut by entering at #3 in the 30-man Traditional Royal Rumble Match in January of 2016. He is, as of this moment, the most popular WWE Superstar today, without a shadow of a doubt. Today he stands in one years time, as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion against the biggest WWE Superstar of the past decade, that says a lot about the charisma, drawing power and skills of The Phenomenal One.

Below is the updated WWE Royal Rumble PPV Match Card:-

Singles Match for the WWE Championship:
John Cena vs. AJ Styles (c)

Singles Match for the WWE Universal Championship:
WWE United States Champion Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens (c)
Chris Jericho will be suspended high above the ring in a freakin’ shark cage.

The 30-man Traditional Royal Rumble Match:
Bill Goldberg, Brock Lesnar and 28 other Superstars TBD

John Cena to face AJ Styles at Royal Rumble 2017 | WWE SDLive

WWE Smackdown Live (Dec. 27, 2016) from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois marked the return of super Cena. The show opened up right in the arena where John Cena is making his return. In the latter part of his promo Cena said that a lot of people have been planning his future, and 2016 wasn’t exactly a super year for him. He’s been called damaged goods, washed up, a part timer, and a lot of superstars say he’s already got one foot out the door, ready to go to Hollywood and never come back. But tonight, he’s setting the record straight. He’s not done, he’s not leaving, and he’s sick of this New Era BS.

It ain’t the New Era, it’s the “My Time Is Now” Era, and Never Give Up means when you get knocked down you fire up and kick some ass. And no matter who leaves tonight as WWE Champion, he’s wrestling them for the title at the Royal Rumble. You wanna say he can’t do that? Well he can, because he’s John Cena.

In the main event of SD Live AJ Styles won by pinfall with a lateral press on Dolph Ziggler, retaining the WWE Championship.

As AJ Styles was celebrating with the gold, John Cena entered the ring and strips to his ring gear and offers a hand. AJ points at the title by way of response and shakes John Cena’s hand.

Royal Rumble (2017) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event and WWE Network event produced by WWE for the Raw, SmackDown, and 205 Live brands. It will take place on January 29, 2017, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Will Kurt Angle Return At Royal Rumble 2017 ?

With the speculation of Kurt Angle returning to the WWE ring flaming up, it won’t be coming up as a surprise if we see the olympic gold medalist back in the WWE ring for his final run with the company. After retiring from TNA, Kurt Angle always has been willing to return to WWE and with the World Wrestling Entertainment looking to make Royal Rumble into one of the biggest of all times, it looks quite certain that they will try their level best to throw in some big names, to which Kurt Angle fits the bill perfectly. It has also been speculated that WWE is trying to contact other big names for an appearance at Royal Rumble 2017 even if it is for a one-off appearance. Angle recently said during a Facebook Q&A with fans that he wants to fight Brock Lesnar again. Moreover, he also said that he would not fight in the independent wrestling circuits from March next year. Kurt Angle has again and again hinted his return to the place from where he left in 2006 citing health reasons. In a recent interview he said “For me to go back it’d have to be the right match, the right program, and also you have to have interest from Triple H and Vince McMahon. I spoke with them a few months ago, they do have interest. They just don’t know what they want to do, and they don’t know when.”

Kurt Angle has also shown keen interest to face Daniel Bryan but with that being almost next to impossible, Seth Rollins hits the bull’s eye. Seth Rollins is currently been speculated to face Triple H at Wrestlemania 33. With that being said the next guy who looks legit is the anti-american Rusev. Rusev has never found any proper opponent who has pushed him up the list but facing the american hero kurt Angle will uplift his wrestling career. Guess we have to wait till Royal Rumble 2017 which takes place at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on 29 January.

‘Straight Fire’ Becky Lynch backstage at The Garden!

6 Man Tag Team Match:
Apollo Crews, Mojo Rawley & Jack Swagger def. Curt Hawkins and The Vaudevillians via pinfall after Crews hit Hawkins with a spinning power bomb for the 1-2-3.

After the match, Curt Hawkins called out the MSG crowd and said him getting pinned was a fluke and issued an Open Challenge to anyone in the locker room. James Ellsworth answered the challenge whilst wearing a neck brace. Ellsworth hit the ‘No Chin Music’ right off the bat as soon as the bell rang and pinned Hawkins for the victory.

Non-Title Steel Cage Match:

The Miz
(c) vs. Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental title in a steel cage was next. But, The Miz cut a promo prior to the bell and gave Ziggler “a participation award” and said his title wouldn’t be defended tonight because New York and MSG wasn’t worthy enough. Ziggler pinned Miz, nailing Miz with a ‘Super Kick’ after Maryse slammed the cage door on Miz’s face by mistake.

The ”IT Couple” posing for the crowd!

Nikki Bella
def. Natalya via pinfall with the ‘Rack Attack 2.0’. Carmella came down to interfere in the proceedings but ended up distracting Nattie ONLY. Nikki recieved a thunderous reaction from the crowd on her entrance. MSG surely loves Nikki!

Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship:
In the main event, ‘The Phenomenal’ AJ Styles (c) def. ‘The Face that Runs the Place’ John Cena and ‘The Lunatic Fringe’ Dean Ambrose to retain the Championship. AJ pinned Ambrose after hitting Cena with the Steel Chair, and then using the same chair to hit Ambrose low.

All three men got great reactions from the people in attendance. A lot of young kids were decked out in Cena gear too. There were the usual “Let’s go Cena, Cena Sucks” chants, which were very loud. Styles had the same going for awhile too: “Let’s go AJ, AJ Sucks!”

Post-match, Styles threatened to put Cena on the shelf. Ambrose came to Cena’s aid and nailed Styles with the ‘Dirty Deeds’. After Ambrose left the ring, Cena crawled over to Styles and they had a tug of war with the championship belt. Styles pulled it away and tried to leave, but Cena caught him and hit him with an Attitude Adjustment (AA) to close the show.

WWE News: Goldberg’s WWE RAW Return Announced

'The Icon' is coming to Tampa!
After being advertised by the Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL, WWE confirmed ‘The Icon’ Bill Goldberg will return to Monday Night RAW on next week’s show, which is the first show of 2017.

Goldberg would certainly have some choice words for his arch-rival ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar and his advocate Paul Heyman.

As per public knowledge, blockbuster draws Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg will compete in the Traditional 30-man Rumble Match at the Royal Rumble PPV on January 29, 2017 in San Antonio, TX.

As seen in the graphic below, WWE has confirmed Bill Goldberg for next week’s WWE RAW episode in Tampa, Florida:

WWE RAW Preview 12/26 – Is Braun Strowman Unstoppable? (Dec. 26, 2016)

This week’s edition of Monday Night Raw will air LIVE from the All State Arena in Chicago, Illinois. The raucous crowd will undoubtedly be chanting the name of the hometown superstar, WWE alumnus and current UFC Fighter, CM Punk irrespective of the fact if he makes an appearance or not.

Last Monday, RAW went off the air with ‘The Freight Train’ Braun Strowman wreaking havoc inside and outside the squared circle. He interfered in the main event by attacking the babyfaces ‘The Big Dog’ Roman Reigns and ‘The Man’ Seth Rollins. Initially, Braun was demanding for Sami Zayn but his quest to get his hands of Sami made him do what we saw and maybe it’s the beginning of pushing ‘The Freight Train’ up to face ‘The Big Dog’ for the United States Championship, in the distant future. So, will Braun Strowman get his hands on Sami Zayn this week, and he should be on the lookout in my opinion, as Roman & Seth might be waiting on the sidelines ready to pounce on him for what he did to them last week? What would be RAW GM’s position regarding the decision of feeding Sami to Braun?

And in the Universal Championship picture we have a twist in the tale of Reigns-Kevin Owens saga, The Shark Cage. As we heard last week that ‘Mr Wrestling’ Kevin Owens will defend his title against ‘The Big Dog’ Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble with Chris Jericho being suspended high above the ring in a freaking Shark Cage for goodness sake. We also learned the fact that ‘The Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla’ is terrified of heights. So, this week we expect Jeri-KO to come up with some sort of trick or mechanism to tame Jericho’s fear of heights or else Owens will have to part ways with the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble PPV.

In the women’s division, we have two storylines taking shape:-

Firstly, we have ‘The Huggable Monster’ Bayley demanding to get a title match against Charlotte Flair as she pinned Charlotte last week and Bayley is 3-0 against ‘The Queen’. However, the champion managed to get her shoulder up from the mat during the last count. So, what will be the Raw GM Mick Foley’s decision on this development?

Meanwhile, ‘The Boss’ Sasha Banks will be looking to fend off her newest rival in town, Nia Jax.

Also, posted a teaser indicating towards a tag team bout featuring ‘The Certified Gs’ Enzo and Big Cass on one side, facing ‘The Bulgarian Brute’ Rusev and Jinder Mahal. This is booked after what transpired last week in ‘Sensitivity Training’ segment on RAW.

We surely hope that it would be an eventful night, to say the least, in Chicago! The Last RAW of 2016 will surely leave a lasting impact on the minds of the fans across the globe alike!
