What’s Bobby Roode Doing In GFW?

Bobby Roode will appear in the first-ever episode of Global Force Wrestling’s (GFW) “Amped” anthology series next month. No, Roode did not leave WWE. The “Amped” series were filmed in 2015, prior to Roode signing with WWE. GFW, however, posted a preview video on Tuesday of their upcoming anthology series and it features the current WWE NXT Champion. In the 45-second clip for the August 11 episode on pay per view, Roode is shown entering the Las Vegas arena to a positive crowd response.

It’s unknown when the commentary was recorded — if it was done live in 2015 or recorded recently. It’s quite unique to note a statement from the commentary:

“When you take a look at the background, the history of Bobby Roode, what he’s done for this business, he’s welcomed in any promotion and how exciting is it that he’s here for the first-ever episode for GFW Amped.”

The fact they referenced Roode was “welcomed in any promotion” could be an indication that GFW is fine with viewers knowing he’s currently signed with WWE.

What Is GFW “Amped?”

As Top Rope Press reported earlier this month, GFW filmed a handful of episodes in 2015, but it never aired on television. Since GFW merged with Impact Wrestling, the unaired episodes will finally air under the One Night Only umbrella. Starting August 11, the first of four One Night Only: GFW Amped episodes will air on pay per view.

Roode won’t be the only familiar WWE figure in the GFW episodes. RAW’s Mickie James, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, and Curt Hawkins and SmackDown’s The Singh Brothers were part of the tapings in 2015.

GFW also uploaded the first five minutes of the first Amped episode on Monday.

Alexa Bliss Invades Loot Crate; Emma And Paige On Bliss’ New Jacket

Alexa Bliss Improves Loot Crate?

Since joining the main roster, Alexa Bliss has definitely been on the spotlight. The RAW Women’s Champion recently visited the Loot Care packing and shipping headquarters to provide some constructive feedback about their WWE Slam Crate items. Bliss was not impressed with items featuring the Four Horsewomen and Bray Wyatt, but she showed mild interest in items featuring Triple H and The New Day. Bliss decided to sign many of the Slame Crate boxes and presented improvements that were mostly Bliss-related merchandise.

Is That Paige’s Jacket?

During the last several weeks, Bliss has been wearing a leather jacket during WWE programming. Fans have noticed the jacket is similar to fellow WWE superstar Paige’s leather jacket. Following her defeat from Nia Jax last night, Emma acknowledged if Bliss’s jacket belongs to Paige.

Despite not appearing in WWE-related programming or events in quite some time, Paige did respond, via Twitter.

But the Raw Women’s Champion wasn’t going to stay quiet. She responded to Emma’s tweet.

Bliss’ rise on the WWE main roster has been remarkable. She’s been a two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion and is already the second-longest-reigning RAW Women’s Champion (only behind Charlotte Flair’s first reign of 114 days). Bliss is set to defend her championship against Bayley, one of the WWE Four Horsewoman, at SummerSlam on August 20th.

Rusev Ridicules Roman Reigns’ ‘Big’ Tweets; The Rock Praises Nia Jax

Rusev Mocks Roman Reigns’ ‘Big’ Tweets

WWE RAW superstar Roman Reigns sure has been active on Twitter during the last couple days, and other WWE superstars have noticed. First, as Top Rope Press reported yesterday, Reigns mocked the quiet Philadelphia crowd during WWE Battleground, which was run by the SmackDown Live roster on Sunday. During last night’s RAW, Reigns, again, acknowledged the unenthusiastic Philly crowd. Reigns mentioned how Philadelphia was much louder when he was in the city, notably when he won the Royal Rumble in the “City of Brotherly Love.”

“Free agent” John Cena and Reigns engaged on “big” banter.

The “Bulgarian Brute” Rusev had enough of the “big” talk and insinuated there’s a “small guy complex.”

Rock Praises Jax

In case you’ve forgotten, Nia Jax is one of the handful of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s cousins on the WWE roster. As she progresses in the ring, The Rock has praised Jax for making waves. Last night, Jax squashed Emma, and we yet again saw him commend her as she continues the “hardcore life” of professional wrestling.

Jax has previously said her interest in wrestling kicked off when she attended one of The Rock’s WrestleMania matches. He put a word for her and she has trained in the WWE Performance Center.

WWE Battleground US Title Match Controversy

WWE Battleground Botched Finish?

Ever since the crazy ending of the AJ Styles/Kevin Owens US Title match at Battleground on Sunday night, rumors have been swirling over whether or not that was the finish that was supposed to happen. As we all saw, there was a ref bump that led to some of the worst acting I have personally ever seen in a WWE ring and a squirrelly roll-up finish where Styles’ shoulders were obviously off the mat.

Various reports are suggesting that this was not the way the match was supposed to end. Apparently, Styles raised hell when the match was over, and there was said to be a chaotic atmosphere in the back once the bout was over.

Owens was not favored to win this match in the last set of betting odds for WWE Battleground, and since those are normally right on the money, that was the first sign something might have gone awry. We should see something on SmackDown Live tonight to give us some clarification on the US Title issue.

I wouldn’t be surprised, if this actually was a botch and the match wasn’t supposed to end that way, to see WWE turn this into some sort of angle heading into SummerSlam. I can’t see them stripping Owens of the title and handing it back to Styles this close to one of the biggest PPVs of the year.

Alexa Bliss Roasts Emma on Twitter

0

As previously reported, Emma voiced her frustrations on Twitter over not being used on weekly WWE RAW programming. She wrote, “watching Alexa Vs Bayley… Then Sasha and Nia.. Love watching others get more opportunities that I never get! Cool..”

This week Emma got her wish and was booked in a one-sided match against Nia Jax on RAW. After her loss against Nia, Emma took to Twitter and comment about the loss and also attempted to take a dig at Alexa Bliss’ jacket:

Alexa caught wind of the dig and pointed out how Emma doesn’t even have any merchandise:

Wale Returning on Tonight’s SmackDown Live Episode?

0

As seen on Monday’s episode of RAW, rapper Wale was ringside for the show in Washington, DC. Corey Graves mentioned a meeting with Wale “in Richmond” today, which is where tonight’s SmackDown & 205 Live tapings will take place from. It will be interesting to see if WWE does anything with him on tonight’s show.

Wale appeared on the July 4th episode of SmackDown Live as the host for the rap battle between The New Day and The Usos. You can check out footage from that appearance below:

Possible Match for Next Month’s SummerSlam Event

0

As seen on Monday’s episode of RAW, Big Cass destroyed The Big Show after he came down to make the save for Enzo Amore.

Dave Meltzer mentioned on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that Big Cass vs. The Big Show at this year’s SummerSlam event is the direction WWE is going with this feud. Meltzer indicated previously that this match may be going down at SummerSlam, but after Monday’s attack on The Big Show it is much more clearer now that this match will take place at the Summer blockbuster event.

WWE officials are very high on Big Cass, mainly because of his look and his size. He is expected to receive a push coming out of his split from Enzo Amore.

Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Battleground Analysis, Corbin’s Sloppiness, WWE Dropping the Ball with Rusev, More!

0

Russo is joined on today’s show by Skull Von Crush (Big Vito), his old co-host from Vicious Vincent’s World of Wrestling in the early 90’s. They will discuss Sunday’s Battleground PPV.

Russo says that without entertaining characters and in depth storylines, these shows are just full ok fake fights. That’s not what made him a fan of wrestling many years ago, and he believes that’s a big reason why so many mainstream fans have left the product over the last several years.

He thought the opening match of the show between The Usos and The New Day was a very exciting match and all the guys worked hard, but they started the show at such a high octane pace, that it almost made it impossible to follow. He also says the one superkick that was delivered to Xavier Woods from across the ring looked incredible and it looked like it should have legitimately killed him. Having him kick out of a spot like that doesn’t do anything good for the business.

Vito says that he agrees entirely and he felt that this match negatively affected the matches that followed. He thought the match between A.J. Styles and Kevin Owens was the worst match he’s ever seen Styles work, and that should never be the case because Owens is a good worker as well. The finish of this match was so anti-climatic after all the false finishes we saw in the opening match of the show.

The Rock Says He’s Proud of Nia Jax

0

It is no secret that WWE Superstar Nia Jax and The Rock are cousins. The Rock has shown his support to his cousin a number of times before.

Here’s a relatively older video of The Rock putting over Nia Jax:

The Rock has stated that Jax has the potential to be the most dominant female athlete in the history of the WWE. Here’s something The Rock wrote along with the video given above in an Instagram post from December last year:

“She ain’t like most girls. Me and my cuz @niajaxwwe (Lina) layin’ down our post workout ?. Really proud of the hard work she’s putting in 24/7 to become a real asset and draw for the WWE and their Women’s Division which has some of the best female athletes on the planet. Luv spending hours with her chopping it up because she’s so coachable & enthusiastic to learn the wrestling business inside and out from me. But what I’m most proud of about Lina’s journey is she represents millions of young girls around the world who don’t fit the “traditional mould” of what girls in the entertainment industry look like. She’s an inspiring example that regardless of your look, height, weight, race, the most powerful thing you can always be is yourself. Because you’re perfect. Just keep putting in that hard work and being humble and hungry. We’re all rooting for ya. #IronParadise #NiaJax#FutureWWEWomensChamp #WhyBeLikeMostGirls #WhenYouCanBeYourself ??

Once again, the Great One has taken to Twitter to praise his cousin and her progress in the company.

Jax posted this tweet after last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW:

To this, The Rock replied:

What do you think about this great altercation? Sound off below in the comments!
