NXT LVL Up Results – October 7, 2022

October 8, 2022 • Admin

NXT LVL Up Date: October 7, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Matt Camp, Nigel McGuinness We are back to the show that changes so little week to week that I didn’t even realize I watched the same episode twice. Odds are there are going to be a lot of the same things this week as tends to be the case around here. That should mean some ok stuff, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up for anything spectacular. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Indi Hartwell vs. Sloane Jacobs Hartwell grabs a headlock takeover to start as we hear about Hartwell’s time in the Way. Jacobs slips out and hits a basement dropkick, only to get slammed down for two. A cravate goes on but Jacobs fights up and kicks her in the face a few times. Not that it matters as Hartwell hits the spinebuster for the pin at 3:17. Result: Indi Hartwell b. Sloane Jacobs – Spinebuster (3:17) Arianna James and Kiana James say don’t underestimate them. Myles Borne vs. Guru Raaj Borne wrestles him..

REVIEW: PWG Mystery Vortex III: Ok That Makes More Sense

October 8, 2022 • Admin

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Mystery Vortex III Date: June 26, 2015 Location: American Legion Post #308, Reseda, California Commentators: Excalibur, Rick Knox, Chris Hero, Joey Ryan, Ethan Page This is another PWG show that someone requested I do….a few years back now, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a bad one. From what I understand, the gimmick of this show is that the card isn’t announced until the wrestlers are coming out of the curtain. That should make for a fun show so let’s get to it. As usual, I don’t really follow PWG so I’m..

AEW Rampage Results – October 7, 2022

October 8, 2022 • Admin

Rampage Date: October 7, 2022 Location: Entertainment And Sports Arena, Washington DC Commentators: It’s the first half of a live double shot with a special Rampage. That should make the show a bit more interesting, which is a boost that is rather necessary around here. We have a Trios Titles match tonight, as the previously announced mask vs. career match has been canceled due to reasons of Andrade El Idolo. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Blackpool Combat Club vs. Rush/Private Party Regal calls Excalibur a caramel cheesecake that he would let melt in his mouth. Regal to Jericho: “I’d rather rip off my own eyelids and dip my head in hot soapy water than sit next to you.” The Firm is watching at ringside as Castagnoli takes Kassidy down with almost no effort to start. Yuta comes in as Jericho and Regal argue over how filthy and horrible Blackpool, England is. Kassidy gets sent down again so it’s off to Rush, who spits at Moxley and shakes his hair, which is enough to bring Moxle..

Important Update On Becky Lynch’s WWE Status

October 8, 2022 • Admin

That would be a big one. Injuries can change everything about a wrestler’s career in a hurry, often derailing all plans for them. Those injuries can come out of nowhere and happen with no warning, which was the case earlier this year with one of the top stars in all of WWE. Now we have some good news about her status and things might be going a bit better than they seemed. Back at Summerslam in July, Becky Lynch suffered a separated shoulder during her match against Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair. Lynch has not wrestled since the injury and has only appeared once. According to PWInsider.com, Lynch was backstage this week at Monday Night Raw. A separated shoulder usually takes around three months to heal, which would put her back in the ring around the end of October, though no date has been confirmed. Opinion: Anything involving Lynch being back is a good thing as she is one of the most important parts of not only the women’s division but WWE as a whole. Lynch being back can give..

Multiple Title Changes Take Place In One Night

October 8, 2022 • Admin

Hand them over. Titles are some of the most important things in all of wrestling as they tell any fan who matters most on the show. Wrestlers with a large shiny title in their hands are going to be treated as a bigger deal than others and it can mean a lot when a title changes hands. That is what happened on one night, as multiple championships changed hands on a single show. Impact Wrestling held its annual Bound For Glory event on Friday night where two championships changed hands. First up, Frankie Kazarian defeated Mike Bailey to win the X-Division Title for the sixth time. Later, the Death Dollz (Taya Valkyrie/Jessicka) defeated VXT (Chelsea Green/Deonna Purrazzo) to win the Knockouts Tag Team Titles for the first time. In addition, Digital Media Champion Brian Myers, Tag Team Champions OGK, Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace and World Champion Josh Alexander retained their titles. Opinion: Bound For Glory is the kind of show that often sees a lot of changes so only two title cha..

Another Former WWE Star Returns To WWE As New Character

October 8, 2022 • Admin

Welcome back. Over the last few years, WWE has released or let go dozens and dozens of wrestlers from its active roster, with the majority being attributed to budget cuts. Since Vince McMahon has retired though, several of those names have returned to the company in one way or another. That is the case again, as another name is being brought back in an entirely new role. This week on SmackDown, a vignette aired hinting at the return of the Viking Raiders. At the end of the vignette, a female voice was heard but no one was seen. According to Fightful Select, the segment was designed to re-introduce Sarah Logan, who is married to Erik and was released from WWE in 2020. Logan returned to WWE in a one night appearance at the 2022 Royal Rumble. Opinion: Cool. Logan is someone who seemed like she could have been a star if she was given the chance but never got a real shot. Putting her in a team with her husband should work well and I could go for seeing her get a spot like this. If nothing..

Update On AEW All Out Backstage Brawl Investigation, Legal Action Reportedly Threatened

October 8, 2022 • Admin

It’s a process. There have been a lot of things going on in the wrestling world over the course of the year and some of them have been more positive than others. One of the biggest stories was the brawl after the AEW All Out media scrum, which left several wrestlers suspended from the company. The bigger names are still missing, but we do now have an update on one of them. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the investigation into the backstage brawl is still ongoing. The reason for the investigation taking so long is due to one of the people involved threatening some sort of legal action, but it is not clear who is threatening whom with what kind of action. No one involved in the situation has been released from the company and it is not clear if anyone will. Opinion: This is a strange situation and I’m not sure where the whole thing is going to wind up. At the end of the day, it was a terrible situation and a huge mess for AEW, but now the question becomes what happens ..

SmackDown Results – October 7, 2022

October 8, 2022 • Admin

Smackdown Date: October 7, 2022 Location: DCU Center, Worcester, Massachusetts Commentators: Michael Cole, Wade Barrett It’s the season premiere of a show that has seasons in the loosest sense of the world. This week features a showdown between Roman Reigns and Logan Paul, plus a rematch from Clash At The Castle with Gunther defending the Intercontinental Title against Sheamus. One of these things should be awesome so let’s get to it. HHH is in the ring to get things going to say that there will be a time when you think everything is over but it is just the beginning. Welcome to Smackdown, where there is another QR code on the microphone cube. Wade Barrett is introduced as the new member of the commentary teams. With HHH gone, here is the Bloodline for a chat. Roman Reigns hits the catchphrase but gets cut off by Logan Paul, who stays on the apron. Reigns invites him in and the fans DO NOT like Paul. Reigns: “Don’t worry, they did that to me years ago too.” Paul Heyman is told to s..

NXT Stable Debuts On SmackDown, New Member Added

October 8, 2022 • Admin

Meet the new ones. There are a lot of people down in NXT whose goal is to make it up to the main roster. That is the entire point of NXT as a developmental system, as the wrestlers are hoping to get to Monday Night Raw or SmackDown. It can mean a lot to get such a promotion, and now three wrestlers have, albeit with a surprise new addition to the ranks of their group. This week’s SmackDown featured Hit Row coming to the ring for a match, only to be jumped by the debuting Legado del Fantasma. The team, comprised of Santos Escobar, Cruz del Toro and Joaquin Wilde, was missing Elektra Lopez, who was replaced by the returning Zelina Vega. The team beat down Hit Row and then introduced themselves to end the segment. Legado del Fantasma left NXT earlier this year, while Vega has been out of action with an injury since April. Opinion: The Legado promotion is long, long overdue and I’m not sure why it took so long to get them called up. Lopez being replaced by Vega makes a bit of sense, as V..

Bound For Glory 2022 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

October 7, 2022 • Admin

I know Impact Wrestling might not be at the top of everyone’s hit list at the moment but the company does have a long history of important shows and big moments. This show is the biggest thing that they offer and we should be in for a special night as a result. The build has gone well and there are some promising matches on here so if they can live up to the hype, we could be in for a lot of fun. Let’s get to it. Pre-Show: Digital Media Title: Brian Myers(c) vs. ??? I’m glad to be getting this out of the way early as there is no way of knowing how this is going to go. It’s a mystery opponent/open challenge deal because we haven’t had one of those in at least 14 seconds. This could be almost anyone and while that is interesting, there is only so much to be had out of a Kickoff Show match for the lower midcard title, even with the entertaining Myers involved. We’ll go with Myers to….lose here, as a title change like this one would be a nice way to get the night started. As for who take..

Former AEW Star Returning To Company After Hiatus

October 7, 2022 • Admin

Welcome back. AEW has had quite the large amount of wrestlers coming through its doors over the years, with different names from around the world. The variety has allowed for some different combinations and the showcasing of different stars that you might not have ever seen before. Now one of the stars who left is likely to be back in the company rather soon. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Konosuke Takeshita will be returning to AEW “in a couple of weeks”. This comes after Takeshita returned to Japan following an excursion to AEW earlier this year. AEW always had plans for him to return though it was not clear when he would. Takeshita has faced several AEW names during his time with the company, including challenging Claudio Castagnoli for the Ring Of Honor World Title. Opinion: This is some great news as Takeshita came in to AEW and made an immediate impact while having one entertaining match after another. While the roster is already rather big and deep, there are ..

Impact Wrestling Results – October 6, 2022

October 7, 2022 • Admin

Impact Wrestling Date: October 6, 2022 Location: Skyway Studios, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan It’s the go home show for Bound For Glory, which is tomorrow for whatever reason they have come up with this time. That is one of those things that is always a little weird and I can’t quite get into the idea here either. The good thing is that the card is already set so we should be in for the hard sell this time around. Let’s get to it. In Memory of Antonio Inoki. Opening recap. Kenny King vs. Frankie Kazarian They fight over a lockup to start and go long enough that it has to be broken up in the corner. Some armdrags take King down but it’s way too early for the chickenwing, meaning Kazarian has to settle for a hammerlock. The Royal Flush is countered as well and Kazarian takes him down with a clotheslines. That just earns him a dropkick out to the floor, followed by the springboard spinning legdrop to give King two back inside. The seated abdominal..

Popular Name Gone From WWE After Six Years With The Company

October 7, 2022 • Admin

There goes another one. WWE has been shaken up in several different ways recently and those changes do not seem to be slowing down whatsoever. With a new regime in charge of the company, all kinds of names have been moved around into different spots, with some people leaving altogether. That is the case again, as another popular name has departed from WWE. According to PWInsider.com, Nigel McGuinness has been released from WWE. This comes after WWE has shaken up their announcing teams with all shows now moving to two announcers. McGuinness is the second commentator to leave WWE after Jimmy Smith earlier this week. McGuinness has worked for the company since 2016 and has done commentary on Main Event, 205 Live, NXT UK and NXT. There is no word on where he will be working next. Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise after everything was shaken up yesterday but it is also a shame as McGuinness was one of the better commentators in WWE. He has the in-ring credentials and the fans respo..

Another Name Returns To AEW Following Suspension (Contains Mild Spoiler)

October 7, 2022 • Admin

That’s one down. There have been a lot of stories taking place in wrestling this year but one of the most infamous was the locker room fight after AEW All Out. The brawl resulted in several suspensions of wrestlers and backstage workers, some of whom had far more to do with the situation than others. Some of the suspensions have started to be lifted though and now another seems to be over. According to F4WOnline.com, Brandon Cutler, who was suspended for his role in the backstage brawl, returned to AEW earlier this week, wrestling on Dark: Elevation. This would mean that his suspension has been served and he is back to work full time. Cutler was never accused of taking part in the fight and seemed to have been trying to break it up instead. Opinion: This isn’t much of a surprise and it is nice to see some of the situation being cleared up. There were a lot of people involved in this situation but some of them seem to have merely been present for it rather than a contributing factor. ..

Bandido Denies Signing With AEW, Big Update On Contract Status

October 7, 2022 • Admin

Not so fast. There are a lot of talented stars in the wrestling world who are not part of either WWE or AEW. Some of those wrestlers are among the most talented in the world and either major promotion would love to have them on their roster. It can become very interesting when someone gets caught in a bidding war between the promotions and that is the case again. Earlier this week, a report surfaced that former Ring Of Honor World Champion Bandido had come to terms with AEW on a contract. However, according to Bandido himself in an interview with Mas Lucha, he has NOT yet signed a deal with AEW and is still in negotiations with them. Bandido has also received an offer from WWE and there is no word on which way he is leaning. Opinion: Now this makes things more interesting as I’m not sure what is going to happen. Bandido is one of the most talented stars in the wrestling world these days and, assuming he wants to sign, he is going to wind up somewhere. That is going to be quite the co..

The fans voted her as the winner, a..

Why The Rock’s Relationship With John Cena Originally Went Sour

October 7, 2022 • Admin

It set them apart. There are very few names who have become the undisputed face of WWE over the years. These are some of the biggest names in the history of wrestling and they are often around for a long time. Every now and then you get to see two of them face off over an issue. That was the case at one point, but it was the result of a personal issue between them. In his new book “There’s Just One Problem…: True Tales from the Former, One-Time, 7th Most Powerful Person in WWE”, former WWE writer Brian Gerwitz talked about the real life issues between the Rock and John Cena. The Rock’s side of the issue came from Cena saying that he felt the Rock never gave anything back to WWE after leaving for Hollywood. The worst part was that Cena made the comments in an interview rather than saying them to Cena’s face. Cena and the Rock would later make amends and face each other at WrestleMania 28 and 29. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that can cause some issues for everyone involved as Cen..

WWE Broadcaster Confirms Departure From The Company Amid Shakeup

October 7, 2022 • Admin

It was a nice run. The position of lead commentator on WWE Monday Night Raw is one of the most important in all of WWE. The show is still the company’s flagship program and fans are going to see what they company is doing every Monday night. We are currently going through a change in broadcasting, but one name is not going to be reassigned to another place in the company. Earlier this week, a report emerged that WWE would be changing the broadcasting teams on the three main television shows. This included Jimmy Smith being removed as the lead play by play announcer on Monday Night Raw. Smith has since commented on the situation, confirming that he has left WWE. Smith thanked fans for his time in the company and said that he was moving on, though not to where. This ends Smith’s run with WWE, which started in May 2021. Just wanted to say, now that the story is officially out, that my time with the WWE is officially done. Had a lot of fun and met some great people. Really and truly blow..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Update On AEW Star Possibly Moving Back To WWE

October 6, 2022 • Admin

There’s no interest. The rise of AEW has seen several stars having a new place to go in the wrestling world. While there have always been other promotions to go to, there are only so many spots on such a high level. Not everyone is going to be a good fit in WWE for one reason or another and one former WWE star does not seem like he would want to be back there anyway. According to SportsKeeda.com, AEW’s Miro has no interest in returning to WWE or leaving AEW. This comes after Miro had seemingly vented frustrations about his status in AEW but has not asked for his release. There is also said to be no interest from WWE in bringing Miro back to the company, where he wrestled under the name Rusev. Miro has not wrestled since All Out on September 4. Opinion: There are some interesting discussions of wrestlers jumping from one promotion to the other and that makes things a lot more fun. It can be fascinating to see someone trying to get out of their deal or trying to move elsewhere and then..

Several More Details On AEW Backstage Fight, Who Started Everything

October 6, 2022 • Admin

There’s a lot more to it than that. One of the biggest wrestling stories of the week has been the backstage altercation between Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara at this week’s AEW TV taping. It is the latest physical altercation between AEW stars and comes after El Idolo made negative comments about Guevara in an interview on Mexican television. Now we know some more about the situation. According to Fightful Select, El Idolo was said to have been the aggressor and was at the taping for the sake of fighting Guevara. El Idolo reportedly threw punches at Guevara, who did not throw punches back. According to Wrestling Observer Radio and Fightful Select, this is why only El Idolo was sent home and not Guevara, who went on to get the pinfall in the show’s main event. The Observer had five accounts of the incident, none of which say that Guevara ever threw a punch, but one account did say he shoved El Idolo after being spun around. El Idolo is said to be doing this in an effort to get fir..
