John Cena Says He’s Looking Forward to Facing Roman Reigns

While speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, John Cena was asked about Roman Reigns and possibly having a match against him in the future. Cena responded with the following:

“Roman is in the trenches every night and he’s performing at an elite level with a champion caliber attitude. His performance and the response that he gets from certain audiences is indicative of an elite-level performer. He’s doing what I did in 2006, 2007, and 2008. He has all the justification in the world in saying it’s his yard. I’ve made a career of shutting the mouths of people who’ve made that claim that WWE was their yard. I very, very much look forward to the day we put that to the test.”

You can read the complete interview here.

Matt Hardy Continues to Take Shots Former Bosses

Matt Hardy continues to take shots at his former bosses at Impact Wrestling. He sent out the following tweet suggesting that TNA would have been better if they sold the company to Billy Corgan instead of Anthem Sports:

If @Billy had got TNA, company/talent would've been great.

Instead, a naive @EdNordholm is now funding GFW into existence at TNA's expense. https://t.co/2ajD3OhmJr

— I AM MORE (@MATTHARDYBRAND) May 12, 2017

4 Superstars Who Are About to Become Very Important to Smackdown

Ever since the Superstar Shakeup, Smackdown has struggled to find its footing. The loss of Dean Ambrose and the Miz was a particularly crippling one. Still, there are new, fresh faces on the roster. With the shift in the landscape, a few superstars will step up to the plate and move up the ladder. Here are four superstars who will become very important to the blue brand in the coming days.

4. Rusev

Rusev is one of the most underrated performers on the roster today. His character work is excellent, and he is surprisingly agile. He can cut a mean promo, and English might not even be his first language. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was, though, as he sounds so natural when he speaks.

Smackdown’s writing team built up Baron Corbin, who nobody liked at first. They made us care about Dolph Ziggler and the Miz. Luke Harper was almost made into a big deal. They made one of the best stories in 2016 with Heath Slater and Rhyno. There’s no reason they can’t do the same with Rusev.

The fact that he is demanding a title match at Money in the Bank at least shows some effort on WWE’s part. It makes him kind of seem like a big deal. It’s unlikely that we’ll get Rusev v. Mahal, so they’re probably just going to feed him to Orton, but it’s still something. After it all, Smackdown can build Rusev right back up. They can start right before his match with Orton, actually. He returns next week, so have him beat the hell out of Sin Cara. They can turn him into a viable contender in time. They’re doing it right now with Jinder Mahal. Expect big things from Rusev.

3. Baron Corbin

WWE is clearly high on Baron Corbin. He’s been obliterating his competition lately. He steamrolled through Apollo Crews, Kalisto, and Jack Swagger. He was in the Elimination Chamber. Heck, he doesn’t even eat the pin in triple threat matches.

There are big plans for Corbin, methinks. Many expect him to win Money in the Bank this year. It’s going to be a stacked match, with the likes of Sami Zayn and AJ Styles potentially competing in the match as well, but Corbin is still seen as the favorite in the match.

It’s not hard to see why. His mic work isn’t the best, but his moveset is pretty good. The End of Days and the Deep Six bring a nice amount of theatrics, which seems to be more important than it actually looking painful (see: the Spanish Fly). He also has the ability to hit these moves out of nowhere. He’s a surprisingly agile big man who understands who his character is supposed to be.

With Smackdown having the smaller roster, there are more opportunities afforded to everyone. Corbin has made the best of these opportunities. I wholly expect him to be holding gold in a year’s time.

WWE Officials Extremely High on Aleister Black

As seen at the WWE NXT Takeover: Orlando event, Aleister Black made his debut for the company and has been featured on weekly NXT television.

It’s being said that his stay in NXT will not be a long one. Company officials are extremely high on his character and ring work. Unless he suffers an injury of sorts, he will probably be on the roster in no time.

Hideo Itami Taking Back the GTS from CM Punk

Hideo Itami mentioned on Twitter that he will be taking back the move he created that was stolen by CM Punk, the GTS. He sent out the following message while promoting that upcoming NXT Takeover: Chicago event:

It will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts if he attempts to do the move in Punk’s hometown.

R-Truth to Host His Own WWE Network Show Soon

According to PWInsider, R-Truth is all set to start his own show on the WWE Network. The series might end up hitting the Network by early fall.

WWE has secretly filmed the pilot for the new show already. The show is supposed to be some kind of a game show which will make it the first of its kind on the WWE Network.

With WWE looking to make the Network more big of a deal, shows like these might end up helping it garner more subscriptions and viewers.

Also, R-Truth is one of the most entertaining superstars on the roster, hence choosing him to be the host of shows like these is a wise move by the company.

Big Update on the Return’s of John Cena & Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman are being advertised for the July 3rd RAW event, while John Cena is being advertised for the July 4th SmackDown Live show.

As noted yesterday, both shows are being held at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. WWE is offering a two-for-one deal on the tickets because the feeling is it will be hard to get people in on a holiday week.

The RAW event is the go-home show from the Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view, where Lesnar is being advertised to defend the WWE Universal Championship. Originally, Lesnar was slated to defend that title against Braun Stromwn on the card, whoever those plans are very likely to change. Braun is expected to be out of action for 6-8 weeks to recover from elbow surgery. Finn Balor and Seth Rollins are the top candidates to replace Stromwn on the show.

Cena, who has been off WWE programming since WrestleMania, is out filming movies. With him being advertised for this event, it is possible that he will be returning to WWE television soon. There is no word on who Cena will be feuding with when he returns. We will keep you updated.

John Cena Reveals Why He Proposed to Nikki Bella at WrestleMania

While speaking to Fox Sports, John Cena was asked why he decided to propose to Nikki Bella at WrestleMania this year.

“It was a very public manner but the WWE is my home and I consider the WWE universe my family and that was a big, big moment in my life and I guess I just wanted to share it with my family.”

Cena was revealed that it was the most nervous he had ever been his entire life.

“That was the most nervous I have ever been in my entire life and not only was I worried about her response but I was worried about the reaction of the 75,000 people of the Camping World Stadium. I didn’t know that they would react in such a positive way, and I’m forever indebted to our fans for being able to allow me to celebrate the greatest moment of my life.”

Cena was also asked about if they have a wedding date in mind but didn’t reveal any details.

“Yes, they’re very ground floor right now but as it gets more and more refined it’s going to be more and more fun.”

You can check out the full interview here.

WWE Offering Crazy Deal for July 3rd & July 4th Episodes of RAW & SmackDown

WWE is offering an amazing two-for-one ticket deal for the upcoming RAW & SmackDown events that falls on a holiday week.

Apparently the company believes that it will be hard to push ticket sales for the July 3rd and 4th episodes of RAW and SmackDown because it will be a holiday week so they are giving the fans a deal that is too good to pass up. The events will be held at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, AZ.
