Jeff Hardy Arrested for DWI Saturday Night

Dang it Jeff. Last year at “Wrestlemania XXXIII”, the Hardys returned to WWE for the first time in nearly ten years. It was possibly the biggest moment of the night and since then, fans have been clamoring to see Jeff Hardy make a singles run. Now though, something has gotten in the way of that happening. It’s still a great moment. [This post contains video, click to play] According to PWInsider.com, Jeff was arrested for driving while impaired on Saturday night in Cameron County, North Carolina. There aren’t many specifics on what happened but Jeff has had his driver’s license suspended for thirty days and has a trial date of April 28. There is no word on what this may mean for his WWE status, though he is currently recovering from shoulder surgery. Jeff might need to help his brother in a big match soon. Opinion: I’m not sure what to say here. Jeff has a long history with legal issues and there’s no positive way to spin something like this. There’s a good chance that this is ..

Aries had a big time title defense this week on “Impact Wrestling”. Check out the results here. Opinion: Works for me. Aries has been on a roll as of late and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him challenging for the title in New Orleans..

Impact Wrestling Ratings and Audience – March 8, 2018

What’s the staying power of a baseball bat to the face? It was the talk of wrestling for the week, but how many viewers stuck around? Miss last night’s show? Here are some quick highlights. These numbers are down 30% and 11% from last week’s .1 rating and 365,000 viewers. Last week’s audience was the highest total since July 14, 2017. Last night’s show was a major card, featuring a main event of Austin Aries defending the Impact Wrestling World Title against Johnny Impact. Here are this week’s results. Rumor: Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar Not “Wrestlemania” Main Event?

This is the main event? For over a year now, the general consensus among wrestling fans is that Roman Reigns will end “Wrestlemania XXXIV” by conquering Brock Lesnar to win the Universal Title. While the title match itself is already set, there’s a chance that it won’t be the last thing on the show. This might be the last thing you see instead. [This post contains video, click to play] According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter by way of 411mania.com, there is a chance that the Triple H/Stephanie McMahon vs. Kurt Angle/Ronda Rousey match will be closing the show instead of Reigns vs. Lesnar. The idea here is twofold: WWE wants to downplay Lesnar as he may be on the way out of the company but also wants to have the fans rally behind Reigns rather than loudly booing him as they’ve done in the past. Paul Heyman responded to Reigns this week, which you can read about here. Opinion: I’m really not sure I buy this. If there’s one thing WWE has shown over the last few years, it’s ..

Video: Top Ten Infamous Sucker Punches

To the jaw! As important as grappling is to professional wrestling, more often than not a match is based around throwing punches. Some people are better than others but there’s something to be said about a good punch in wrestling. It might be even better if someone doesn’t see it coming. That sounds like a countdown. [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has released a new top ten list of the most Infamous Sucker Punches in WWE. Most of these are more modern entries, many of which took place on TV rather than in a major pay per view match. Several of them involved an authority figure in one way or another but a good number of them were wrestler to wrestler. Here are the results from a punch that made the list. Opinion: This isn’t the most thrilling list in the world as the majority of these aren’t exactly memorable moments. The Triple H punch to Kurt Angle was recent rather than big and Big Show punching John Cena wasn’t even the most infamous incident of the same excha..

WWE Spoils an Upcoming Big Match? (Potential SPOILERS)

Geez warn us next time. We have less than a month to go before NXT “Takeover: New Orleans” and the majority of the card is pretty obvious. A match that is likely for the card would seem to be Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa but Gargano is no longer on the roster. WWE might have found a way around that, even though it’s not something we’re supposed to know yet. Here’s something else from the same show you are supposed to know about. [This post contains video, click to play] Friday night, WWE made a post on its social media accounts, including its Facebook page, listing the “Takeover: New Orleans” card. This included matches announced during the recent “NXT” tapings, but also an unannounced match between Gargano and Ciampa, which is billed as unsanctioned. Here’s a screenshot of the post: WWE accidentally posted this on Facebook before immediately deleting it. pic.twitter.com/zWykr5eOp5 — rovert (@SoDuTw) March 10, 2018 Opinion: I don’t think the match itself is all that shock..

Wrestlemania IV Review: A Really Long Tournament

On February 5, 1988, Andre the Giant defeated Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Title in a big of an underhanded way. This was part of a much bigger plan formed by newcomer Ted DiBiase, the Million Dollar Man. DiBiase had stated his intentions to buy the title from Hogan but when that had fallen through, DiBiase decided to back Andre and then buy the title. During the match, Andre suplexed Hulk down and Hogan kicked out at two but DiBiase’s master plan kicked in as referee Dave Hebner counted the pin while Hogan’s shoulder was clearly off the mat. Somehow Andre was declared the new WWF World (Tag Team according to Andre after the match) Champion and immediately tried to sell the belt to DiBiase. Ted was named the new champion and celebrated as….Dave Hebner came out. There were two Dave Hebners with the theory being that DiBiase had paid someone to receive plastic surgery to look like Hebner and impersonate him during the match (of course this was Dave’s twin brother Earl). Somehow t..

Matt Hardy on if He Believes the Young Bucks Will Come to WWE

‘Raw‘ Superstar Matt Hardy was interviewed by Sportskeeda where he spoke about The Young Bucks possibly coming to WWE, The Dudley Boyz going into the Hall of Fame and his opinions on The Bar. The ‘Woken’ being first talked about The Young Bucks and if he could envision them coming to WWE. “That’s an interesting question. Personally, I’m a fan of the Bucks of Youth both as performers and as people. I think they’re doing pretty well right now and I can see them staying in that same division. But I certainly think that they could end up in WWE if they decided to make that decision. “It’ll be interesting because being in WWE there’s a very stringent system and a certain protocol. For me, it’ll be very interesting to see how the Bucks of Youth will be able to survive and if they can thrive in that stringent protocol.” Next, he commented on old rivals in The Dudley Boyz entering the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2018. “I think the Dudley Boyz going into the Hall of Fame is a great decision. ..

AJ Styles on What Roman Reigns Told Him, Opinion of Himself

WWE Champion AJ Styles was a guest on Chasing Glory With Lilian Garcia where he gave his opinion on himself and his relationships with other talents behind the scenes. The WWE Champion first gave his opinion on himself as a wrestler. “I try to stay humble and never assume anything because when you break down the word assume, you know what that means. Like I said, I never assume anything and in this business, you can’t. Again, things change so fast and you never know what’s going to happen, so I don’t assume, ‘oh, I’m that good’ or ‘I’m that [great]’. First of all, I don’t believe I’m that good or I’m that great. I want to be one day, but I never assume. I try not to watch matches. When I do watch them, I get so mad at myself. I think they could’ve been better or a promo that could’ve been better that it just tears me up, so I know there’s a point that hopefully I can get there, but I’m not there yet. I want to be.” He explains what the most enjoyable part about what he does is. “I d..

What Nickelodeon Franchise Did John Cena Audition For?

16-time WWE Champion John Cena was spotted auditioning for a prime role in an old Nickelodeon franchise that is looking to have a reboot, according to WWE’s official website. Adweek senior editor Jason Lynch snapped a photo to his Twitter account showing John Cena in the signature green striped shirt and khaki pants of Blue’s Clues host Steve. In the photo, Cena appears to be reading from a script or holding a thin green object while another woman is on the stage with him. Check it out: . @JohnCena auditioning to be the new #BluesClues host. pic.twitter.com/zuLXMCtHQ8 — Jason Lynch (@jasonlynch) March 6, 2018 While Nickelodeon is creating the revival, no further details are known as to whether the host will go by their real name and what the overall look of the reboot will be. Blue’s Clues originally launched on Nick Jr. back in 1996, and was in many ways similar to that of Dora or Diego the Explorers, with a live-action host and Blue, the animated puppy. Cena is scheduled to ho..

Another NXT Talent Has Been Released

It was previously reported that Sage Beckett and Abbey Laith were both released from their NXT contracts yesterday. One more name can now be added to that last, as a new report from F4WOnline has confirmed that Gu Guangming has also been released. He was among 7 competitors that were recruited from China in 2016. You can see a video of their signing below: [This post contains video, click to play] According to the report, Guangming started appearing at NXT Live Events last year under the name Ming, as an enforcer for Kona Reeves. However, but he never appeared on WWE programming. Prior to his time in WWE, Guangming competed in amateur boxing at the super-heavyweight division. He represented China at the 2013 AIBA World Boxing Championships and the 2014 Asian Games. Editor’s Opinion: This doesn’t surprise me. To be honest, I had no idea who this person was until I found out this news. However, I have no doubt that he is a very talented superstar, otherwise WWE wouldn’t have given..

Video: 5 Times Brock Lesnar Has Broken Bones

What a list to be on. I don’t think it’s any secret that Brock Lesnar is a very different kind of wrestler. He’s bigger, stronger and angrier than almost anyone else that wrestling has ever seen. It’s that kind of difference that has allowed him to put together one of the most devastating lists you’ll ever see. This just hurts. [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has released a video of five times Lesnar has broken someone’s bones. This includes names from both of Lesnar’s runs with the company, starting in 2002-2003 and the latter which began in April 2012. Lesnar has injured a variety of people in that time, with some names bigger than others. Here’s what Lesnar did in his latest title defense. Opinion: Like I said, what a list to have. It’s literally a list of people that he’s hurt severely in a variety of cases. That’s not a list you want to be on but it’s a heck of a list to have yourself. Lesnar is a beast unlike almost anyone else WWE has ever seen and while he..

Two Names Released From NXT Contracts

Two more out the door. One of the most interesting things about WWE is when they sign someone new. You’ll often see a big name debuting for NXT at one of their Takeover shows and it’s always going to create an uproar. However, there’s also the other side of the spectrum, with a pair of releases. That’s the case today. Here’s one of the releases in action. [This post contains video, click to play] According to Prowrestlingsheet.com, both Sage Beckett and Abbey Laith have been released from their NXT contracts. Both appeared in last year’s Mae Young Classic and have been sparingly used on “NXT” TV since. Laith wrestled on the independent circuit as Kimber Lee and Beckett formerly appeared in Impact Wrestling as Rosie Lottalove before losing over 100lbs. You can read this week’s “NXT” Results here. Opinion: Really, this isn’t the biggest surprise. Since the Mae Young Classic, both have barely appeared on “NXT” and it’s not like they were stars. It was nice to have them around for ..

Backstage News On the Plans For “The Ultimate Deletion”

It was previously reported that Matt Hardy has challenged Bray Wyatt to a match at the “Hardy Compound,” which is being referred to as “The Ultimate Deletion.” The challenge occurred on this past week’s episode of “Raw,” which you can see below: [This post contains video, click to play] According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current plan is for the match to occur on “Raw” as opposed to WrestleMania. The reason for that is because although the matches that were done at the Hardy Compound in TNA drew a lot of interest, the Hardys were the focal point of TNA at that time. This is not necessarily the case in WWE. In addition, if Jeff Hardy returns in time, there is talk of a match between The Hardys and Sheamus & Cesaro at WrestleMania for the “Raw” Tag Team titles. There are currently no plans for The Bar to have a match at WrestleMania. Editor’s Opinion: I could see this going both ways. While it could be tricky to have a pre-taped segment occur ..

Backstage News on the Plans For Brock Lesnar Going Into WrestleMania; What’s The Angle?

It has been previously reported that Roman Reigns will be challenging Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans. There have been rumors that “The Beast” is planning to leave WWE after WrestleMania in order to make his return to UFC. How is this effecting what the plan for the champion is heading into the biggest show of the year? The feud between Reigns and Lesnar is heating up, which you can see from “The Big Dog’s” interaction with Paul Heyman this past week on “Raw:” [This post contains video, click to play] According to the latest episode of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is planning to have the storyline be that Lesnar is, in fact, leaving and that he is being downplayed on the way out, so it won’t come across as such a big loss. They are wanting to create a situation where the fans celebrate his departure. In addition, the company is to try and get a babyface reaction for Reigns as the guy who beats Lesnar and sends him off into t..

Update on Bobby Fish, How Long Will He Be Out?

Fish out of the ring. Injuries can be devastating to a wrestler’s career and this one happened at a terrible time. Earlier this month, Bobby Fish, one half of the NXT Tag Team Champions, injured his knee at an NXT house show. It was clear that he would miss ring time, but now we know how long. Here’s what a healthy Fish can do. [This post contains video, click to play] According to F4Wonline.com by way of Wrestlinginc.com, Bobby Fish underwent surgery today to repair minor tears in both his ACL and MCL. This injury will put Fish out of action for about six months. At the moment, Fish is scheduled to defend the NXT Tag Team Titles at “Takeover: New Orleans”. There is no word on what will happen to the title match. Here’s one of Fish’s best performances in NXT. Opinion: Well dang. I’m not sure how they’re going to handle this at “Takeover”, unless there’s a new partner to help Kyle O’Reilly. Either that or they’ll just have O’Reilly fight by himself for the most part with Fish be..

Update on the Bar’s “Wrestlemania” Plans

They are the bench warmers? I remember being at the “Monday Night Raw” when Sheamus and Cesaro were put together. To put it mildly, I wasn’t a fan of the idea. Since then, the team has become one of the better acts on “Monday Night Raw” as they’ve completely found their groove as the Bar. That groove might not be enough for them at the moment though. They’re good enough for this though. [This post contains video, click to play] According to F4Wonline.com by way of Wrestlinginc.com, the Bar is currently not scheduled to have a match at “Wrestlemania XXXIV”. They may be part of an angle, though plans may change. At the moment, the Bar has issued an open challenge for the show after defeating most of the current teams on “Monday Night Raw”. Opinion: After everything they’ve done, I would certainly hope that the Bar gets their chance at “Wrestlemania”. Sure they’ve had a match there before, but they’ve earned the right to have a big feature presentation. I really hope they don’t get..

Cesaro: “I Think Every Person That Brings a Beach Ball Into a WWE Arena Should Get Ejected for Life”

Cesaro was recently interviewed by City Pages to promote WWE’s upcoming show in Minneapolis, Minnesota this Friday. He discussed a number of topics, including Tag Team wrestling, beach balls, his place in the company and more. Below are some questions, along with the “Swiss Superstar’s” answers: CP: You’re a record five-time WWE Raw Tag Team Champion, and before coming to WWE, you were renowned for your work in the indies as a tag team specialist. Why is it that you excel in tag team wrestling specifically? Cesaro: I’m really good, and I bring the best out of every single person in the ring. Especially my tag team partners. CP: How is the mentality different when you’re wrestling in a tag team versus in singles competition? Cesaro: You have to depend on somebody the whole time as well. You can’t be selfish and just worry about yourself because there’s somebody else with you. Of course, it’s an added benefit when you have someone like Sheamus, who is a world-class Superstar, with yo..

Major Change Coming to NXT Next Month (Contains Spoiler)

One more for the pile. While the main roster shows seem to have one change after another, “NXT” has managed to find a very solid balance for itself over the last few years. With its three titles, things have settled into a status quo that works very well and rarely changes. Now though, a big change is coming. You might want to get to know this guy first. [This post contains video, click to play] You can read this week’s “NXT” results here. As announced on WWE.com, a fourth title will be added to NXT with the inaugural champion being crowned at “Takeover: New Orleans”. At tonight’s “NXT” tapings, General Manager William Regal announced the creation of the North American Championship. The first champion will be crowned in a six man ladder match contested between Velveteen Dream, EC3, Ricochet, Killian Dain, Lars Sullivan and Adam Cole. Opinion: Well it’s different than another tournament. I had been wondering how all these names would fit into the upcoming “Takeover” card and thi..
