March 27, 2018 • Admin

Monday Night Raw Date: March 26, 2018 Location: Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, Ohio Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Jonathan Coachman We’ve got two shows to go before New Orleans and WWE is still dragging its feet to get to John Cena vs. the Undertaker. Tonight we have Cena vs. Kane though, which is likely the next step on the way to the big showdown. Other than that, we might get a few more names added to the battle royals. Let’s get to it. Here are last week’s results if you need a recap. Here are Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman to open things up. Heyman recaps the attack on Roman Reigns last week and of course we see some clips. As it turns out, Reigns’ suspension is lifted but he’s not here tonight. Heyman goes over the Samoan wrestling family raising Roman to be a star and a champion. What they didn’t raise him to be is a man. Reigns was the one saying he was here every single week no matter what but he’s not here tonight. Maybe Reigns should have found three MMA stude..

March 26, 2018 • Admin

Main Event Results – March 22, 2018

March 26, 2018 • Admin

Main Event Date: March 22, 2018 Location: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Vic Joseph Nigel McGuinness I’m just going out on a limb here but I think Smackdown might get some extra attention this week. You know, because of that whole biggest story of the year thing that went down. There was good stuff on Raw too though, meaning we might not be getting a lot of original content this time around. Let’s get to it. Here’s last week’s show if you need a recap. Opening sequence. Curt Hawkins vs. Heath Slater Hawkins wastes no time in laying down so Slater can pin him but his “surprise” kick to the head is easily countered. A running clothesline puts Hawkins on the floor and he’d be more than happy to have Rhyno attack him for a DQ. Slater cuts him off but Hawkins cuts him off, followed by a chinlock inside. The comeback is cut off with a dropkick and Slater has to break out of another chinlock. There’s an enziguri to get Slater out of trouble and a neckbreaker is ..

March 26, 2018 • Admin

Jeff Jarrett was recently interviewed by The Times-Picayune, in preparation for his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. He discussed a number of topics, including his relationship with the company, the future of Global Force Wrestling and more. In his first run with WWE in the 90’s, he made a music video to “With My Baby Tonight.” You can see it below: [This post contains video, click to play] Below are some questions along with “Double J’s” answers: What was your reaction when you got the phone call to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame? It was a Sunday morning in early January. It was all in about 60 seconds. I was shocked. It was a very surreal moment. And then pretty quickly, I had a real sense of gratitude and am very grateful and humbled. My family has been in the business for three generations. For me to get this honor, I’m just incredibly humbled about this situation. What’s your relationship with WWE? It’s been nothing but spectacular reconnecting. Really looking fo..

Baron Corbin on WWE: “[I] Thought It Was Going To Be Easy”

March 26, 2018 • Admin

Baron Corbin was recently interviewed by Sky Sports, where he discussed his time in WWE and how he thought the transition to the company would be. He recently competed on “Smackdown Live” against Tye Dillinger, and you can see a clip of that match below: [This post contains video, click to play] Below are some highlights from the interview: On joining NXT and WWE: “Honestly, I was a little bit arrogant because I came in and thought it was going to be easy and that I’d be on television in a year, no problem. “Then you realise how many different things it takes to become a successful superstar, and it really is a rude awakening. I thought it would take a year, but it was three and a half years later that I got called up (to the main roster). It is not easy. “I didn’t realise how much detail went into it all and it was a rude awakening for me and it was humbling.” On if professional wrestling gets the respect it deserves: “I definitely don’t think it does. I would challenge anyon..

Video: WWE Music Fills the Streets of New Orleans

March 25, 2018 • Admin

The band plays on. With less than three weeks before “Wrestlemania XXXIV”, it’s time for the WWE to take over New Orleans. While there’s a lot to Wrestlemania week, some of the coolest things that they do has nothing to do with the actual wrestling shows. There’s a lot of culture in New Orleans and that’s what we’re looking at today. This is just cool. [This post contains video, click to play] In a new video posted to WWE’s YouTube page, a brass band walks through some of New Orleans’ most famous landmarks playing various WWE themes. Some of the songs include John Cena, Bobby Roode, Triple H and Shinsuke Nakamura. At one point, the band is joined by New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. Opinion: I love this kind of stuff. It really gives you a feeling that Wrestlemania is almost here and that’s an exciting time for any fan. Just knowing that we’re about to get to where we’ve been heading for the better part of a year is worth it. The music is cool too and it would get me very excite..

Full Match: Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar From “Wrestlemania XXIX”

March 25, 2018 • Admin

It was a Brockbuster. Back in 2012, Brock Lesnar returned to WWE after an eight year absence. Now with the skills of a UFC fighter, Lesnar was the unstoppable force who ran roughshod over the company. This included a victory over Triple H at “Summerslam 2012”, but you know Triple H isn’t taking that laying down. And he’s getting that win back on the grandest stage of them all. [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has posted the full version of Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar in a no holds barred match with Triple H’s career on the line. The match saw a variety of interference as Triple H tried to fight off the Beast. This was the second match between the two of them with the blowoff coming the following month at “Extreme Rules 2013”. Don’t remember the show? Here are the full results. Opinion: This still bothers me five years later. The win felt like it was ALL about Triple H instead of making Lesnar feel like a big deal. Throughout the year long feud (started the night after..

March 25, 2018 • Admin

Molly Holly Set to Induct Ivory Into the WWE Hall of Fame

March 25, 2018 • Admin

Molly Holly has been confirmed as the inductor for Ivory into the WWE Hall of Fame in the class of 2018 during ‘WrestleMania’ week. In WWE alone, Ivory was a legend- as Holly will tell you herself. Besides entering the class of 20118 in the Hall of Fame, she was also the WWF Women’s Champion 3 times during her career. Outside of WWE, Ivory has captured gold in Carolina Championship Wrestling, Ladies Sports Club, SuperGirls Wrestling, Powerful Women of Wrestling and Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. She was also inducted into the Women Superstars Uncensored Hall of Fame back in 2011. In her own right, Holly is likely a future WWE Hall of Famer, capturing the WWE Women’s Championship 2 times during her career, with a reign as WWF Hardcore Champion just once. Outside of WWE, Holly was also a Champion in New Dimension Wrestling and World Professional Wrestling Federation before getting inducted into the Women Superstars Uncensored Hall of Fame in 2010, the class prior to Ivory. Over the co..

Ellen and Nikki Bella Team Up to Provide John Cena With the Prom He Never Had

March 25, 2018 • Admin

16-time WWE Champion John Cena was a guest on “Ellen,” where he was scheduled to talk about his upcoming movie “Blockers,” and what it transpired into was something Cena could never have expected. Conversation on the show between Ellen and Cena turned to why Cena hadn’t originally attended his prom. Not satisfied with his reasoning, Ellen decided she would throw the former Champion an impromptu prom. Cena didn’t have long to wonder who his date was for the prom, as his fiance in Nikki Bella had actually teamed with Ellen to appear as his date. You can view the incredible segment below: [This post contains video, click to play] Ellen took to her Instagram account to share a picture of the happy couple dancing from the prom segment. @JohnCena is so big I needed to get him a big surprise. When Will We Find Out Braun Strowman’s Partner?

March 24, 2018 • Admin

It better be worth the wait. With just over two weeks to go before “Wrestlemania XXXIV”, the vast majority of the card is already set. What isn’t set is Braun Strowman’s partner in his challenge for the Raw Tag Team Titles. Strowman has said he has a partner, but when will we find out who that is? Here’s how he got the shot. [This post contains video, click to play] According to 411mania.com, Strowman’s partner might not be announced until “Wrestlemania XXXIV” itself. The match has already been confirmed by General Manager Kurt Angle, who said the match could take place provided Angle could find a partner. Strowman earned the shot by winning a tag team battle royal on his own last week on “Monday Night Raw”. This week, Strowman started going after the champs. Check out the results right here. Opinion: This works for me as a surprise at “Wrestlemania” could be just the right call. Let us see what WWE can put together (though Elias seems to be the most likely choice) as Strowman ..

Wrestlemania IX Review: Why Would Fuji Do That?

March 24, 2018 • Admin

Wrestlemania IX Date: April 4, 1993 Location: Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada Attendance: 16,891 Commentators: Jim Ross, Bobby Heenan, Randy Savage This is one of the weakest cards the series has ever seen. Nothing on the show feels important with the main event of Bret Hart defending the WWF World Title against Royal Rumble winner Yokozuna feeling lukewarm at best. The second biggest match is Hulk Hogan/Brutus Beefcake challenging Money Inc. for the Tag Team Titles. Like I said: not the strongest card. Let’s get to it. Gorilla Monsoon is the host this year, meaning he’ll be on screen for less than five minutes. Like everyone else, Monsoon is in a toga because it’s a toga party. I’m still not sure who thought this was a good idea. In one of the major moments of the show, Jim Ross (JR) makes his WWF debut and talks about the main events before taking his place as lead commentator. I really could have gone through life without ever seeing him in a toga. Finkus Maximus (just go with..

Wrestlemania XII Review: The Impossible Dream

March 24, 2018 • Admin

Wrestlemania XII Date: March 31, 1996 Location: Arrowhead Pond, Anaheim, California Attendance: 18,853 Commentators: Jerry Lawler, Vince McMahon Much like last year, there’s nothing else to talk about besides the main event. This is all about Shawn vs. Bret and they’re not even trying to hide it. The other big match on the card is Diesel vs. Undertaker but it’s so far behind the World Title match that it’s not fair to mention them in the same breath. Let’s get to it. Before we get to the show, here’s a bonus that probably should have been on the main card (at least on paper). Occasionally WWF would air a match on their pre-show (known as the Kickoff Show in modern times) and I’ll include them if they’re available. There were dark matches for years before Wrestlemania would go on the air but this is the first that was actually recorded. Free For All: Tag Team Titles: Godwinns vs. Bodydonnas This is a tournament final for the vacant titles. The Bodydonnas (Skip and Zip, a pair of e..

When Was Daniel Bryan Cleared to Return?

March 23, 2018 • Admin

Yes indeed. In what might be the biggest wrestling story of the year, Daniel Bryan has been cleared for his in-ring return. The news broke earlier this week in a huge announcement, followed by a major speech on “Smackdown Live”. One question has been when Bryan was cleared to return to the ring, and who would know better than him? It’s sooner than you would think. [This post contains video, click to play] In a new video posted to WWE’s YouTube channel, Bryan said that he was cleared on Monday night. This may go a long way to explain the emotion involved in Bryan’s speech, where he talked about following his dreams. The video shows him going through the process of writing his speech, which aired on this week’s “Smackdown Live”. You can read this week’s results here. Opinion: Bryan may not be the biggest guy in the world but he’s one of the best in recent memory at getting the fans to believe in him. He really does come off as one of the nicest guys in wrestling and that means th..

More Details on Greatest Royal Rumble, Including Network Availability

March 23, 2018 • Admin

Well, they are the greatest. Earlier this year, WWE announced the Greatest Royal Rumble, a special taking place in Saudi Arabia. The show will feature a fifty man Royal Rumble plus seven more title matches on the card. Now though, we’re getting a special bonus that could bring in a few more viewers. They did it before, they can do it again. [This post contains video, click to play] According to Jerry Lawler on his “Dinner with the King” podcast, he and Jim Ross will be handling the commentary for the show. The pair were last together at January’s “Raw 25” special. In addition, according to PWInsider.com by way of 411mania.com, the special will be airing on the WWE Network. The show airs on April 27 from Saudi Arabia, with the first show broadcast from the country. Opinion: What a nice little bonus. I know they might not be as good as they used to be, but Lawler and Ross are as good of a commentary duo as there has been in the last thirty years. Let them work some of their magic ..

What Could Be Next for Roman Reigns After “Wrestlemania”?

March 23, 2018 • Admin

One is a Samoan named Joe. In less than three weeks, Roman Reigns faces one of the biggest challenges of his life as he meets Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at “Wrestlemania XXXIV”. While the title change may seem academic at this point, Reigns still needs something to do after the show. We may have a clue what that’s going to be. There’s definitely a history here. [This post contains video, click to play] According to “Wrestling Observer Radio” by way of 411mania.com, Reigns’ next feud after “Wrestlemania” will be against Samoa Joe. The two feuded back in 2017 and were both part of the four way “Summerslam 2017” main event. Samoa Joe has been on the injured list with a foot injury since January. Reigns was busy on Monday, which you can recap here. Opinion: This works for me as these two have had some excellent chemistry in the past. Let them go out there and beat on each other for a few months and the good matches will be academic. If nothing else Reigns has had issues beatin..

Impact Wrestling Results – March 22, 2018

March 23, 2018 • Admin

Impact Wrestling Date: March 22, 2018 Location: Impact Zone, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Josh Matthews, Sonjay Dutt It’s time to find out what happened last week in Feast or Fired. Tonight is the opening of the briefcases and that means three people are getting title shots while a fourth is getting fired. The firing isn’t the biggest surprise in the world but there’s still some interest elsewhere. Let’s get to it. The case holders (Eli Drake, Moose, Petey Williams and Ethan Carter III) arrive as Josh recaps last week’s match. Recap of Feast of Fired. Opening sequence. Here’s Alberto El Patron to say he can fight even if he’s in a suit. He’s ready to fight a real champion in Austin Aries, but Aries doesn’t know who really is the greatest man that ever lived. Cue Aries to talk about how they’re no so different. They’re willing to punch people in the face and they love professional wrestling. Aries is the truth though and the title match is on for Redemption. Alberto says they ..

Could Hulk Hogan Finally Be Returning to WWE?

March 23, 2018 • Admin

It has been previously reported that WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has been ready for a return to the company for a long time. That time may be here before we know it. According to a new report from PWInsider, talks between WWE and Hogan are ongoing for a return to the company. They began several weeks ago. At this time, there is no word yet as to what role Hogan would play for WWE. The company had the following statement regarding the return: “We have had discussions with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan) about how he can help others learn from his mistakes, however, he is not under any contract with WWE.” Hogan was last associated with WWE in 2015. However, following the conclusion of a sex scandal as well as hearing of several racial slurs made on tape, WWE terminated their relationship with the “Immortal One,” and removed all references to him on their website. Editor’s Opinion: If this ends up being a reality, WWE has to be very careful how they handle this. With all of the posit..

March 23, 2018 • Admin

Daniel Bryan was recently interviewed by Al Arabiya English where he discussed a number of topics. Among them were the upcoming “Greatest Royal Rumble,” John Cena, his WWE contract and more. Bryan was recently medically cleared to return to in-ring competition. You can see a video of his speech after he heard the news below: [This post contains video, click to play] Below are some questions along with Bryan’s answers. It should be noted that this interview was conducted before he was medically cleared: What are your thoughts on WWE’s upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia? This is something that I’m really excited about. I don’t know if I’m coming or not, but I’m crossing my fingers that I am coming to the show in Saudi Arabia on April 27th. Wrestlemania is a big event, the biggest event of the year for us, but I think, historically, the show on the 27th might end up being more important, if you look at where WWE’s trajectory goes and our influence on the region. I..
