WATCH: WWE Star Teases Major Turn After SmackDown Goes Off The Air

February 11, 2023 • Admin

That has potential. Every so often, a wrestler will change from good to bad or vice versa. These changes can alter the course of their future as sometimes going to the other side is the right change for them. These changes can be exactly what a wrestler needs at times and we might have seen a big one for an up and coming star after this week’s SmackDown went off the air. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: To The Shelf: NXT Star Reveals Torn ACL, Surgery Scheduled For Next Week The main event of this week’s SmackDown was a fatal four way between Karrion Kross, Madcap Moss, Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio. The match was the first time ever for two latter two to face off in an official match. Following the show, the two met in the locker room, with Escobar talking about how he wanted to take Rey’s legacy. Escobar said that while he still wants it, he also respect Mysterio, and presented him with his mask. Mysterio responded by saying Escobar had told him that story before and then presented Escobar..

To The Shelf: NXT Star Reveals Torn ACL, Surgery Scheduled For Next Week

February 11, 2023 • Admin

That’s a serious one. Injuries can take out any wrestler at any time and you never know when you are going to see someone put on the shelf for a good while. The question becomes just how bad the injury is and how long the recovery time is going to be. This time it seems that an NXT star has suffered one of the more severe injuries that they could receive. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Talk To Me: WWE Introduces New Broadcaster With Independent Background NXT’s Amari Miller has announced that she has suffered a torn ACL and will be undergoing surgery next week. While Miller did not list a time frame for her recovery, a torn ACL normally requires nearly a year of recovery. There is no word on when or how she suffered her injury. Miller made her NXT debut in September 2021 and has mainly competed on NXT LVL Up, though she has occasionally wrestled on NXT as well. I have torn my ACL and getting surgery next week Life happens in the CRAZIEST way. Everything happens for a reason and I totally t..

Talk To Me: WWE Introduces New Broadcaster With Independent Wrestling Background

February 11, 2023 • Admin

He’s in. The broadcast team is one of the most important parts of any wrestling company. The people calling the show are tasked with guiding the fans on the path that the company wants them to take, which can be rather complicated at times. WWE has quite the cast of commentators but every now and then they shake it up a bit. That is the situation again as a new voice is around. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: She’s Back: Former Champion Makes Surprise Return On SmackDown According to Fightful Select, WWE has hired Blake Chadwick to become part of its commentary team. Chadwick will join the NXT LVL Up broadcast team, where he will be paired with Byron Saxton under the name Blake Howard. Chadwick has done commentary on the wrestling independent scene, including with WrestleCade, Camp Leapfrog, VCW and the West Coast Wrestling Connection. He sounds different. She’s Back: Former Champion Makes Surprise Return On SmackDown

February 11, 2023 • Admin

Welcome back. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be difficult for anyone to stand out. Occasionally you will see someone who stands out above the rest and a lot of them are at that level because they have some kind of star power coming in. That is the case with a SmackDown star who made her return after a hiatus in a bit of a surprise moment. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The New Showdown: Interesting Details On Cody Rhodes/Paul Heyman Showdown Ronda Rousey has not been seen since the December 30 edition of SmackDown when she lost the SmackDown Women’s Title to Charlotte. This led to some speculation about her future in WWE and she did not participate in the women’s Royal Rumble. Rousey returned this week on SmackDown, helping Shayna Baszler to attack Natalya. There is no word on when Rousey will be wrestling again. She is a force. The New Showdown: Interesting Details On Cody Rhodes/Paul Heyman Showdown

February 11, 2023 • Admin

They had a different idea. We are less than two months away from WrestleMania 39 and the show’s main event is already set. Cody Rhodes will challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title, a championship that he set his sights on when he returned to WWE last April. The match has already been built, and now we know a bit more about one of the biggest pieces. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: In Advance: Possible Spoiler On Elimination Chamber Title Match This week on Monday Night Raw, Rhodes and Reigns’ advocate Paul Heyman had a face to face showdown, where they talked about their history with Cody’s father Dusty. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the segment that aired was different than the one originally planned. The original segment did not involve Heyman, who was in town because he is part of the creative team for any segment involving Brock Lesnar. Heyman and Cody put together the final segment, which was designed to make Cody vs. Reigns feel like the biggest m..

In Advance: Possible Spoiler On Elimination Chamber Title Match

February 10, 2023 • Admin

They kind of gave it away. We are on the Road To WrestleMania 39 and that means there are a lot of questions that still need to be answered. One of the biggest is who will be defending the titles at the show, some of which are a bit harder to predict than others. Occasionally you will get a hint though and that might have happened regarding an upcoming title match. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Ouch: NXT Star Suffers Detached Retina During Attack Earlier This Week One of the advertised matches for next week’s Elimination Chamber event will see Austin Theory defending the United States Title in the show’s namesake structure. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Theory recently taped a television show, which will not air until March. During the show, Theory was carrying the United States Title. While not guaranteed, this suggests that Theory will either retain the title at Elimination Chamber, or have it in some way when the show airs. There is no guarantee that this will be the ca..

Ouch: NXT Star Suffers Detached Retina During Attack Earlier This Week

February 10, 2023 • Admin

That’s a nasty one. There are all kinds of injuries in the wrestling world and you never want to see any of them happen to someone at any time. They can keep someone out of action for any span of time and unfortunately there is no way to guarantee that they don’t happen. Now another one has happened to a prominent star, but thankfully it might sound worse than it really is. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: From The Man: Undertaker Reveals What He Said To Bray Wyatt At Raw XXX This week on NXT, Ilja Dragunov made a surprise return after missing several weeks of action. Dragunov chased off JD McDonagh, who put him on the shelf in the first place. McDonagh has since posted a photo of his face to Twitter, revealing that he suffered a detached retina in his right eye, which he blames on Dragunov. As a result, he will be missing live events and estimates a 10-14 day recovery time, though he is waiting on a treatment plan. .@WWENXT fans attending Live Events in Tampa/Citrus Springs this weekend – Un..

Impact Wrestling Results – February 9, 2023

February 10, 2023 • Admin

Impact Wrestling Date: February 9, 2023 Location: Osceola Heritage Park, Kissimmee, Florida Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt No Surrender is coming up and most of the card has been set up so far. That includes the World Title match, which has not exactly gotten a ton of hype. Maybe it is because it seems we have another challenger on the horizon, but Rich Swann challenging Josh Alexander isn’t exactly feeling huge. Hopefully they can get some more of it covered this week so let’s get to it. Opening recap. Matt Cardona arrives and says he’s in the main event tonight. He is shown to his private dressing room with champagne and shrimp cocktails, but it turns out this is Joe Hendry’s room. Cardona is shown to a closet instead. No Surrender #1 Contenders Qualifying Match: Brian Myers vs. Dirty Dango They run the ropes to start until Dango armdrags him into an armbar. Myers’ sunset flip is blocked and Dango drops a leg before they head outside. A posting cuts Dango off and of..

Maybe? Here Is CM Punk’s Current AEW Status

February 10, 2023 • Admin

The big return? There were several major wrestling stories last year but the biggest in AEW was the backstage fight after All Out, which resulted in several suspensions. Most of the people involved have since returned to AEW television, save for former World Champion CM Punk. In addition to his suspension, Punk has been recovering from a torn tricep muscle. Now we have a bit better idea about his possible future. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: A Step Up: AEW Announces International Television Deal With ESPN According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Punk is still not cleared to compete. Punk was injured in September and required about eight months of recovery, which would see him possibly cleared to return around May. There is also the suspension, which AEW has yet to lift. At the moment, it is not clear if Punk will ever appear again on AEW television in any form. Punk was rather good while he was around. From The Man: Undertaker Reveals What He Said To Bray Wyatt At Raw XXX

February 10, 2023 • Admin

Words matter. There are certain stars in WWE history who are bigger names than others, to the point where they are deemed legends. Those are the people who are going to get attention no matter what they are doing and it can make a big difference to have them around. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Take Your Time: NXT Star To Miss TV Time After Violent Attack One of the names who appeared at Raw XXX was the Undertaker, who confronted LA Knight and threw him to Bray Wyatt, who left Knight laying. The more the merrier. AEW has shaken up the wrestling world in a variety of ways, including offering all kinds of fresh content to wrestling fans. Take Your Time: NXT Star To Miss TV Time After Violent Attack

February 10, 2023 • Admin

She might need the break. There are a variety of reasons for a wrestler to be off of television and some of them are a lot less serious than others. While there is always the chance that someone is going to be missing due to an injury, there is also the chance that they are going to be gone due to a storyline. The latter seems to be the situation here, as you won’t be seeing a wrestler for a bit. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: A Long Time: Gunther Breaks 18 Year Old Record As Intercontinental Champion This week’s NXT closed with an edition of Bayley’s Ding Dong Hello talk show, featuring Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne as the guests. The door did not open, leaving Dolin bruised, followed by a kick to the face to make it worse. A Long Time: Gunther Breaks 18 Year Old Record As Intercontinental Champion

February 10, 2023 • Admin

That’s a long time. Title reigns can be some of the most important things in a wrestler’s career. If someone holds a championship for a long time, it can make them feel like that much bigger of a star. A wrestler being able to hold onto a championship for several months, if not longer, can be a game changer for them and now someone is doing it for the second time. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: One More: 51 Year Old Former World Champion Announces Planned Return To The Ring WWE has released a video on their YouTube page, announcing that Gunther is now the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of the century. Gunther has held the title for 245 days, breaking Shelton Benjamin’s mark from 2004/5. If Gunther holds the title for three more weeks, he will pass the Rock for the longest title reign since Mr. Perfect in 1990/1. Gunther previously held the record for longest title reign of any kind in WWE this century with an 870 day reign as United Kingdom Champion, which was broken by Roman Rei..

He’s a big one. There are certain wrestlers who get your attention due to nothing more than how they look. Something about them is so striking or imposing that it is impossible to not pay attention to them. That can be rather beneficial to any star and it has been for several over the years. Now one of the more prominent of his generation is looking to return to the ring. They’re Working On It: Multiple AEW Stars Missing From Television For The Time Being

February 10, 2023 • Admin

They’ll be back. AEW has several strengths and one of them is the depth of its roster. The company has so many wrestlers from around the world who are well versed in different styles and techniques, allowing for different kinds of matches. One of the drawbacks of this is having wrestlers miss time due to international issues, which seems to be the case again for several names. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Catch You Later: Former WWE Champion Gone For The Time Being According to Wrestling Observer Radio, several AEW stars are currently missing due to visa issues. This includes both of the Lucha Bros as well as Bandido, who have not wrestled on television since January. There is no word on when they will be back in the ring or on AEW TV. Catch You Later: Former WWE Champion Gone For The Time Being

February 10, 2023 • Admin

He’s out. There have been several World Champions throughout WWE’s history. Some of them have been more successful than others but almost all of them champions are memorable in one way or another. Just being a former title holder means a lot and occasionally WWE will bring one of them back to help someone else. The most recent edition of this experiment seems to be over. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Seth Rollins Seems To Plant Seeds For Rumored WrestleMania Match Back in October, John Bradshaw Layfield returned to WWE as Baron Corbin’s manager. The two have been associated on television since, though Corbin has been on a losing streak in recent weeks. This week on Monday Night Raw, Layfield said that he was done with Corbin and was washing his hands of him. According to PWInsider.com, this was done as a way to write Layfield off of television as he is not scheduled to appear on WWE TV going forward. There is no word on what is planned for Corbin. AEW Dynamite Results – February 8, 2023

February 9, 2023 • Admin

Dynamite Date: February 8, 2023 Location: County Coliseum, El Paso, Texas Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz It’s a title themed show this week as we have two title matches plus a pair of eliminator matches. That should be enough to make for a good night as AEW tends to treat its titles seriously. The build towards Revolution continues and we should be getting some more added to the card. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Maxwell Jacob Friedman vs. Konosuke Takeshita Non-title. MJF’s offer of a handshake is brushed off to start so Takeshita hammers down some right hands in the corner. A knee is blocked and MJF sends him into the corner to take over. We hit the armbar, followed by a hammerlock DDT for two on Takeshita. Back up and Takeshita hits a quick brainbuster for two and a frog splash gets the same. Takeshita traps the legs and hits a Tombstone, followed by a wheelbarrow suplex to send MJF outside. MJF gets in a shot of his own and takes it back inside, with Takeshi..

REVIEW: Elimination Chamber 2022: Now With A Purpose

February 9, 2023 • Admin

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Elimination Chamber 2022 Date: February 19, 2022 Location: Jeddah Super Dome, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Pat McAfee, Byron Saxton, Jimmy Smith We’re back on the other side of the world this time and the card is pretty stacked. There are two Elimination Chamber matches to go with three women’s matches as we get ready for Wrestlemania. That could go in more than one direction and the show seems a bit more interesting as a result. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Miz vs. Rey Mysteri..

WATCH: Seth Rollins Seems To Plant Seeds For Rumored WrestleMania Match

February 9, 2023 • Admin

They’re planting seeds. We are less than two months away from WrestleMania 39 and WWE has already started announcing the card. There have been multiple title matches set for the show, but several matches still need to be made official for Los Angeles. Since it is WrestleMania, a lot of these matches have to be planned far in advance. We may be seeing some of that work being done now. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Checking In: The Miz Set To Represent WWE In Rather Cool Event Seth Rollins appeared on the Pat McAfee Show this week (with his appearance beginning at around 1:39:00) and talked about Logan Paul. He also suggested that Paul would not say anything to his face and does his bragging on social media. Paul eliminated Rollins from the Royal Rumble, which led to speculation of a WrestleMania match between the two, but nothing has been made offic..
