Disney Airs Wrestling Themed TV Show

May 10, 2020 • Admin

When worlds collide. Whether you like it or not, Disney is the biggest entertainment company in the world and nothing is really even close. They own almost every top franchise today and several of the biggest of all time. That makes their stamp of approval all the more valuable and now they are putting some of their focus on the world of wrestling. Or at least something close to it. Wrestling does not have the best history when it comes to depictions on television. Several shows have not presented it in the best light as wrestling is often treated as a comedy performance rather than something serious. This isn’t always the case, and hopefully it is not what takes place when Disney airs a wrestling edition of one of its funnier animated shows. It could be interesting. Check out the trailer for the show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DglXM6nv2xso On Saturday, a new episode of DuckTales aired on Disney XD and featured a wrestling plot. During the show, the main characters are forced..

WWE Looking Into Replacement Fans

May 10, 2020 • Admin

They need to try something else. Wrestling fans are an important part of any show. You need to have people in the stands for the sake of some atmosphere, as a lack of people around makes the show feel less important. That isn’t such an easy thing to do in light of the Coronavirus, but WWE might be forming a plan to remedy this, albeit in a pretty unique way. There have been no fans in attendance for a WWE event for nearly two months. This has never happened in the history of the company and is something that might be the case for a long time to come. It is jarring every time you see WWE on television and it seems that the company knows that is the case. Now, they might be looking for a way to fix it, even though it might not be that normal. The WWE Fan Council has sent out a survey asking a variety of questions, including gauging fan reaction to the idea of having wrestlers in the audience, the inclusion of celebrities, or seeing fan/crowd reactions during matches. Also included are ..

Edge Shot Down Change To End The Undertaker’s Streak

May 10, 2020 • Admin

That’s a different way of looking at things. There has never been anything in wrestling like the Undertaker’s Streak and there never will be again. It is one of the most unbelievable things to ever take place in professional wrestling and it will never be replicated. The night the Streak was broken is one of the biggest shocks in wrestling history, but what if it had happened earlier? The Undertaker’s WrestleMania opponents are a who’s who of wrestling. There are all kinds of Hall of Famers and World Champions included and Undertaker has won multiple World Titles at the show. One of those moments was at WrestleMania 24 when he defeated Edge in the main event. That was another major victory, but it might not have been the original plans. The New York Post interviewed Undertaker’s wife Michelle McCool to promote the Last Ride documentary on the WWE Network. During the interview, McCool mentioned that the original plans called for Edge to end the Streak in 2008 at WrestleMania 24. In re..

Major League Wrestling Fusion Results – May 2, 2020

May 9, 2020 • Admin

Fusion #108 Date: May 2, 2020 Location: Auditorio de Tijuana, Tijuana, Mexico Commentators: Rich Bocchini, AJ Kirsch MLW took over the Super Series last week and this time around it’s Injustice’s chance to win some titles. The big main event is for the AAA Trios Titles, which could be a heck of a match as Injustice can do well in the ring. I’m not sure what to expect from this show but it should be rather energized. Let’s get to it. Injustice knew they’d get here and they’re ready to win some gold. Opening sequence. Black Destiny/Fantastick/Rayo Star vs. Mocho Cota Jr./Tito Santana/Carta Brava Jr. This is not part of the Super Series. Destiny and company have an unnamed woman with them. And no it’s not that Tito Santana. Cota and company headscissors the other three to the floor setting up the triple dives to put everyone down. Fantastick hurricanranas Brava into the corner as commentary doesn’t seem to know who is who. A Code Red gets two on Santana and it’s Cota coming in to dro..

Two Matches Added To Money In The Bank

May 9, 2020 • Admin

There’s always room for two more. We are less than two days away from Money in the Bank and as usual, the show is going to be a little different than most due to the amount of people involved in the two namesake matches. That kind of setup can make for some strange cards due to the lack of wrestlers available elsewhere. There are still wrestlers out there though and some of them have been added to the card. One of the advantages that WWE has over so many other wrestling promotions is the depth of their talent pool. While other companies have incredibly talented wrestlers, no one has as many talented wrestlers as WWE. They have a mixture of past, present and future stars and that can make for some interesting combinations. Some of those combinations will be on display Sunday night. Two more matches have been announced for the Money in the Bank card. First up, Jeff Hardy will face Cesaro on the Kickoff Show. Hardy has not wrestled since the March 13 SmackDown, though he appeared on thi..

WATCH: Men’s 2017 Money within the Bank Ladder Match

May 9, 2020 • Admin

A precursor to the throne. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match from 2017. The match featured Baron Corbin, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, and Shinsuke Nakamura. You can see the match in its entirety below: From WWE.com: There was Owens annihilating everyone in sight with a ladder … until Zayn tossed him so emphatically onto said ladder that it crumpled. There was Zayn battling through Ziggler to get within arm’s length of the contract … until Corbin smashed him headfirst into the ladder he was trying to summit. There was Ziggler literally climbing over Corbin to make a play for the briefcase, Zig Zagging him off the rungs and fighting his way through Styles to scale the steel … until Zayn sunset-flipped over him and powerbombed him down to the canvas. There was Zayn again, suplexing Owens onto the apron, only to eat a Phenomenal Forearm that toppled both him and the ladder he was half..

Backstage News on Money In The Bank 2020: Storylines, Taped Money within the Bank Match, More

May 9, 2020 • Admin

This coming Sunday, WWE will present its annual Money in the Bank pay-per-view. However, it will be the most unique in history as both the Men’s and Women’s Money in the Bank matches will take place at Titan Towers and will occur at the same time. According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Money in the Bank match was actually taped during the week of April 13. Also, it was previously reported that the matches will be running throughout the show, and will be shown in between the matches that are taking place in the Performance Center. As was shown on Raw, Apollo Crews suffered an injury after qualifying for the Money in the Bank, causing AJ Styles to return and take his place after winning a gauntlet match. The newsletter states that this was always the plan and that Crews’ injury is part of a storyline. Check out Styles’ return to Raw this past week: Editor’s Opinion: I would think that they would have taped this in advance so that there would be time..

REVIEW: WrestleMania 24: I’m Sorry, I Love It

May 9, 2020 • Admin

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Wrestlemania XXIV Date: March 30, 2008 Location: Citrus Bowl, Orlando, Florida Attendance: 74,365 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, Jonathan Coachman, Joey Styles, Tazz This is one of those shows that doesn’t get as much attention as it should so it was time for a fresh look. It’s from one of the forgotten periods of the company’s history as things were mostly good, but this era really runs together for me. This show is well received and kind of a hidden gem though so let’s get to it..

Kevin Owens Suffers Knee Injury, What We Know So Far

May 3, 2020 • Admin

It happens to everyone. You never know when someone might get hurt in wrestling. There are some that you can see happen and others were it is not clear until further examination. The wrestlers themselves know what is going on though and sometimes they instantly can tell if something is wrong. That might not come out until later though, and that appears to be the case this time. It is pretty safe to say that WrestleMania 36 was the most unique edition of the show ever. There was every little about it that felt like a traditional WrestleMania and it is something that will be remembered for years to come. While the show itself was strange, there were some WrestleMania moments which will stand out, though one of them came during a match that saw an injury take place. Kevin Owens was recently interviewed by RDS (Quebec sports website) and, translated by 411mania.com, mentioned that he suffered a knee injury at WrestleMania 36 during his match against Seth Rollins. Owens underwent an x-ray..

Paul Heyman Helping Becky Lynch In A Unique Way

May 3, 2020 • Admin

He would know how to help. There are very few names in wrestling today who are considered as influential as Paul Heyman. While that level of influence might vary depending on the person, a lot of fans see him as one of the great geniuses of wrestling and someone who knows how to help develop characters. That is what he is trying to do again, albeit with someone already very established. Last year at WrestleMania 35, Becky Lynch defeated Ronda Rousey and Charlotte to become undisputed WWE Women’s Champion. She has since lost the SmackDown Women’s Title, but her Raw Women’s Title reign has gone on over a year now. Lynch is still one of the biggest stars in all of WWE, but Heyman has been helping her with one of the more important parts of her game. According to Wrestlingnews.co, Heyman has been helping Lynch with her social media posts over the last several weeks. This includes suggesting things for Lynch to tweet during feuds, several of which Lynch has used. There is no word on which..

You Might Not See The Usos For A Long Time

May 3, 2020 • Admin

When one goes down, the other is hurt as well. Tag teams are a weird case in wrestling as what happens to one can often affect the other. That can be a major problem when someone gets injured, as there might not be anything left for them to do. If you have a team where a replacement partner isn’t exactly an option, an injury is some horrible news. I think you know where this is going. The SmackDown tag team scene has been reignited in recent weeks, with teams like the Forgotten Sons and the Lucha House Party being added to Miz and John Morrison, plus the constant of the New Day. You might notice a team missing from the ranks though and that is due to someone getting injured, which is going to cause a problem for both himself and his partner. According to Ringsidenews.com and confirmed by F4WOnline.com, Jimmy Uso has suffered a knee injury and will be out of action for six to nine months. The injury is believed to have taken place at WrestleMania 36, when he took part in a three way l..

Big Update On Zack Ryder And Curt Hawkins’ Post WWE Futures

May 3, 2020 • Admin

So it’s over? Back in April, WWE released an unprecedented number of wrestlers, shaking up their roster in a bigger way than they ever have before in a three day span. Some names were not the most surprising, but others blindsided the fans as they were not names you would have expected to be let go. That made people wonder what was next for them, and now we know what is not next for two such names. Two of the names released from WWE were Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder. Those were somewhat surprising given that the two of them had won the Raw Tag Team Titles about a year earlier at WrestleMania 35. It was a huge fall for the two of them over the years year and ended a ten plus year run with the company for Ryder. The team was now gone from WWE and they may be gone for good. On Saturday, Matt Cardona (Ryder) took part in a live Q&A on his Instagram page. One of the questions involved him teaming with Brian Myers (Hawkins), which Ryder said would not be happening. The two of them did want ..

Becky Lynch Appearing In Marvel Cinematic Universe Film

May 3, 2020 • Admin

The rise continues. Every few years, you will see a wrestling star who rises up to the top of the company and show almost no signs of slowing down. It can be fascinating to watch, but it can be equally interesting to see where things go once those stars get that high up. Some things are going to change, and that might be the case for one of the biggest stars in WWE today. Over the last year and a half, no one has risen up the ranks faster or harder than Becky Lynch. She has gone from a star in the division to the biggest star in the history of women’s wrestling. Lynch is one of the top stars in WWE over a year into her Raw Women’s Title run and that might be the case for a very long time to come. People outside of WWE are noticing too and it could be a huge deal. According to Variety’s Kris Tapley, Lynch is going to have a part in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. The specific movie or part is not mentioned, but Marvel has six films scheduled to be released in the next two..

WATCH: AJ Styles vs. Roman Reigns From Payback 2016

May 2, 2020 • Admin

Let the dream matches continue. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between Roman Reigns and AJ Styles for the WWE Championship from Payback 2016. You can see the match in its entirety below: From WWE.com: The Chicago crowd was electrified from the moment The Phenomenal One’s music blared throughout the Allstate Arena. Styles appeared to be at a disadvantage early, as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion powered out of his first attempts to gain the upper hand. The No. 1 contender adjusted his game plan on the fly, targeting the champion’s legs with precise kicks and forcing Reigns to regroup at ringside. The tenacious Styles goaded the proud champion into chasing him around the ringside area, stomping Reigns into the canvas. However, The Phenomenal One, perhaps a bit too eager, started trading blows with the larger champion and ended up eating a huge shoulder tackle from Reigns. The champion saw an opening and took it, using his stren..

WATCH: AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura From Money within the Bank 2018

May 2, 2020 • Admin

When amazing competitors compete, it’s a special thing. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full Last Man Standing Match between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship from Money in the Bank 2018. You can see the match in its entirety below: From WWE.com: The weeks leading up to the bout had seen Nakamura take up rent-free residence in Styles’ head; each of his sinister eccentricities was enough to send The Phenomenal One flying into a fury. So, it was natural that Styles came out swinging, though he ended up expending so much energy that Nakamura was able to turn it around and notch some early counts from the ref. The King of Strong Style was also the first to lean into the more extreme elements of the match, taking the fight outside of the ring each opportunity he had. Speculation had focused on how far Styles was willing to go to retain his title; for a while, it seemed like the more pertinent question might have been how m..

New Title Match Set For Money In The Bank

May 2, 2020 • Admin

The card keeps growing. We are less than two weeks away from Money in the Bank and that means we are going to be seeing a lot of people in one match at the same time. With a rather insane twelve people involved in two matches at the same time, the match is going to be all over the place. It’s also not going to be the only match with a ton of people fighting at once. Things have been picking up in the SmackDown tag team division as of late with some new teams getting in on the situation. There are suddenly a handful of teams coming for the titles and that makes things a bit more interesting. This includes some newcomers, and that means we are going to be seeing some fresh matchups. One of those will be taking place at Money in the Bank. WWE.com has announced a fatal four way for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles for Money in the Bank. The match will see the New Day defending against the Forgotten Sons, Lucha House Party and the Miz and John Morrison. This comes the day after the Forgotten..

REVIEW: AEW Double Or Nothing 2019: I’d Take That Bet

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Double or Nothing Date: May 25, 2019 Location: MGM Grand Garden Arena, Paradise, Nevada Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, Alex Marvez It took long enough. This is the first show for All Elite Wrestling and the question is….egads there are a lot of them actually. The biggest of them all though is can they live up to the hype. All In certainly did, though that’s not exactly the same thing this time around. I don’t know if the show is going to be good (though it probably will be), but it’s going to be i..

Jim Ross Moving To Make AEW Dynamite Return

May 2, 2020 • Admin

That’s some serious dedication. AEW has not been around that long and need all of the big helps that they can get. Anything that they can do to get fans’ attention, while still being positive of course, is a good thing and that is what they had with some of their earlier hires. The spread of the Coronavirus kept one of those hires away from the company, though now things might be changing. Aside from Chris Jericho, there is no bigger name in AEW than Jim Ross. While he is on the lower side of his career after all these years, Ross is still someone the fans are familiar with and he offers a certain feeling of nostalgia for a lot of fans. At the same time though, Ross is still a solid lead commentator today and a pretty good one at that. Now though, you are going to get to hear him more often. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ross is moving to Jacksonville until at least May 27 for the sake of avoiding having to fly from his home in Oklahoma to Jacksonville for AEW telev..

Details On Why Curtis Axel Was Released

May 2, 2020 • Admin

There’s your explanation. I don’t remember the last time things were moving so fast in WWE. You have so many wrestlers moving on and off of the roster and that is the kind of thing that can cause some problems. There were several wrestlers released from the company in a large group, but another was let go later in the month. Now we might have an idea why. Earlier this week, Curtis Axel was released from WWE. This came after the other large group of releases, though it seems to be the only release taking place at the moment. Axel has only wrestled on television once this year, appearing in a short loss to Daniel Bryan on the February 28 SmackDown. That wasn’t exactly the most promising sign for his future and it was more suggestive than we knew. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, part of the reason why Axel was released was due to his age. Axel is forty years old and has not done anything significant in WWE in years. With his lack of success in recent years and age, there..
