REVIEW: Summerslam 2015: He Tapped

August 3, 2021 • Admin

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Summerslam 2015 Date: August 23, 2015 Location: Barclays Center, New York City, New York Attendance: 15,702 Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield, Jerry Lawler I barely remember anything about this show save for the two main events. It really is amazing that these shows have just stopped standing out aside from Wrestlemania. Unfortunately we’re at the point where Summerslam is now a regular four hour show because three hours of pay per view plus five hours of TV a week and a two hour NXT show the nigh..

VIDEO: Cool Moment Takes Place After Monday Night Raw

August 3, 2021 • Admin

That’s pretty cool. There have been a lot of changes to WWE over the last few months but the most important is the return of live fans to the company’s events. For the first time in far too long, WWE has people watching them and that is the kind of change that can make a lot of improvements for the company. Now we are getting back to normal and that meant something special. WWE has posted a video to its YouTube page showing what happened after this week’s Monday Night Raw went off the air. Following Nikki Ash defeating Charlotte to end Monday Night Raw, Ash went into the crowd to celebrate. New Day then came to the ring for the show’s dark match main event, but first danced with Ash in the ring. According to PWInsider.com, New Day defeated MVP and Bobby Lashley in the dark match. It was quite the night. Check out what happened after the show, plus what the people involved did during the night: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [T..

WATCH: Nia Jax Badly Busted Open During Monday Night Raw

August 3, 2021 • Admin

Ouch. Wrestling is a physical sport and that can cause problems every now and then. You can see all kinds of injuries take place in wrestling at any time and they can come in a few different ways. Some of them are going to be a lot more obvious than others and you can tell what happens almost immediately. That was the case this week and it was a pretty nasty incident. Nia Jax was cut open during this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw. During a match with Rhea Ripley, Jax was elbowed in the face next to her left eye, drawing blood. The bleeding got worse throughout the match, ultimately causing the entire side of her face to be nearly covered in blood. Jax was able to finish the match, with Ripley winning and attacking Jax again after the match was over. There is nothing to suggest that Jax will miss any time. It was a nasty cut. Check out two looks at the match, plus how karma might be catching up with Jax: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click..

VIDEO: WWE And AEW Star Get Together In Unique Situation

August 3, 2021 • Admin

When worlds collide. The wrestling world has changed quite a bit thanks to the rise of AEW. The new promotion has shaken up the industry by adding a new place for all kinds of wrestlers to showcase themselves. That has not been the case for a very long time now and several wrestlers have already jumped over to the new place. A wrestler from both companies came together for a pretty unique moment. WWE’s John Cena and AEW’s Miro were both in attendance for the premiere of The Suicide Squad. Cena, a co-star of the movie, appeared in the full costume of his Peacekeeper character, hugged Miro and introduced him to his wife. The two chatted for a few moments about something that could not be heard. Cena returned to WWE last month at Money in the Bank and Miro, the reigning AEW TNT Champion, debuted with the company in September 2020. Miro and Cena had a long feud in WWE, with Miro defeating Cena in a United States Title match at Fastlane 2015. Cena came back to win the rematch at WrestleMa..

Huge Title Match Set For WWE Summerslam

August 3, 2021 • Admin

There’s your other big one. We are less than a month away from Summerslam and the top of the card is starting to come together. The show is going to be one of the biggest shows of the year, if not the biggest of them all. As a result, WWE is going to want to load the card up like no other. They took another big step towards doing just that this week on Monday Night Raw. During this week’s Monday Night Raw, WWE Champion Bobby Lashley accepted Goldberg’s challenge for a title match at Summerslam. Lashley had ignored the challenge in previous weeks and did so again this week. After Goldberg left the ring, Lashley’s manager MVP yelled at Goldberg’s son. As a result, Goldberg speared MVP, which caused Lashley to accept the challenge. This will be Goldberg’s second shot at the title this year, as well as his second match of the year, as he unsuccessfully challenged Drew McIntyre for the title at the Royal Rumble. Goldberg is a four time World Champion, including three reigns in WWE. His mo..

Another Long Term Name Quietly Leaves WWE

August 3, 2021 • Admin

One more for the road. The WWE roster has been changing all over the place in recent months and there is nothing to suggest that all of the moves are done. These changes have made for some very interesting shifts, including some names finally being let go after years with the company. There are some who were surprises for another reason, such as fans realizing they still worked for WWE. We seem to have another case like that. According to PWInsider.com, JoJo Offerman quietly left WWE several months ago. Offerman was brought in for the first season of Total Divas but mainly worked as a ring announcer. She did wrestle a handful of matches, most prominently teaming with the other Total Divas to defeat the True Divas at Survivor Series 2013. Offerman has been in a relationship with Bray Wyatt for several years, giving birth to a son and a daughter in the process. You might have forgotten her. Check out some of Offerman’s time in WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [This pos..

Bray Wyatt: Heading To Another Company, Or Heading Home?

August 3, 2021 • Admin

Bray Wyatt’s WWE release came as a shock to many pro wrestling fans. While those same fans are obviously very aware of the company’s penchant for talent releases, this one was different. The reason for that is due to the man behind the character. Windham Rotunda brought the Bray Wyatt persona to life in 2012 and when he did, he completely changed the game. His dedication to the character, combined with his unmatched creativity, ensures that he will find his way moving forward. But what is Rotunda moving toward? That’s currently the question that many are asking and with good reason. The most logical answer seems to be AEW. After all, Tony Khan’s company appears to be a great place for Rotunda, both from a financial and creative standpoint as well. 205 Live Results – July 30, 2021

August 3, 2021 • Admin

205 Live Date: July 30, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Vic Joseph We seem to be getting back into the standard operating procedure with this show and that is kind of an annoying situation. It means that we are going to be seeing a lot of the same stuff over and over again with some different faces. The show is far from awful, but it’s forgettable, which might be worse. Let’s get to it. Grayson Waller vs. Ikemen Jiro The watermelon jacket is back this week. Waller actually shakes hands but then begs off as the fans chant for the jacket. Some knees to the ribs and a shoulder put Jiro down but he’s right back with a running hurricanrana. Waller is knocked outside so Jiro joins him only to be dropped…face first on the floor, though I think Waller was aiming for the apron. Back in and Waller clotheslines him down hard as the aggression continues. Jiro comes right back with a spinwheel kick and some shots to the face. The Tarantul..

August 3, 2021 • Admin

Monday Night Raw Date: August 2, 2021 Location: Allstate Arena, Chicago, Illinois Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton So remember last week when Nikki Ash got beat up by Charlotte but didn’t lose the Women’s Title? Then she talked about how she got close and wanted to do it again? Well tonight is her chance to prove that she is ALMOST good, because that’s the best we’re getting these days. Oh and Goldberg, because of course. Let’s get to it. Here are MVP and Bobby Lashley for a chat. MVP is glad to have the fans back and knows they are all excited to see Goldberg. A few weeks ago, Goldberg challenged Lashley for the WWE Title but Lashley has yet to acknowledge the challenge. Goldberg is a legend who can destroy any man on any night, but Lashley is not just any man. MVP asks how Goldberg wants to….and here’s Goldberg to cut him off. Goldberg asks Lashley what kind of a gladiator he is. The first time Lashley saw Goldberg, Lashley thought he was a victim. Fans: “WE W..

Update On Becky Lynch’s WWE Return

August 2, 2021 • Admin

Mark your calendars. There are certain names in WWE who are bigger stars than others. Sometimes you can see their star power rising and then get to see them realize their potential. August 2, 2021 • Admin

Impact Wrestling Date: July 29, 2021 Location: Skyway Studios, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Matt Striker, D’Lo Brown We’re back with more Bullet Club Civil War this week as Jay White’s Japanese contingent doesn’t think much of the Elite. That contingent might have gained someone new in Chris Bey this week, which could make for something interesting going forward. White felt like a star last week and hopefully he can keep that up this time. Let’s get to it. The opening recap looks at Jay White showing up and going after the Elite, with Chris Bey saving him to end the show. Scott D’Amore has something big planned for tonight but says everyone is asking him for something. Tommy Dreamer comes up to ask about the #1 contendership but D’Amore walks away on the phone. Good Brothers vs. Chris Bey/Jay White Non-title. White and Anderson start things off with the feeling out process until White chops away in the corner. Bey comes in for the kicks to the ribs into a nice dropkick. Ander..

August 2, 2021 • Admin

Make it bigger. WWE is the most powerful wrestling promotion in the world and that means a change can have a profound impact on wrestling. Some of these things are better than others but in this case, it can mean changing up something that has been the same for a good while. WWE already ha a lot of television options, but now we might be seeing something happen again. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE once considered adding a third hour to SmackDown. The third hour would have aired on Fox Sports One from 10pm – 11pm EST, though nothing ever came of it. Former WWE World Champion May Be Back With Company Soon

August 2, 2021 • Admin

That’s some good business. The big WWE story of the year continues to be wrestlers being let go from the company for one reason or another. The main reason for all of the departures so far has been budget cuts, which have been the primary justification given for most of the cuts. Some of the names were very surprising, but at least one of them might be on his way back. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is interested in bringing back Braun Strowman, albeit at a lower price. Strowman, a former Universal Champion, was one of several wrestlers let go from the company on June 2 of this year. He was reportedly making over million dollars a year, which led to his release. There is no word on how much lower his new offer would be or if Strowman is interested in returning. Strowman was certainly an attraction. August 2, 2021 • Admin

Welcome back? There are all kinds of different matches in the wrestling world and some of them are a lot more unique than others. You don’t get to see all of them every week as it could get dull in a hurry. Sometimes a promotion finds a match that it only busts out in extreme situations, with WWE being no exception. One such match be making it’s return soon. In a new interview with El Brunch de WWE, Jinder Mahal discussed the history of the Punjabi Prison match. Mahal mentioned that Great Khali designed the match and then appeared to help Mahal win his edition of the match against Randy Orton at Battleground 2017. While Mahal said that he did not want to have too many matches inside the structure, he did want to face Drew McIntyre in such a match. No match between the two has been announced as of yet, though they are feuding. The Punjabi Prison match consists of a pair of cages made of bamboo surrounding the ring. A series of doors can be opened, allowing a wrestler to move from one ..

Can you blame them? The biggest wrestling story over the weekend was WWE releasing Bray Wyatt. VIDEO: New Day Reunion With Very Special Guest Star

August 2, 2021 • Admin

He’ll get them cheering. Celebrities have been a big deal in wrestling for a very long time now and that is always going to be the case. Fans are going to react to someone not involved in the wrestling world making an appearance, especially if they are some kind of a local celebrity. Athletes certainly fit the bill and that was the case this week when WWE rolled into town. Bobby Portis of the new NBA Champion Milwaukee Bucks appeared at a WWE live event over the weekend. Portis appeared with the New Day during the show and was holding the custom WWE Championship sent to the Bucks by Triple H. Following a staredown with Bobby Lashley, Portis got into the ring to celebrate with New Day. Portis did not get physical in any way during the appearance. Later in the night, Portis thanked WWE for letting him get involved. This is pretty cool. It is incredibly frustrating at times, but it happens to every wrestler at one point or another.
