Ring Of Honor TV – January 26, 2022

Ring Of Honor Date: January 26, 2022 We took a little detour last week into the history of the women’s division but this time around we should be back to normal. Well, at least as normal as you can get while the company is on hiatus and we’re looking at the Best Of Ring of Honor. That could mean a few things, but odds are we’ll be seeing more of the recent stuff. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Narrator Ian Riccaboni welcomes us to the show, where we will be going back to Final Battle in December 2021. TV Title: Dalton Castle vs. Rhett Titus vs. Joe Hendry vs. Silas Young Castle is defending and it’s one fall to a finish, with Castle bailing to the floor to walk into the crowd. Hendry gets taken outside so Young can send him into the barricade. Back in and Castle t-bone suplexes Young, meaning it’s time for a lap around the ring. Titus comes in for a quick rollup but gets sent outside for an apron flip dive from Young. Hendry blasts Titus with a clothesline but gets belly to be..

KB’s Review: Rumble Vision

I’ve been a wrestling fan for a pretty long time now and I’ve seen quite a bit of the sport over the year. This includes all kinds of wrestling from around the world, including reviews of over 6,000 shows. There isn’t much I haven’t seen in one form or another, but there are certain things that I keep coming back to in one way or another. In less than a week, we will be back to it again, and this time I’ll be there in person. This weekend is the Royal Rumble, and this week we’ll be taking a general look at the match and talking about why it works as well as it does. Scott Hall once called the battle royal the easiest match to explain to a non-wrestling fan. There’s nothing about a pin, a submission, grabbing a contract or a wrestler beating a ten count. You have thirty people in the ring and the last one left inside gets a prize. That doesn’t require a history of watching wrestling or any kind of a backstory. It’s literally a big free for all where the last person standing wins. That’..

Stick Around: Former AEW Champion Signs New Deal

Stick around for awhile. AEW has come a long way in just over three years of existence. There have been a lot of wrestlers who have appeared for the company in that time, but there has been a group who have been around since the beginning. That is not the biggest surprise, but the question becomes how many of them are going to stay around for the long term. Now we know another one who will be sticking around. According to PWInsider.com, Frankie Kazarian has signed a new contract with AEW, though there is no word on how long the new deal will last. Kazarian was one of the first signings for the company and, along with Christopher Daniels as SCU, held the AEW Tag Team Titles, marking the first reign in the titles’ history. He most recently appeared last week on Dynamite, losing to Lance Archer. Opinion: Keeping Kazarian around is certainly a good thing, as he is the kind of wrestler who can work well with anyone. That is a very valuable person to have around, as he can be a star in his..

Ring Of Honor TV Results – January 19, 2022

Ring of Honor Date: January 19, 2022 We’re still on the road to April and that means it’s time for another Best Of show. These things have mainly been the Best Of the last year and it would be nice to see something different showcased. That being said, we are just over two months away from the relaunch so you might not want to go too deep into the vault. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Quinn McKay…is not here this week, as we will be looking at the women’s division. We get a video on the women’s division and what it means to everyone involved. Maria Kanellis-Bennett is ready to interview various women in the Women’s Title tournament. She has done a little bit of everything and now she is part of the Board of Directors. After the Coronavirus pandemic hit, she wanted to build something new and that is what she is doing here. Some of the women in the tournament are very happy that they were given their Ticket To Gold, meaning their entrance to the tournament. Being in the tournam..

Details On Newly Announced Wrestling Hall Of Fame

They have the people. There are all kinds of championships and accomplishments that a wrestler can win, but unlike most other sports, those titles can be lost. A wrestler will be able to be known as a former champion, but there is something special about not having the ‘former” part attached. There are not many honors that last forever, but now one promotion is trying to do something about that. Ring of Honor has announced the creation of its own Hall of Fame, with the first inductee being announced next week. After that, there ill be a new inductee announced every Tuesday in February. There is no word on when the first induction ceremony will take place. Ring of Honor debuted in February 2002 and will be marking its 20th anniversary, though the company is currently on hiatus and expecting to return in April. Opinion: The first thing that came to my head was “how does Ring of Honor NOT have a Hall of Fame yet?” What makes Ring of Honor that much more interesting is how many different..

WATCH: Possible Seeds Planted For Monday Night Raw Debut

That’s how you start. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and some of them are part of the company’s official developmental system in NXT. That can make for some unique situations, as there are some wrestlers who do not seem to need developing and could hang on the main roster the day they sign. One wrestler who arguably fits that description might have planted the seeds for his main roster debut. WWE has posted a video from backstage at this week’s Monday Night Raw showing Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode running into NXT’s LA Knight. Roode and Ziggler mock Knight for not being on the right show, with Knight responding that the two of them can come see him any Tuesday night. The three also talked about the importance of the Royal Rumble, though there is nothing to suggest that Knight will be involved in the match at this point. Knight has been part of NXT just shy of a year ago and is a former Million Dollar Champion. Prior to the start of this stint in NXT, Knight wrestled..

Get Well Soon: Bad Injury Update On NXT Star

It can happen to anyone. As bad as it sounds, the reality is that injuries are one of the few universal problems for any wrestler. You never know when you might see someone get hurt and that is never a good thing to see. Unfortunately you can see someone get hurt at any time and they can be on the shelf for a good while. That is the case again, and now it is not sounding like the best news. This week on NXT, Vic Joseph announced that Odyssey Jones had suffered a ruptured patella tendon. Jones has already undergone surgery to repair the injury, which will put him out until the fall. The injury took place during a match on a recent 205 Live taping, which never aired. Jones’ most recent televised match took place the December 28, 2021 edition of NXT. Opinion: This is one of those things that happens on occasion, but it doesn’t make the situation any better. Above all else, what matters most is Jones getting back to full healthy. He was showing a lot of potential before he was put on the..

Update On WWE’s WrestleMania Weekend Plans, Possible New Scheduling

Get your calendars ready. We are less htna three months away from WrestleMania 38 and the preparations for the show have already begun. There are a lot of moves that still need to be made to make it the biggest wrestling weekend of the year, but some of those changes have nothing to do with WrestleMania itself. WWE offers quite a few other things over the weekend and now we know some more about two of the bigger ones. Earlier this week, it was announced that WWE would be presenting both NXT Stand & Deliver and the annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony over WrestleMania weekend. According to PWInsider.com, there have been discussions to hold NXT Stand & Deliver on Saturday April 2 as a matinee show before the first night of WrestleMania 38. There is no word on where the event will be held. In addition, also according to PWInsider.com, the potential plan for the Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be aired after the April 1 SmackDown on Peacock and the WWE Network, though there is no..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Celebrity Plans At Royal Rumble And WrestleMania 38

It’s not permanent. Celebrities have a long history in the WWE, as a good portiton of the original WrestleMania was built on the celebrity involvement. The tradition continued for years to come and is still a big deal today. Sometimes you see celebrities get in the ring, which can make for some interesting moments. That seems to be the case again, but it will not be something you should get used to seeing. As previously announced, actor Johnny Knoxville will be competing in this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, Knoxville’s appearance will be a one off and he is not expected to be back for any more appearances, including WrestleMania. At the same time though, WWE is planning on having another celebrity appearance for WrestleMania, though the person is not yet known. Source states Johnny Knoxville’s Royal Rumble involvement is slated to be Rumble only & done on Saturday. However, WWE is indeed working on another celebrity appearance for Wr..

NXT Results – January 25, 2022

NXT Date: January 25, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett It’s the go home show for the Royal Rumble and I don’t think that is going to mean much for most of the people around here. NXT is in a different world than almost anything that happens on the main roster and in a way that’s a good thing, as they can do some positive stuff on their own. Let’s get to it. MSK is next to the Dusty Cup and ready to win it again. Now they know what it takes to get back to the top of the mountain thanks to Riddle, but DON’T TOUCH THE CUP! Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First Round: Jacket Time vs. MSK Carter and Kushida start things off with neither being able to get anywhere. It’s off to Lee, who immediately gets punched down by Jiro. Jacket Time takes him into the corner to start up the beating and it’s a double bulldog to give Kushida two. Jiro gets taken down in the corner though and it’s Carter hitting a Bronco Buster, which the fans ..

Backstage WWE Speculation About Major Royal Rumble Return

Welcome back. The Royal Rumble is a lot of things, and one of the most important is a way to bring back former wrestlers. With sixty spots to fill over two matches, there are a lot of places to bring back wrestlers who have not been around for a long time. It can be even better if it is someone who has had some success in WWE before, and that might be the case with a surprise return. According to Fightful Select, there is a belief among some wrestlers backstage that Asuka will be making her return to action at the Royal Rumble. However, this has not been confirmed and is still seen as speculation. Asuka has not wrestled since Money in the Bank in July due to an injury and it is not known if she has been medically cleared to return to the ring yet. Opinion: That would be a pretty awesome moment as Asuka is one of the better wrestlers in all of WWE. She is a former Royal Rumble winner and would instantly be one of the top possible winners this year. If nothing else, it would be great t..

WWE Considering Bringing Back Series Of Live Events

It could help things a lot. NXT is in a weird place as it is the official WWE developmental territory, but also airing on national television every single week. That makes things all the more complicated as the wrestlers are not exactly able to get a chance to hone their skills. What they need is more ring time and a chance to learn in front of some smaller crowds. WWE used to have that kind of an option and now they migth be bringing it back. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is considering bringing back NXT live events. WWE stopped running such events in March 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. There is no word on if this will be back on a nationwide scale or just in Florida. Should it be Florida, WWE would only be running events in small venues, with around 200 seats at any given venue. Opinion: This is exactly what a place like NXT needs. Getting their rookies out there with about five minutes a week isn’t going to help them, but putting them in the ring for ten minut..

Another WWE Name Requests Release After Long Run With Company

He isn’t a fan either. The WWE roster has changed so much in recent years that it is hard to keep track of where everyone is going. That is not exactly a great thing to see, as several wrestlers are going all over the place, with most of them making their way out of the company. Some wrestlers have even done this by choice, and that seems to be the case again with another veteran. According to PWInsider.com, Brian Kendrick has requested his release from WWE. Kendrick has been working as a coach and occasional wrestler, though he has not wrestled a match since October. He had been scheduled for a match against Harland in NXT but the match never took place. Kendrick has reportedly requested his release from the company for the last six weeks. Kendrick has wrestled on and off for WWE for several years in multiple stints. He is a former Tag Team and Cruiserweight Champion who has most recently wrestled on 205 Live. His most recent run in WWE began when he took part in the Cruiserweight C..

WWE Star May Be Returning From Injury Sooner Than Expected

Welcome back. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling and it is never good to see someone be put on the shelf. The fun part is seeing the wrestlers making their return though, and sometimes that can happen sooner rather than later. Thankfully that seems like it will be the case later this week, and it is something that is happening a bit earlier than expected. According to PWInsider, King Woods is expected to return to the road with WWE starting this week on SmackDown. Woods has been out of action for several weeks with a calf injury, which was scheduled to keep him out of action for four to six weeks. At the moment, it is not expected that Woods will return to the ring immediately and it is not clear when he will have his next match. Opinion: It’s great to hear that Woods is back on his feet sooner than later. If nothing else, it will be nice to have him there to do some more of the talking, as he tends to shine with everything that he does on the microphone. I doubt he makes i..

Game Changer Wrestling The Wrld On GCW Results

The Wrld On GCW Date: January 23, 2022 Location: Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City, New York Commentators: Dave Prazak, Kendall Gill Hosts: Lenny Leonard, Pollo del Mar Every now and then a show catches my attention and I’ll add it to the schedule. That is the case here, as GCW has become the hottest indy around at the moment and I’m going to give it a shot. I am absolutely not a fan of the deathmatch stuff, but apparently that kind of wrestling is not allowed in New York so we get a bit of a reprieve here. Let’s get to it. Note that I barely follow GCW so I am not going to know much in the way of storylines or characters so please bear with me if I miss something. Kickoff Show: Blue Ribbon Battle Royal Psycho Clown, Dark Sheik, Cole Radrick, Parrow, Hoodfoot, Ruckus, Charles Mason, KTB, Juicy Finau, Steve Scott, Nate Webb, Big Vin, Brandon Kirk, Janai Kai, Dustin Thomas, Marcus Mathers, Yoya, B-Boy, Lufisto, Thunder Rosa Clown jumps Parrow before most of the entrances have taken..

REVIEW: Royal Rumble 2016: One vs. All

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Royal Rumble 2016 Date: January 24, 2016 Location: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida Attendance: 15,170 Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield, Byron Saxton Now this one actually has my interest for a change. A year ago, WWE decided that the right idea was to have WWE World Champion Roman Reigns fight everyone in a single match for the title. This is completely different as now he fights everyone for the US Title. Anyway, the whole thing is about the main event, as it should be, so let’s get to it. Pre-S..

WATCH: This Year’s WWE Rumble By The Numbers Video

It’s that time of year. The Royal Rumble is coming up at the end of the week and that means it is time to get on the Road to WrestleMania. There are still several steps left to cover though and the Royal Rumble is one of the biggest. The show has been around for thirty four years now and we will be seeing another edition soon. However, there is still time to take a look back at Rumbles past. WWE has released its annual Rumble By The Numbers video. The video looks at a history of the Royal Rumble with a series of statistics, including the total number of entrants in the matches’ history, as well as a look at the winners’ success rates at WrestleMania. As was the case last year, WWE released the video on its YouTube channel rather than on one of their television shows. This is always special. Check out this year’s edition: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I look forward to this every year as there is something very cool about seeing this kind of a statistical break..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Possible Signs Of Another Impending WWE Departure

So long and farewell? There have been so many changes to the WWE roster in recent years and some of the biggest have been in NXT. The NXT roster has been ripped apart and there is almost nothing left from the show’s most famous stretch. These changes have not exactly stopped and now another longstanding NXT name might be on his way out. We might even have some evidence. According to Wrestlingnews.co, there is a chance that Roderick Strong may be on his way out of NXT. Strong and his wife, former NXT star Marina Shafir, have opened a Pro Wrestling Tees store. In addition, Strong has been losing most of his matches as of late, with his most recent victory taking place at NXT WarGames on December 15. This is seen as speculation at this point, though NXT has released wrestlers o little notice in the last year. Opinion: The more I think about it, the more I think Strong might be on his way out. At the end of the day, Strong is 38 years old and doesn’t exactly fit the mold that WWE wants. ..

More On Potential Huge Royal Rumble Return, Possible WrestleMania Match

She could be useful. WrestleMania 38 is less than three months away and WWE is in a bit of a weird predicament. The company has let a lot of wrestlers go and as a result, there are not very many huge stars on top of the lineup. WWE needs to come up with something to make it work out, and one of the best options might be bringing in outside help. That seems to be the case, and now we might know some more about the plans. Earlier this week, a report came out that WWE is hoping to bring back Ronda Rousey, with a return at the Royal Rumble being a possibility. According to Wrestling Observer Live, Rousey is scheduled to be at the Royal Rumble and will set up her WrestleMania 38 match. There is no definitive word on what Rousey would be doing at either show and WWE has made no reference to her. Rousey made her debut at the 2018 Royal Rumble and went on to make her in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34 later in the year. Over the course of her WWE career, she would win the Raw Women’s Title at ..

Several New Names Announced For Royal Rumble

The field keeps getting stacked. The Royal Rumble is less than five days away and that means WWE has a lot of spots to fill in and not much time left to do it. There have been a lot of names set already but WWE likes to wait until the very last minute to make some announcements. That was the case again this week, as some more names were added to the fields. WWE has announced that seven more names have been added to the men’s Royal Rumble field. Before this week’s Monday Night Raw went on the air, WWE tweeted that the following names had joined the match: Omos Randy Orton Riddle Chad Gable Otis Dolph Ziggler Robert Roode With these new additions, there are twenty two out of thirty entrants announced for the men’s match. At the same time, there are also twenty two entrances set for the women’s edition. There is no word on if any more names will be announced. Who just declared for the 2022 30-Man #RoyalRumble Match?! ?@TheGiantOmos @RandyOrton @SuperKingofBros @WWEGable @otiswwe @HEEL..
