That doesn’t sound good. There have been so many wrestlers throughout the years and some of them have become names that are known to most wrestling fans. It can be interesting to see what they are doing after they leave the ring, though that does not necessarily mean it is a good thing. That seems to be the case again as a legend has shared some bad news. Wrestling legend Virgil has revealed that he has received bad news regarding his health. Virgil revealed on Twitter that he has suffered two major strokes and has been diagnosed with an early form of dementia. Backstage News On Vince McMahon Ordering Recent WWE Name Changes

It’s a change. A wrestler’s name is their identity, as a change can mark a huge shift in everything about them. The right or wrong name can make all the difference in the world to a wrestler and that is still the case today. Sometimes you see someone’s name changed to something else and that has been the case a lot as of late in WWE. Now we know the thinking behind the changes. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon has sent out a memo to WWE talent, saying that he does not want them using their real names or the names they used before coming to WWE. This explains name changes to Raquel Gonzalez (now Raquel Rodriguez), Marcel Barthel (Ludwig Klaus) and Raul Mendoza (Cruz del Toro). The rules apply to new talent debuting and will not result in established names being changed. There might be a place for him. Wrestlers have a lot of things to cover every time they are in front of an audience. While the focal point is going to be in the ring, there are other things that need to be done as well. One of the most important is the ability to talk, as fans need a reason to care about someone. Now we might be seeing a new talker coming up to the main roster soon. According to PWInsider.com, NXT’s LA Knight appeared in a dark segment before this week’s edition of SmackDown. Knight appeared in a suit and announced that he was creating Knight Model Management as a manager rather than a wrestler. He introduced Mace as his first client and helped him defeat Erik. This is seen as a tryout for a potential managerial role for Knight on the main roster. Opinion: While I’m disappointed in Knight only being brought up to the main roster for his talking abilities, it’s better than having him languish down in NXT any longer. WWE Roster Reportedly Worried About More Releases

They have reason to worry. One of the biggest wrestling stories over the last few years has been the amount of releases WWE has made. Hundreds of wrestlers have been let go from the company over the last two years, which has completely reshaped the way the company works. The releases have come out of nowhere and now they might be coming up again for some of the remaining wrestlers. According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, several WWE wrestlers have been concerned about possible upcoming releases, possibly as soon as Friday. There were no releases announced on Monday and a WWE higher up said that they did not know of any that were upcoming. WWE has not released any names since January when they let several NXT trainers go from the company. I know a lot of people have been concerned about "WWE release day" today, including much of the talent. Two To One: Huge Title Match Officially Set For WrestleMania Backlash

That’s the big one. We are on the way to WrestleMania Backlash and that makes for a tricky build. With WrestleMania out of the way, it is time to start doing things a little bit differently and WWE needs to come up with a way to make that work. Sometimes they try something a little out of the ordinary and that seems to be what they are doing with a title match that is doing something different. This week on SmackDown, a Tag Team Title unification match between Raw Tag Team Champions RKBro and SmackDown Tag Team Champions the Usos was officially announced. Last week, Roman Reigns ordered the Usos to bring him the Raw Tag Team Titles, prompting the Usos to go to Monday Night Raw and start the feud with RKBro. This will be the first time that there has been one set of men’s Tag Team Titles in WWE since 2016. Opinion: This is something that is long overdue as there is no reason for two sets of Tag Team Titles in WWE. There is barely enough challengers for one set so putting them together..

WWE Star Begins A New Career This Week On SmackDown

It’s a gig. Being in the WWE is the pinnacle for a lot of wrestlers as it is the highest profile wrestling promotion in the world. Getting to be on one of WWE’s television shows means that you have done something right in your career and are pretty far ahead of a lot of wrestlers. However, it can be difficult to get television time, but now someone else is getting a chance in a different way. This week’s edition of SmackDown featured Drew Gulak auditioning to be a member of the broadcast team, including a backstage interview, plus an interview in the ring with Charlotte. During the Charlotte interview, Gulak suggested that Ronda Rousey made her tap out at Wrestlemania, causing Charlotte to put him in the Figure Eight until Gulak tapped out and screamed that he quit. There is no word on if this is an angle or Gulak switching to a new role in WWE. Last week saw Shinsuke Nakamura come after Roman Reigns to suggest that he is the next challenger while Charlotte vs. Ronda Rousey in an I Quit match is officially set. AEW Signs Top Independent Star, Debuting This Weekend

Welcome to the team. There are a lot of wrestlers on the AEW and WWE rosters, but there are several who are not signed to either of the major promotions. That means there are several stars out there that one of the promotions would want to sign. It is a big deal when one of them signs, and that seems to be the case again with one of the biggest named out there. According to Fightful Select, Ring Of Honor World Champion Jonathan Gresham has signed a contract with AEW and will be working for Ring Of Honor. Gresham is currently scheduled to defend his title against Dalton Castle on Saturday at Battle of the Belts II. There is no word on when Ring Of Honor will run its next event, after it returned from hiatus on April 1 with Supercard Of Honor. Welcome back. You never want to see an injury in wrestling. It might be major or minor, but there is nothing good about someone getting hurt. An injury can shake up a wrestler’s career for a long time and the question becomes how long it can be before they return to the ring. That was the case again earlier this year, and now we might have an answer to that question. Back on January 5, Rey Fenix suffered an arm injury during a match on an episode of AEW Dynamite. Fenix has not wrestled since, though AAA has posted a tweet saying that he will be at TripleMania XXX Part 1 on April 30. Who’s #1: WWE’s Internal Rankings Of Monday Night Raw Women’s Division

They have a list. WWE’s women’s division has come a very long way in the last several years. After spending so much time as little more than eye candy, women’s wrestling has become a major part of WWE’s presentation, with several wrestlers being able to make their mark on the company. Some of the current group have done so more than others and WWE has put them in a list. Earlier this week, a report surfaced revealing the internal list of WWE’s male stars. Now, a similar list has been revealed, according to PWInsider.com. The six main women on the Monday Night Raw roster have been sorted into a babyface and heel group. In descending order, Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss and Rhea Ripley are listed as the top babyfaces while Becky Lynch, Carmella and Queen Zelina are listed as the top heels. Opinion: That is quite the interesting list, though it tells me that Monday Night Raw needs some stronger heel women. International Star Says He Doesn’t Have The Urge To Wrestle Anymore

Maybe not? Wrestlers are like any other athlete, in that at some point they are not going to compete any longer. The end of their career can be something sad to see, but it is going to happen to everyone at some point. Some wrestlers get to leave on their own terms and it is great when someone gets that luxury. That seems to be the case for someone else, at least from their current promotion. New Japan Pro Wrestling star Juice Robinson appeared on Wrestling Observer Live and announced that his New Japan contract is expiring on April 30 and he will not be wrestling for the promotion any longer. Robinson said that he wants to relax for a bit rather than wrestle somewhere else, though he did say that he does not have the urge to wrestle anymore. There is nothing to suggest that this means Robinson, 33, is ready to retire. NXT UK Date: April 14, 2022 Location: BT Sports Studios, London, England Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Andy Shepherd We’re in an interesting place here as this is one of the few shows without a title match over the next few weeks. Instead we have A-Kid vs. Teoman in a match that should be worth a look and some other stuff that should work out as well. This kind of show tends to work well for NXT UK so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Coffey Brothers vs. Dave Mastiff/Jack Starz Joe and Mastiff collide to start but the shoulders don’t send either of them anywhere. Mastiff tries it again to some more success before bringing in Starz. This doesn’t go as well as Joe takes him into the corner for the tag to Mark and some arm cranking. A double atomic drop sets up a backbreaker for two but Starz manages a dropkick. Joe gets driven into the corner for a change and the tag brings in Mastiff. It’s his thing. AEW has done a lot of great things for the wrestling world and one of the best has been the introduction of new stars. The company has allowed some stars to get their first shot on a national stage and that has opened several eyes. Some wrestlers have done better than others with their chance and now one of them is getting to do his thing completely outside of the ring. AEW’s Darby Allin has released a video on Twitter showing him putting another man through a table at a Ludacris concert earlier this week. Allin attacked the other man and then splashed him onto a table, though he needed to do it twice to make the table break. WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE’s Future Plans For Roman Reigns As World Champion

He’s the future. We are freshly into the unofficial new season for WWE as WrestleMania 38 has come and gone. The main event of the show saw Roman Reigns defeat Brock Lesnar to unify the WWE Championship with his own Universal Championship to become Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. This extends Reigns’ time as champion to nearly 600 days and that number could grow. According to Wrestlingnews.co, there are no plans for Reigns to lose the title anytime soon. Reigns has been Universal champion since August 30, 2020, making him the fifth longest reigning World Champion in company history. There has been speculation that Reigns will hold the title through next year’s WrestleMania, which will allow WWE to discuss him as the greatest star of all time. There is no word on who Reigns will face, though WWE is hoping that they will be able to get the Rock for the match. That’s what’s next. WWE is in the beginning of an unofficial new season as WrestleMania 38 has come and gone. That means things are starting to pick up a little bit as WWE is trying to go with some new stories and ideas. Some of these ideas can be rather fascinating and interesting, though it depends on what they are going to be doing. Now we might have an idea of what WWE is planning. WWE has announced some of the lineups for their upcoming European tour. The announcement includes three matches over the course of four shows from April 28 – May 1 in England, France and Germany. What could be. There are a lot of things going on in the wrestling world and some of them are the kind of things that make a big impact in the future. You don’t see that kind of thing happen very often but when they do, it means a shakeup on a high level. We might be seeing something like that again, assuming that some speculation is what we are going to see next week. This week on AEW Dynamite, a preview for next week’s episode revealed that AEW President Tony Khan would be having a major announcement. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer suggested that the announcement could be either a streaming deal for AEW or a broadcast deal for Ring of Honor Wrestling. AEW has not given any suggestion of what the announcement will be.
