NXT UK Results – May 5, 2022

May 11, 2022 • Admin

NXT UK Date: May 5, 2022 Location: BT Sports Studios, London, England Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Andy Shepherd We’re back to the title picture this week with Meiko Satomura defending the Women’s Title against Isla Dawn in a World of Darkness match. I’m not sure what that means but NXT UK has enough of a track record that I can believe they’ll pull it off. On top of that, we get more of the build towards next week’s 200th show. Let’s get to it. Lash Legend arrived earlier today and conscripted Emilia McKenzie to take care of her bag. Opening sequence. It’s time for Supernova Sessions, this time in the ring. Noam Dar says this is the first edition of Supernova Sessions 2.0, which makes me scared for this place’s future. This week’s guest is international superstar Lash Legend and, after taking some time to get her seated, Dar gives her something resembling a plant. Hold on though, as Samuel Sha brings in a much nicer bouquet, which she puts in the Heritage Cup. Legend rhymes ab..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE May Be Planting Seeds For RKBro Split

May 11, 2022 • Admin

That would be a moment. Tag teams have a bit of a strange history in WWE, as the company almost seems to put them together for the sole reason of splitting them up. While it might not work every time, there are moments where the idea is quite the success. Now WWE may be planting the seeds for the split of one of the most popular teams the company has seen in quite some time. This week’s Monday Night Raw featured Raw Tag Team Champions RKBro successfully defending the Tag Team Titles against the Street Profits. During the match, Riddle accidentally took out Randy Orton with a mistimed RKBro. According to Wrestlingnews.co, this may be the beginning of a split between the team. In addition, following the show, the team appeared on Raw Talk, where Orton brought up Riddle using his RKO finisher and suggesting that he wanted Riddle to stop. Orton said that he needed to keep the RKO and said he might have Riddle use the Bro Derek again. Opinion: This would not surprise me in the slightest a..

DiBiase Family Facing Civil Lawsuit Over Huge Embezzlement Scheme

May 11, 2022 • Admin

I guess that’s the price. Wrestlers are larger than life characters who get to appear on television and try to convince fans that everything they are seeing is real. That can often cause the lines between reality and fantasy to blur, but these same wrestlers have problems that they have to deal with just like regular people. That is the case again, as a wrestling family is having to face some legal issues. Back in 2020, Brett DiBiase, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase, pleaded guilty to taking part in the largest embezzlement scheme in the history of Mississippi. Ted’s Heart of David Ministries is alleged to have received $2.1 million from the state as part of the scheme, though Ted did not face any criminal charges. According to 411mania.com, the state of Mississippi has filed a civil lawsuit against 38 people, including the DiBiase family, alleged to have been part of the scheme or received some of the funds. The DiBiase family has not commented on the lawsuit. You can see th..

WWE Offers Explanation For Recently Released Star

May 11, 2022 • Admin

So that’s where he went. One of the more surprising stories of the last few weeks has been WWE’s latest batch of releases. While WWE releasing names might not be a surprise, some of the names who were let go night have been. There were a few names who left the company despite being in the middle of a story. Now we have a storyline explanation of where they went. One of the names released from WWE on April 29 was Dexter Lumis, who had been a regular in NXT before he was let go. Lumis had been in a storyline marriage to Indi Hartwell, who is still with the company. This week on NXT, Toxic Attraction was talking to Hartwell and mentioned that Lumis left her. No more details were given and Lumis’ name was never used. Opinion: As simple as it is, I kind of like the explanation being so simple. It wraps things up for Lumis and Hartwell while being the kind of emotional moment that could get Hartwell some sympathy. Lumis looks like a jerk, but he isn’t around any longer to have that mean an..

Update On The Future Of Edge’s Judgment Day Stable

May 11, 2022 • Admin

Join the club. There have been all kinds of stables in WWE history and some of them have been a lot more successful than others. They are the kind of thing that can do a lot of good things for several people at once and that makes them all the more interesting. WWE has a few of them going at the moment and now one of them might be about to get another member added. Back at WrestleMania 38, Damian Priest joined forces with Edge in a new team. The group would later become known as The Judgment Day, with Rhea Ripley being added to the team at WrestleMania Backlash. According to PWInsider.com, there has been talk of adding a fourth member to the team, though no name was mentioned. When the stable was originally considered, Ciampa was mentioned as a possible member along with Ripley but he has not yet joined the team. There is no word on if he still will in the future. Opinion: I’m not sure what is going to happen with the team but they have done well enough so far. What matters most is t..

WATCH: Former WWE World Champion Debuts Very Different Character

May 11, 2022 • Admin

Mix it up a bit. There are a lot of ways to present a wrestler and most of them have been done before. That is not necessarily a bad thing as you will often see something that you have seen before. What matters is finding the right person to use that gimmick and make it work as well as possible. Now we might be seeing someone else try something that has been done, at least under the same name. Adam Scherr, formerly known as Braun Strowman in WWE, has posted a new video to Twitter, showing him holding a blade and saying “why so serious”. The line is from the movie The Dark Knight, where it was said by the Joker. This could be a new character that Scherr is using in Control Your Narrative, or perhaps in another promotion. There is no word on Scherr debuting for another major company. It’s a different way to go. Check out what Scherr is doing: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I’m not sure what Scherr is doing here, but maybe he is playing off of the idea of the Joker..

WATCH: Wrestling Legend Singing At A Bar After Horrible Health Issues

May 11, 2022 • Admin

That’s a great thing to see. There have been a lot of wrestlers throughout history and several of the legends are still around today. It can be rather sad to see them go through one issue after another, especially when health comes into play. That has been the case with one of the more famous tag wrestlers in recent months but now we have a very good update. Back in November, wrestling legend Brian Knobbs of the Nasty Boys was hospitalized with several health issues. Knobbs had been undergoing issues with his stomach and had suffered a fall which resulted in some broken bones. He has since lost 60 pounds and is said to be in better health. A video has now been uploaded to Twitter, showing Knobbs at Hogan’s Hangout in Tampa, Florida, where he sings the theme to the Wonder Years. Hulk Hogan and his daughter Brooke can be seen watching in the background. This is pretty cool. Check out Knobbs looking better: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Knobbs looks a heck of a lo..

NXT Results – May 10, 2022

May 11, 2022 • Admin

NXT Date: May 10, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph While things should have changed last week with NXT Champion Bron Breakker beating Joe Gacy at Spring Breakin, Gacy’s minions beat Breakker down and kidnapped him. Since wins and losses don’t matter around here, Gacy vs. Breakker continues while the women’s Breakout Tournament begins. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of last week’s title match, plus the post show beatdown and Gacy and Company taking Breakker into a field with a sack of his head. They seem to leave him there as Gacy is all nutty. Women’s Tag Team Titles: Toxic Attraction vs. Roxanne Perez/Wendy Choo Toxic Attraction is defending. Choo dives in off the top from behind to take the champs down and it’s Perez starting with Jayne. That’s fine with the champ as Perez gets sent into the corner, allowing Jayne to grab a headlock to keep her in trouble Jayne makes the mistake of talking too much trash thoug..

Opinion: The One To Defeat Roman Reigns

May 10, 2022 • Admin

It’s no secret that WWE has considered Roman Reigns their top superstar for several years. He has headlined several Wrestlemanias, won multiple championships, and has been involved with every significant storyline in the company’s recent history. That has been amplified during the COVID-19 pandemic; in the Thunderdome era, he became allied with Paul Heyman and had a fantastic feud with his cousins, The Usos. As a result, the Bloodline has become the most dominant faction in professional wrestling. Reigns is the longest reigning Universal Champion of all time, the Big Dog, the Tribal Chief, the Head of the Table, The One, and in my opinion, has established himself amongst the greatest of all time. I lump him in with Stone Cold Steve Austin, the rock, Triple H, the undertaker, John Cena, Randy Orton, and others of that caliber. He is that good. However, as we know, all things and professional wrestling must come to an end, and at some point, he will lose the universal championship. But..

WATCH: WrestleMania 38 Rematch Takes Place After Monday Night Raw

May 10, 2022 • Admin

There is more to it than that. WWE presents a lot of wrestling content every week, including three hours every Monday night with Monday Night Raw. That means you are going to see a lot of wrestlers on any given show, with some of them often appearing more than once. This was the case this week, as two stars got to do even more after the show was over. The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw was a Champions Contenders match between Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and Asuka. Belair won when Becky Lynch interfered, followed by Lynch attacking Asuka to end the show. The post show dark match saw Belair defeat Lynch to retain her title with the KOD. Belair defeated Lynch to win the title in the same way at WrestleMania 38. Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch is the post-show dark match! #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/U4aBRmgbc7 — Graham "GSM" Matthews (@WrestleRant) May 10, 2022 This was cool. Check out how the match ended: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: It’s always sm..

They Do Have A Plan: Update On WWE Tag Team Title Unification Match

May 10, 2022 • Admin

They do have a plan. There are a lot of titles in WWE at the moment and that can cause some issues as having too many people carrying championships can water down their status. That seems to be the case again in WWE, at least in a certain division, so WWE seems to be doing something about it. At least in theory that is, as they might have a way out of the change. One of the original main events for WrestleMania Backlash was to have seen Raw Tag Team Champions RKBro vs. SmackDown Tag Team Champions the Usos in a title unification match. The match was eventually changed to a non-title six man tag, though RKBro mentioned the match again on Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania Backlash. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is still planning to have the match, but no title change is planned, meaning some sort of no contest or double countout/double disqualification is expected. There is no word on when the match will take place. Opinion: I would like to believe that WWE has something..

Roman Reigns Signs New WWE Deal, Not Wrestling Nearly As Often

May 10, 2022 • Admin

That’s the future? There has not been a star like Roman Reigns in WWE in a long time. Reigns is coming up on two years as Universal Champion and his title reign has been one of the most dominant in WWE history. WWE has turned Reigns into the face of the company and they have been very successful with him on top. That just might not be the case as frequently going forward. Over the weekend, Reigns gave a speech at a WWE live event, suggesting that he will not be around as much going forward. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Reigns has signed a new deal with the company, which will include far fewer dates. In addition, according to PWInsider.com, Reigns is currently not advertised for any WWE TV taping beyond June 24, though he is scheduled for Money In The Bank on July 2 and Summerslam on July 30. He is also advertised for Clash At The Castle in September, two live events in October and Survivor Series in November. Opinion: I don’t think there is a huge surprise in the idea that..

VIDEO: Roman Reigns Suggests He Won’t Team With The Usos Again

May 10, 2022 • Admin

No more? There are quite a few families throughout wrestling history and some of them have some rather positive reputations. A big wrestling family can be incredibly successful with one member after another achieving success. That is the case with some modern wrestling families, but it seems that you might not be seeing one of them teaming up again very often. The main event of last weekend’s WrestleMania Backlash saw the Bloodline, comprised of Roman Reigns and the Usos, defeated Drew McIntyre and RKBro in the main event. Following the win, Reigns posted a video to his Instagram page, talking about the team’s future. Reigns suggested that it would be the last time the three of them would team together in a six man tag. According to Reigns, it was only the seconds time that the three man version of the team had wrestled a televised six man tag. This could mean a few things. Check out what Reigns had to say: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: These Reigns stories are..

REVIEW: Hell In A Cell 2017: The Shane McMahon Does Something Stupid Show

May 10, 2022 • Admin

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Hell in a Cell 2017 Date: October 8, 2017 Location: Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, Michigan Commentators: Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton, Corey Graves It’s time for the Shane McMahon Does Something Stupid Show. The main event tonight is Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens inside the show’s namesake structure as Shane fights to defend his family’s honor. Other than that we have the Usos challenging the New Day for the Tag Team Titles inside the Cell too. Let’s get to it. On the Kickoff Show, Tye Dillinger mentions to Daniel..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Using Old Crowd Footage For Unrelated Matches

May 10, 2022 • Admin

They really need that? WWE has been around for a very long time now and has put on more events and shows than anyone could reasonably count over the years. That means there have been all kinds of moments throughout the years, some of which are all time classics. WWE loves to look back on its own history, and that is what they are doing again, but with a not that normal twist. According to Wrestlingnews.co, WWE is using old footage for their modern video packages. This includes using footage from John Cena returning as the Dr. of Thuganomics in 2012 as part of a package on Madcap Moss vs. Happy Corbin from WrestleMania Backlash, and footage from the Eddie Guerrero tribute show as part of a Stephanie McMahon segment on WWE Evil. There is no word on how many more times WWE has done something like this. During the Madcap Moss/Corbin video recap, WWE used crowd shots from 2012 from John Cena’s return as the Dr. of Thuganomics. They have been doing more of this lately. pic.twitter.com/Vg2v..

Switch Em? SmackDown Star Might Have Been Sent To Monday Night Raw

May 10, 2022 • Admin

Welcome to your new home? The Monday Night Raw and SmackDown rosters are designed to be unique, but at times they seem to be closer to a single unit as wrestlers jump back and forth. It can make for an interesting moment when you see someone show up from the other side, which seems to be the case again, as a SmackDown star has appeared on Monday Night Raw. Over the last several weeks on SmackDown, Lacey Evans has presented a series of vignettes talking about her life and the troubles that she has gone through on her way to being a WWE star. She made her return to the arena last week but did not wrestle on the show. This week, Evans appeared in a pre-taped segment on Monday Night Raw, which featured a combination of the five previous vignettes combined. Evans did not appear in the arena or before the fans. There is no word on if this means that Evans is now officially a part of the Monday Night Raw roster. Opinion: I’m not sure how this is going to work, but at the end of the day, Eva..

Time For A New Career: WWE Star Loses Her Job This Week On Monday Night Raw

May 10, 2022 • Admin

Put it on the resume. There are a lot of ways to present a wrestler in WWE as there are several roles they can fill. What matters is finding the right fit for every wrestler and that can be rather difficult to do. Some wrestlers have strengths in certain areas and now one wrestler is going to be moved to another spot, where she happens to be rather skilled as well. Over the last few weeks, WWE official Sonya Deville has been under an official investigation by WWE higher ups. This week saw the results released, which declared that Deville had abused her authority, causing her to be fired from her role. As a result, Deville will be wrestling full time, which included a loss to the returning Alexa Bliss. Deville had been in her authority position since January 2021. Opinion: This is a move that has seemed to be coming for a few months now and it makes sense to shift Deville back into the ring full time. She can still do her talking and it isn’t like there is a need for Adam Pearce to ha..

Alexa Bliss Returns On Monday Night Raw

May 10, 2022 • Admin

She’s back! Tonight on Raw, Alexa Bliss made her return to television after being away for several months. She would be the mystery opponent for Sonya Deville, whom she defeated in somewhat of a squash. You can see the return and the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] Bliss was last seen on WWE programming at the 2022 Elimination Chamber premium live event back in February. She would eliminate Liv Morgan but then be eliminated herself by Bianca Belair. Alexa returned with what appeared to be her ‘Little Miss Bliss’ gimmick that she has used for the majority of her time in WWE. Since July 2020, she had been playing a supernatural character, that had been manipulated by ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt. Sonya Deville was in a state of shock for this match, as she had just been fired as a WWE official by Adam Pearce. She still remains an in-ring performer, however. Editor’s Opinion: YES! Alexa Bliss has always been one of my favorite performers in the com..

AEW Wanted To Run Two HUGE Tournaments

May 10, 2022 • Admin

They had a different plan. Tournaments are a common idea in wrestling and something that can be used to quite the success. There is something so simple about putting a bunch of people into a field and seeing who comes out on top in the end. You can see all kinds of tournaments today and we almost saw another one, albeit not one that you see very often around here. Back in March, AEW began holding qualifying matches for the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournaments, which will officially begin later this week. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the original format would have been a round robin style tournament with all eight participants in each field facing each other once. However, this was seen as impossible due to time constraints. The finals of both tournaments will take place at Double Or Nothing. Opinion: I know this might not have been what AEW wanted to do but the single elimination format works a lot better. With so many other things going on, having a tournamen..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – May 9, 2022

May 10, 2022 • Admin

Monday Night Raw Date: May 9, 2022 Location: XL Center, Hartford, Connecticut Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We’re done with Wrestlemania Backlash and now it is time to start getting ready for Hell In A Cell. This means that we are likely in for MORE rematches, as WWE continues to get more time out of their one set of ideas. Not much happened last night on the Raw side, but Cody Rhodes’ rise continues. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of last night’s main event, with Roman Reigns pinning Riddle so the Bloodline could beat RKBro/Drew McIntyre. Here is RKBro for a chat. Randy Orton talks about how they came up short last night, but that was just a battle and they will win the war. The original plan was for a Tag Team Title unification match, but Roman Reigns cut that off because he knows the Usos can’t beat RKBro. That’s why they’re going to Smackdown this week and DEMANDING that Reigns allow the match. If Reigns doesn’t say yes, it shows how little he beli..
