NXT Live Coverage And Results – September 8, 2020

•

NXT Date: September 8, 2020 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett, Beth Phoenix It’s time for the sequel to last week’s four way Iron Man match with Finn Balor vs. Adam Cole for the NXT Title. This could be a classic, but it could also be a way to set up a title match at Clash Of Champions as well. Call it a hunch, but one more Sorry, But Your Champion Is On The Next Show wouldn’t surprise me. Let’s get to it. Quick recap of last week’s Iron Man match. NXT Title: Finn Balor vs. Adam Cole The title is vacant coming in and they’re not wasting time tonight. After the Big Match Intros, it’s a battle over a headlock to get things going. Cole takes him down into an armbar but Balor reverses into one of his own and slaps on a headscissors on the mat. That’s broken up and Cole hits a basement dropkick, followed by some chops against the ropes. The fireman’s carry backbreaker gets two on Balor and we take a break. Back with Balor working..

Backstage News On Why The IIconics Were Split Up

•

The surprise explanation. There are times where WWE presents an angle or plot point that changes something in a hurry and it doesn’t make the most sense. That can be a good or a bad thing given the circumstances, but unfortunately it tends to be the latter more often than not. There was a rather surprising change this week on Monday Night raw and now we know why. During this week’s Monday Night Raw, the IIconics lost a match to the Riott Squad where the winners received a future Women’s Tag Team Titles. However, the losers were forced to disband forever, meaning the IIconics are no more. They have been together for a long time now and even knew each other from their high school days in Australia. The team is now done, and as random as it seemed, WWE has their own reason. According to PW Insider Elite Audio, the IIconics were split up for the sake of pushing Peyton Royce as a singles wrestler. The plan had always been to push Royce on her own and WWE is deciding to pull the trigger no..

WWE News: Finn Balor Wants To Form A Dream Team

•

Holy dream team! Tag team wrestling has rarely been WWE’s strong suit. Yes they had a great run back in the 1980s, but other than that and the period of Edge and Christian, the Hardys and the Dudley Boyz, there have not exactly been a lot of great times for WWE’s tag team divisions. They have a tendency to group big names together as bigger tag teams, which one wrestler is teasing doing again. While it has died down a bit in recent years, there was a time when the Bullet Club was the hottest group in professional wrestling. The team went from a group of wrestlers in New Japan Professional Wrestling to one of the biggest things around, to the point where they had quite a bit to do with the rise of AEW. Over the years, the stable has had quite a few members, but now two of them may be up for a WWE reunion. Finn Balor was recently interviewed by CBS Sports where he mentioned a potential tag team with AJ Styles. Balor spoke about his respect for AJ Styles but said that their scheduled ha..

New WWE Signings Receive Different Kind Of NXT Contracts

•

The more things change. Wrestling is a weird sport as you never know how things are going to go from one day to the next. What might be a longstanding tradition could change almost overnight, or things that change on a regular basis could suddenly become the standard. That makes for some rather interesting moments and WWE is changing something new about NXT. Earlier this week, news broke about WWE signing a group of five wrestlers who had all worked for Evolve Wrestling before the company had folded. That was quite the new batch of talent and that is something you don’t get to see show up every single day. This time around though the new signees might be in for something that previous groups who came into WWE might not have experienced. According to PWInsider Elite Audio, the newer WWE contracts are now for six months trial periods for lower pay rather than the traditional contracts. It is not clear what has caused the changes, but NXT wrestlers are not currently working their usual ..

VIDEO: Released WWE Wrestler Wins Major World Title

•

And then things changed. The wrestling world is changing in a big way these days and that has caused some rather fascinating changes throughout a variety of companies. That isn’t the kind of thing that you see very often and some of the changes have been better than others. One of the biggest was WWE releasing dozens of wrestlers in a few days back in April, many of which have found work elsewhere. One has made it to the top of another company in a hurry. While AEW seems to be the most desired destination for a lot of wrestlers, there are other companies that can seem rather intriguing for some of the people looking for work. Some former WWE stars have been successes elsewhere before and in this case, one recently released WWE star has found his way back to another promotion and is already doing rather well there. This week on Impact Wrestling, Eric Young won the World Title by defeating Eddie Edwards. Young was released from WWE in April and made his return to Impact Wrestling at Sl..

Renee Young Reveals WWE Heat Over Coronavirus Diagnosis

•

Are you surprised? The Coronavirus has changed the way a lot of things work in wrestling, including having everyone associated with wrestling and the wrestling companies having to do a variety of things to keep the virus from spreading throughout the company. This has gone fairly well in WWE over the last few weeks, but there was a bit of an outbreak over the summer. Some wrestlers made their situation public and that did not go well. Back in August, Renee Young confirmed that she was leaving WWE after an eight year run with the company. It was a pretty big loss for the company as Young can do almost everything asked of her and that is the kind of thing you can’t get from almost anyone else most of the time. Young was in the news again earlier this year due to announcing her Coronavirus diagnosis, but it turns out that WWE wasn’t exactly pleased. Young was a guest on the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast and spoke about making her diagnosis public. WWE was not pleased with her reveali..

AEW Announces Violent Grudge Match For All Out

•

Keep em coming. Wrestling feuds are designed to build over time and set a big match later on. Depending on how the story goes, a violent match might be the right solution in the end. Some feuds are built around people wanting to hurt each other and that allows for some interesting options for the big blowoff match. If the match is done right, things can go well in the end and hopefully that is the case again. AEW has found a rather violent feud between Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara. The feud had already begun but then was amped up when Guevara threw a chair at Hardy’s head and busted him open hardway. Hardy was not pleased and busted Guevara open during a tables match, but things were not done yet. Now they have another match set up on the bigger stage. AEW has announced a Broken Rules match between Hardy and Guevara for All Out. The match will be contested under Last Man Standing rules, with the match ending when someone cannot answer a ten count. In addition, Hardy has agreed to lea..

NXT Title Match Ends In Controversy

•

Not quite. The NXT Title has been moving around a lot as of late and that can make things rather interesting in a hurry. Keith Lee won the title from Adam Cole back in July but then lost it to Karrion Kross less than two months later. However, Kross was injured during the match and had to vacate the title that same week. We needed a new champion and a title match was set for this week. Last week on NXT, General Manager William Regal announced a sixty minute Iron Man match between Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano, Adam Cole and Tommaso Ciampa. It was one of the biggest matches in the history of NXT and certainly the longest. This was a way to settle everything and set up a new champion, or at least that was how everything looked on paper. The Iron Man match wound up in a two way tie, with Balor and Cole earning two falls apiece to Gargano and Ciampa’s one apiece. As a result, Regal came to the ring to announce that the two will meet each other in a one on one match the following week, one f..

205 Live Results – August 28, 2020

•

205 Live Date: August 28, 2020 Location: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Corey Graves, Vic Joseph I’ve run out of ways to figure out what to expect from this show and in a way, that’s rather good around here. There is only so much you can expect with the rather limited roster around here and I’m not sure what to expect from that. We had a Cruiserweight Title match this week on NXT so it might be time for a new opponent. Or maybe a rematch since there was a loaded mask involved. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Tehuti comes to the ring for a match but during his entrance, Miles talks about how a rookie like him should be learning from the veterans. He might be rookie of the year though and this show exists because of him. Hopefully a veteran can bring the best out of him. At least he has an opponent. Tehuti Miles vs. Brian Kendrick Brian hasn’t been around for awhile. Miles has to spin out of an early armbar and Kendrick drop toeholds his way out of a hammerlock. Some..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – September 1, 2020

•

NXT Date: September 1, 2020 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Commentator Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph, Beth Phoenix It’s Super Tuesday and they have a big time main event this time around. Tonight it’s a four way sixty minute Iron Man match for the vacant NXT Title. Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Adam Cole and Finn Balor are facing off for the title and that could make for a pretty major moment. Let’s get to it. Long video on the Iron Man match. Legado del Fantasma vs. Breezango/Isaiah Scott Street fight with weapons around the ring. It’s a huge brawl to start with everyone going after each other and hitting/throwing people into the weapons. A table is set up at ringside and Fandango puts a ladder on his head for the helicopter spot. Scott kicks a trashcan lid into Mendoza’s face and then knees Escobar in the face. Breeze sprays a fire extinguisher to clean house and we take a break. Back with Scott kicking his way out of trouble but being knocked to the floor for ..

Main Event Results – August 27, 2020

•

Main Event Date: August 27, 2020 Location: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton We’re off to the Thunder Dome for the show and I’m not exactly expecting it to make that much of a difference. It’s also the last show before Payback, meaning we will be building to a show and recovering from another one at the same time. That could mean a few different things around here, though none of them are exactly thrilling. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Mustafa Ali vs. Arturo Ruas Ali has to duck from an early kick to the head but a knee puts him down. Ruas kicks him in the arm to keep Ali in trouble and the martial arts are on full display. We hit the armbar on the mat but Ali gets in a few rollups for two each. Another shot to the arm cuts Ali off though and it’s off to an armbar to send Ali over to the ropes. Ali comes back with a rolling…Codebreaker to the arm instead of the X Factor actually. A Crossface sends Ruas over to the rope for a change and Ru..
