VIDEO: Former WWE Star Teases Next Move In Wrestling

•

They have my attention. The biggest wrestling story of the year continues to be the string of WWE releases, as the question becomes where the wrestlers are going to head next. There are several options available, with the highest profile destination still being AEW. Not everyone can get there, but now we might have a hint of where someone else is heading after leaving WWE. Ruby Soho, formerly known as Ruby Riott in WWE, has posted a video of herself with a train ticket from Orlando, Florida, the home of NXT, to New York City. However, Soho misses her train, with the words “The Runaway, to be continued” appearing to end the video. This comes as AEW is on its way to New York City for Grand Slam, as well as Rochester, New York for an episode of Dynamite. There is no guarantee that Soho will be signing with AEW. This is certainly interesting. Check out the video, plus Soho’s time in WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post co..

Another NXT Star Not Cleared To Wrestle, Pulled From This Week’s Show

•

Hopefully it isn’t too bad. There are all kinds of reasons why a wrestler might miss a show and that is certainly the case today. With so many changes in the world in the last year and a half, it is not even that much of a surprise when someone misses a show due to some sort of medical issue. That seems to be the case again, though this time there are still a few questions. NXT Cruiserweight Champion Kushida was pulled from this week’s show after not being medically cleared. There is no word on what is wrong with Kushida to keep him out of action. General Manager William Regal confirmed the news earlier in the day and announced that Kushida would be replaced on the show. Kushida himself commented, saying that he was not medically cleared but would be back on television soon. This week’s edition of NXT was scheduled to include a Cruiserweight Title match with Kushida defending against Roderick Strong. With Kushida unavailable, Strong issued an open challenge and was defeated by Ilja D..

VIDEO: Big Angle Takes Place During This Week’s NXT

•

That’s one way to go. There are all kinds of stories to tell in wrestling but there are some which you see more often than others. That can make for some tried and true stories over the years, but promotions keep coming back to them for a reason. It seems to be the case again at the moment, as we are seeing a classic angle played out all over again on national television. Indi Hartwell proposed to her new boyfriend Dexter Lumis during this week’s edition of NXT. The two have been a couple for two weeks and went on their first date during last week’s edition of the show. Following a win in a mixed tag team match during this week’s show, Beth Phoenix whispered some advice to Hartwell, who then pulled out a ring and proposed, with Lumis accepting. There is no word on when the wedding will take place. It was a long road to get here. Interesting Reason Keith Lee Has Not Been On Monday Night Raw

•

There’s a reason. WWE has a lot of talented wrestlers on its roster today and unfortunately that means not everyone is going to get their chance to do something. Every now and then you see a wrestler whose fate leaves fans puzzled, which is rarely a good thing to see. That is currently the case on Monday Night Raw, but now we might know what is going on with a certain star. According to PWInsider.com, Monday Night Raw’s Keith Lee has mainly been wrestling in dark matches prior to the television broadcast because WWE wants to refine Lee’s skills. The idea has been to figure out what works best for Lee in the ring, as WWE is not sure how to use him. Lee returned to WWE television in July after six months away from the ring due to health issues. This shouldn’t be hard. Check out what Lee can do in the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of thing that has me wo..

RUMOR: WWE Considering Several Special Shows

•

It would be different. There are a lot of WWE television shows on any given week and that has been the case for a very long time now. WWE has presented Monday Night Raw and SmackDown for decades each and some might say that the shows have gotten a bit repetitive. There are only so many ways to present the shows but now we might be seeing something fresh. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, based on the success of Major League Baseball’s Field of Dreams game, WWE is considering some “offsite events” to be held in 2022. Some of the possible ideas considered would be “Raw on the Roof”, a show in the Hammerstein Ballroom and a show at a music festival similar to the Rolling Loud event earlier this summer. There is no word on when these events might take place, assuming they actually do. With the success MLB had w/ the Field of Dreams game last week, WWE has begun very initial discussions about doing a few “offsite events” in 2022. Some ideas discussed within creative include: ..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – August 17, 2021

•

NXT Date: August 17, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Beth Phoenix, Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett It’s the go home show for Takeover 36 and the card is completely set. That might not be the best thing though as this show could use a few upgrades. As has been the case for a long time, Takeover has not had the sparkiest of sparks, even if the shows wind up being pretty high qualify. Let’s get to it. The Diamond Mine (with Tyler Rust missing with no explanation from the team) is in the ring to start things off. Kushida isn’t here tonight (due to not being cleared) to defend the Cruiserweight Title against Roderick Strong, so it’s open challenge time. Roderick Strong vs. Ilja Dragunov Strong grabs the arm to start but Dragunov kicks him away without much trouble. Back up and Strong chops him down, only to have Dragunov hit one of his own. Dragunov goes up top but has to bail out, leaving him to run Strong over again. Strong’s leg gets knocked out but he..

205 Live Results – August 13, 2021

•

205 Live Date: August 13, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness This week is going to be our first look at the new (or newer) 205 Live after the latest roster purge. I’m not sure what we are going to be seeing this week and that is kind of interesting in a way. For the life of me I do not get why this is still a cruiserweight show when there are barely any cruiserweights, but that’s WWE logic for you. Let’s get to it. Ikemen Jiro vs. Grayson Waller Waller tosses Jiro (and the coat) around to start and it’s off to an exchange of headlocks. Jiro gets the better of things and trips Waller down, followed by an enziguri to make it worse. The Tarantula is broken up though and Waller gets in a shot to the face. A snap suplex drops Jiro again and the cravate goes on, complete with knees to the head. The chinlock with an arm trap has Jiro in trouble and Waller rolls him up, with trunks, for two. Waller stops to yell at the refere..

REVIEW: Summerslam 2020: You’ll Never See It Coming

•

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Summerslam 2020 Date: August 23, 2020 Location: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips, Samoa Joe It’s finally time to try this out and yes it’s another Thunder Dome show, which may or may not mean anything to you if you’re reading this in 2273. Basically there are no fans live in the arena, but there are pictures of several of them scared to move because of all of the conditions WWE has included to allow them to be shown on screen. Other than that, we h..

Unique Change Possible For 2022 Royal Rumble

Group Of Released WWE Wrestlers Having Serious Visa Issues

•

Call it the fallout. The WWE roster has been shaken up several times this year as all kinds of wrestlers have been let go from the company. That has been quite the way to change things around though it has not exactly been the easiest for some of the wrestlers involved. It turns out that a specific group of wrestlers in particular are having more troubles than usual. According to Fightful Select, the international wrestlers who were released from WWE earlier this year are having problems due to their lack of visas. As a result, the wrestlers are unable to monetize their sources of income such as merchandise until they can obtain a visa. Released WWE wrestlers are under a ninety day no compete clause, after which they have sixty days to find work or leave the United States. Bronson Reed sent out a tweet about the issue, saying “Released. An international. During a pandemic. Fun times.” Released. An international. During a pandemic. Update On Why Ember Moon Missed Last Week’s NXT

That’s a valid reason. Despite there being so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be rather telling when someone goes missing. That can be the case for a lot of reasons and some of them are more serious than others. Sometimes someone is going to have a physical issue of some sort, which is the case again now with a missing member of the NXT roster. Last week, NXT’s Ember Moon was pulled from her scheduled match on the day of the show with no explanation. According to Fightful Select, Moon was recovering from a dental procedure and was not medically cleared to compete. Moon offered to wrestle the match anyway but WWE would not allow her to do so. There is no word on when Moon will return to the ring. Dakota Kai took her place against Sarray and went on to win the match. Moon is going to be fine. RUMOR: USA Network Not Happy With Upcoming NXT Change

•

Can you blame them? WWE might not be as popular as it once was, but it is certainly bringing in a heck of a lot more money than it ever has before. The majority of that money comes from television contracts, as television networks are more than willing to hand over a lot of money for WWE’s first run content. However, one of them does not seem to be pleased over a recent development. According to a tweet from the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, a USA network employee is not happy with NXT being turned back into a taped show. The employee was quoted as saying that “a taped show is not what we paid for”. There is no word on what USA might do if NXT does move to a taped schedule. WWE has yet to announce any change to the NXT schedule, though the changes are expected to begin following this Sunday’s Takeover 36. So Yes? Another Title Match Added To Summerslam

•

It’s what matters the most. When you break wrestling down, titles are probably the most important thing on any given show. Most of the time, at least in theory, the heroes are there to prove that they are the best and the villains are there for money or power, all of which can be gained through championships. It makes them valuable, which is why a new title match has been announced for Summerslam. This week on Monday Night Raw, a Raw Tag Team Title match featuring AJ Styles and Omos defending against Randy Orton and Riddle was set for Summerslam. Following a match with Omos, Orton was being attacked by both Styles and Omos, leading to Riddle coming down to the ring for the save. As a result, Orton was willing to reform RKBro, causing Riddle to issue the challenge for the title match. Riddle and Orton have teamed together on and off since late April, with Riddle being much more excited about the team than Orton. Over the course of several months, Orton has slowly grown to tolerate Ridd..

WATCH: CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar From SummerSlam 2013

•

The Best vs. The Beast. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full No Disqualification match between CM Punk and Brock Lesnar from SummerSlam 2013. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: The action started at a breakneck pace, with Lesnar outmuscling his smaller foe and focusing his punishing offense on Punk’s ribs, not yet completely healed from The Beast’s attack on Raw weeks ago. Despite speculation among certain segments of the WWE Universe that Punk would be wholly overmatched, however, The Best in the World proved completely fearless, and his never-say-die spirit, galvanized by the decidedly pro-Punk fans in attendance, allowed him to survive maneuvers that would have undoubtedly downed most Superstars. Lesnar tossed Punk onto tables, slammed his body with a steel chair and rocketed him overhead with a belly-to-belly suplex on the floor. The farm-strong Lesnar placed a table cov..

WATCH: The Rock vs. John Cena From WrestleMania 29

•

The redemption story. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube page in which they show the full match between The Rock and John Cena for the WWE Championship from WrestleMania 29. You can see the video in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: As their battle progressed, the two Superstars abandoned all pretenses and cued up the heavy artillery, tossing signature maneuvers at each other in the hopes of keeping the other down. For a moment, it seemed like Cena had the advantage again when Rock nearly fell victim to the same hubris as his opponent last year, attempting Cena’s Five Knuckle Shuffle and running straight into Cena’s waiting arms for an AA. The Cenation leader later used the same history to his advantage when he suckered Rock into another AA after faking him out with a façade of the same People’s Elbow endeavor that cost him the bout last year. Victory would not come so easily at the cost of The People’s Champion, though, and the ba..

New Grudge Match Set For Summerslam

•

There is still time. We are less than a week away from Summerslam and this year’s edition might be the biggest show that WWE has to offer all year. The show is going to be taking place in an NFL stadium for the first time, meaning WWE is going to be trying even harder than usual to make things work. That means they are going to add in everything that they can, which was the case this week. This week on Monday Night Raw, a match between Alexa Bliss and Eva Marie was officially added to the Summerslam card. The match comes after Marie has not been impressed by Bliss and her doll Lillie, which has caused Bliss to go after Marie in return. Lillie the doll has also seemingly used her powers to annoy Marie, as well as cost Marie’s associate Doudrop a match against Bliss last week on Monday Night Raw. This will be Marie’s first televised singles match since 2016. They have taken a strange path to get here. Check out what set things up: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post..

Roman Reigns Opens Up On Jimmy Uso’s DUI Arrest

•

He would know. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and sometimes they make headlines for the wrong reasons. It could be anything from a minor deal to a major issue but sometimes you see a wrestler getting some bad attention. That was the case with a WWE star earlier this year and now someone pretty close to them is opening up about what happened. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns recently spoke with the New York Post and discussed his cousin Jimmy Uso’s recent DUI arrest. Reigns talked about how everyone makes mistakes at times and rather than piling onto Uso, he attempted to jump in with love and help in an attempt to help Uso become a better person. Uso was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in July, marking his fourth arrest for such an offense. He was never suspended by WWE and the Usos won the SmackDown Tag Team Titles less than two weeks after the arrest. Reigns and the Usos do have a history. WWE Falsely Advertises Charlotte For Live Event

They shouldn’t do that. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world and that puts them in a rather special situation. They are able to run more events than any other promotion in the country and they are going to get more attention than anyone else. This time though, some of the attention they received is not leaving them in the best light. According to PWInsider.com, Charlotte did not appear at this weekend’s WWE live event in Charlotte, North Carolina as she was in Mexico City for AAA TripleMania. Charlotte’s fiance Andrade El Idolo, accompanied by Charlotte’s father Ric Flair, unsuccessfully challenged Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Title at the event, with Charlotte in attendance as well. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Charlotte requested the night off from WWE “some time ago”, though WWE continued to advertise her for the show anyway. Charlotte also missed the Sunday night WWE live event in Columbia, South Carolina. Charlotte is going to be a big ..
