AEW RUMOR: Update On Wrestling Legend’s Health Issues

That could be worse. There are all kinds of reasons that someone might be out of action from wrestling. It can be even scarier when someone has a history of bad health issues. Some of them are going to be more serious than others, but it can be quite the relief to hear that things are not as serious as they could have been. Now we might have some better news about a certain legend. Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Jake Roberts was undergoing health issues that had him in a wheelchair and using an oxygen tube. According to Bodyslam.net, Roberts is in a wheelchair due to undergoing foot surgery, including having pins inserted into his toes. This is the reason he has been away from AEW television. Roberts has been managing Lance Archer. Roberts has had a big time in AEW. VIDEO: Special Tribute Entrance Before This Week’s SmackDown

Sticking to the classics. There are a lot of things that go into making someone a star in wrestling and some of them are a bit more obvious than others. One of the most important things is their entrance music, especially if it is part of a grand entrance package. That has been the case more than once over the years and someone paid tribute to a classic this week. A video has been posted to Twitter showing SmackDown broadcaster Pat McAfee making his entrance to Metallica’s Enter Sandman while carrying a Singapore cane. McAfee beat on the announcers’ table with the cane before taking his seat. This was done as a tribute to the Sandman, who wrestled in the original run of ECW. WWE And FOX Have Huge Meeting, Here’s The Good And The Bad

They’re the bosses. WWE is a huge wrestling company but it has its own bosses to answer to. Some of the biggest are the networks that broadcast the company’s television shows, with NBC Universal on one side and FOX on the other. That can make for quite the balancing act, and it seems that one side is not quite happy with how WWE has been doing as of late. Fightful Select has released a report on the relationship between WWE and FOX. Vince McMahon and WWE President Nick Khan met with FOX executives the night before Summerslam. According to Fightful’s sources, FOX is disappointed with SmackDown’s viewership, though it is understood that the majority of their relationship has taken place during the Coronavirus pandemic, making the numbers a bit harder to gauge. On the other hand, FOX was happy with WWE stars appearing on FOX programming to promote Summerslam. WATCH: WWE Star Makes Return After Year Long Absence

Welcome home. With so many stars on the WWE roster, it can be hard to find something for all of them to do. WWE has a lot of television time available, but there are only so many places to put everyone. It can be even more frustrating when someone shows up and then disappears just as quickly. That was the case with a Monday Night Raw star, but he seems to have found a new home. Riddick Moss returned to WWE television this week, appearing on SmackDown as Happy Corbin’s new associate. Corbin brought out Kevin Owens to be the guest on the first edition of his Happy Talk talk show, with Moss attacking Owens during his entrance. Moss has not been seen for over an entire year, last appearing on Raw Underground in 2020. He has been out of action with a torn ACL, but worked a dark match before last week’s SmackDown. VIDEO: Former World Champion Makes Surprise AEW Debut

Welcome aboard? AEW has come a long way in a short amount of time and a lot of that is due to its roster. The company has put together a great balance of rookies, current stars and veterans, which has made for a great selection. It can always help to bring in someone else though, and that might have been the case this week as a former World Champion made his debut. The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Rampage saw Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston team up to face Minoru Suzuki and Lance Archer. Near the end of the match, former Ring of Honor World Champion Homicide appeared and helped Moxley and Kingston win the match. There is no word on if this was a one off appearance or if Homicide will be sticking around. Homicide has been wrestling in Ring of Honor, and was half of the Tag Team Champions earlier this month. WWE Teaming With MGM To Relaunch Classic Competition Series

It does kind of fit. There are very few forms of entertainment like professional wrestling. You have all of the different emotions that go into a show, but ultimately it is a bunch of muscular people in ridiculous outfits fighting each other in an over the top contest. That can make for some interesting moments, and now the biggest promotion in the world is branching out into something similar. According to Dateline, WWE is partnering with MGM to relaunch American Gladiators, with a variety of WWE stars appearing on the show. The series a competition style show featuring a roster of athletes competing against contestants in athletic events, originally aired from 1989 – 1996 and was relaunched in 2008, with Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali as hosts. There is no word on when or where the show will air or which WWE names will be attached. There are some names who could do quite well on this kind of a show. AEW Rampage Results – September 24, 2021 (Grand Slam)

Rampage Date: September 24, 2021 Location: Arthur Ashe Tennis Stadium, New York City, New York Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Ricky Starks It’s the second half of AEW’s New York Adventures and that’s not a bad thing. This week’s Dynamite was huge and this is the biggest Rampage to date, clocking in at two hours instead of the usual one. I’m not sure what that is going to mean, but odds are it’s going to be fun. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. CM Punk vs. Powerhouse Hobbs Hook is here with Hobbs. Punk, in trunks for a change, goes after Hobbs to start but a single shot sends him down on the ropes. Hobbs plants him down and we hit the neck crank to keep Punk in trouble. Punk’s comeback includes a knee to the ribs but Hobbs runs him over again and seems to be toying with him so far. AEW Star Off Television Due To Health Issues

That doesn’t sound good. There are all kinds of wrestlers in the world and some of them are in different stages of their careers. While you can find several in the ring at any given point, there are some who have long since retired from active competition. There is still a place for them in the industry, but one of the legends is now having some serious issues of his own. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jake Roberts has been missing from AEW television due to health issues. While it is not clear exactly what is wrong, Roberts recently made an appearance at the Connecticut Horrorfest, where he was in a wheelchair and was using an oxygen tube. Update On SmackDown Stars Appearing On Monday Night Raw (And Vice Versa)

Only in a pinch. There are so many wrestlers on the WWE’s main rosters that they have had to be divided into two groups. That is a nice problem to have, as you know when you can see various wrestlers, but it can be a little difficult to keep things interesting. Sometimes you get a few changes here or there, which is what happened earlier this week. You just might not want to get used to it. This week’s Monday Night Raw featured guest appearances by the Bloodline, with Universal Champion Roman Reigns wrestling twice on the show. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, wrestlers appearing on other brands is not something that will be regularly taking place. WWE Considering Multiple Plans For WrestleMania 38

There are options. We are getting ready to enter the final quarter of 2021 and in WWE terms, that means it is time to start getting ready for the build to WrestleMania 38. The show is set to take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, but there are several details still to be set in stone. It turns out that one of the bigger details might not be as set as assumed. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is still considering whether or not to hold WrestleMania 38 as a two night event. There are discussions in place with AT&T Stadium over the possibility of having the event be two nights, with another option being a one night WrestleMania and the next night’s Monday Night Raw both being held at the stadium. There is also the chance that both SmacKDown and Monday Night Raw could be held at Gerald Ford Stadium in Dallas, as the American Airlines Arena will not be available for SmackDown due to a Dallas Mavericks game. VIDEO: WWE Star Out 4-6 Weeks After Knee Surgery

That could be worse. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling and one of the worst parts is figuring out just how long someone is going to be out of the ring. Sometimes these are a lot worse than others, but that waiting period can be one of the worst parts. Thankfully some injuries are not as bad as others and now we know just how long an injured WWE star will be gone. MVP had knee surgery this week and has posted an upgrade to Instagram, saying he will be out of action for 4-6 weeks. In the update, MVP also revealed that he had been suffering from a pair of Meniscus tears since February and while he was out of action from a rib injury suffered on Monday Night Raw, he had his knee fixed as well. MVP has wrestled on occasion since his injury, with his most recent match taking place on the September 6 Monday Night Raw. It will be nice to have him back. Zack Sabre Jr. And Bryan Danielson: Shots Fired On Potential Matchup

Zack Sabre Jr defeated IWGP World Heavyweight champion Shingo Takagi on September 23. The match took place in the A-Block of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Climax 31 tournament. Sabre made the champ tap out and once again established himself as a true force to be reckoned with in the company. The match itself was hard fought and yet another great example of what both men are capable of together. But the real news came afterward, when Sabre took the time to call out none other than The American Dragon, Bryan Danielson. His comments came just days after Danielson said he would love to face Zack in England. So is it now off to the races for Danielson versus Sabre? Several Former WWE Stars Are Now Free Agents, Can Sign Anywhere

Welcome to the fold. There are so many talented wrestlers on the free agent market today that it is hard to fathom. You have a lot of talented wrestlers in WWE and AEW but there are far more names outside of the two major promotions. That makes for some interesting situations as you never know when someone might pop up elsewhere. Now we have some more names available on the free agent market. Several names were released from WWE back in June, meaning that they would be under ninety day no compete clauses. Those clauses have since expired, meaning that main roster wrestlers released from the company are now free agents who are allowed to sign anywhere they like. These names include Ariya Daivari, Tony Nese, Fandango, Tyler Breeze, the Bollywood Boyz, Marina Shafir and Killian Dain. There is no word on where any of them will sign, though Dain still has a few legal issues to sort out before he can sign. WWE Couple Announces Their Engagement

Someone said yes. Wrestlers are in a weird position as they are supposed to portray their characters full time while often not showing what is going on behind the scenes. That is easier said than done a lot of the time, especially in a world of social media and online presence. Both have allowed for easier looks behind the scenes and that is the case again with two WWE stars. WWE star Scarlett has revealed that she and Monday Night Raw’s Karrion Kross are now engaged. The couple have been together for several years now and have been paired together on NXT television, though Scarlett has yet to join him on the main roster. It is not clear if this will lead to the two of them being paired on television again. AEW Not Bringing In Popular Released WWE Star

There isn’t room for everyone. Various wrestlers have been moving around the industry as of late with all kinds of them going from one promotion to another. That can make for some interesting moves, as wrestlers are suddenly getting opportunities that they never have before. It turns out that one wrestler is not going to get another opportunity that he has gotten before. Buddy Matthews, formerly known as Buddy Murphy, was one of the dozens of wrestlers who were released from WWE earlier this year. Matthews has wrestled a pair of independent matches since his release, but has yet to sign with a major promotion. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW will not be bringing Matthews in. WWE Has Already Ended A Controversial New NXT Character

I hope you took pictures. New characters are introduced on wrestling shows all of the time. You often see someone new added into the fold and it can be very fun to see where they go and how long it takes them to get there. Some of them are a lot more successful than others, occasionally due to outside forces. That was the case this week, as a new character is already done. This week on NXT, Joe Gacy introduced a new character who was built around being politically correct. This included saying that the ring was a safe space and he did not need to use his male privilege to win matches. The character received attention from the New York Post and FOX News over poking fun at the “woke left”. According to Wrestlinginc.com, WWE has since deleted all references to the character from its website and social media, with Gacy doing the same on his own accounts.
