Injured WWE Star Set To Return To TV Next Week

•

Welcome back. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and not all of them are going to be able to appear on every show. This could be the case for multiple reasons, but sometimes someone is injured and not able to get back in the ring. Unfortunately there is no way to guarantee how long recovery will take, but now know when an injured WWE star is returning to television. According to PWInsider.com, Bobby Lashley is expected to return to WWE television this week on Monday Night Raw. This will be Lashley’s first WWE appearance since Elimination Chamber, where he did not wrestle as advertised due to a shoulder injury. There is no word on what Lashley will be doing on the show, but he is rumored for a match with Omos at WrestleMania 38. Opinion: I’m sure WWE will be glad to have Lashley back as he is one of the most important names on their roster. Lashley has been one of the featured names on Monday Night Raw in the last year and it would be great to have him around for WrestleMa..

Ouch: AEW Star Suffers Injury During Bloody Match

•

It’s always a possibility. There are all kinds of wrestling matches throughout the course of any given week and that means a lot of things can happen. Those things can be either positive or negative and one of the bigger negatives is an injury. You never know when someone is going to go down with an injury and unfortunately that seems to have been the case again this week. The opening match of this week’s edition of AEW Rampage saw Dustin Rhodes defeat Lance Archer. Early on, Archer busted open Rhodes’ ear, which bled for the majority of the match. Rhodes has posted a video to Twitter, revealing that he needed five stitches to close the wound and that he suffered a busted eardrum. He said that he was in good spirits though and was not going anywhere, suggesting that he would not be missing any ring time. A little update!! #ImNotGoingAnywhere @AEW pic.twitter.com/rMqhVNab5D — Dustin Rhodes (@dustinrhodes) March 26, 2022 Opinion: Rhodes’ ear looked banged up during the match and I’m ..

Monday Night Raw To Feature Several Guest Stars

•

It’s that time of year. We are less than a week away from WrestleMania 38 and the biggest WWE event of the year. The show is mostly set and we know who we should and shouldn’t expect for the card. Now that things are set, it is time to hype everything up as well as possible, and WWE seems to have a plan to do that next week, even if it means breaking some rules in the process. According to PWInsider.com, several SmackDown names are booked for next week’s edition of Monday Night Raw. This includes SmackDown Tag Team Champions the Usos, who have already been announced for a match against Raw Tag Team Champions RKBro. In addition, Intercontinental Champion Ricochet and Shinsuke Nakamura and set to appear, along with Sasha Banks, Naomi, Natalya and Shayna Baszler, who will be on opposite sides in an eight woman tag. There is no word on if any other SmackDown stars are expected to appear on the show. Opinion: While WWE has rules about Monday Night Raw and SmackDown starts appearing on the..

Bret Hart Praises Brock Lesnar And Slams Goldberg

•

That’s quite the shot. Wrestlers can come in all different shapes and sizes, meaning that they are going to wrestle all kinds of styles. It makes sense for wrestlers with different physical abilities to wrestle in different ways, as it makes sense to play to your strengths. However, the wrestlers also have to keep their opponents safe, which led one legend to criticize another. WWE Hall of Fame Bret Hart took part in a virtual signing for Signed By Superstars. During the signing, Hart mentioned that his niece Natalya had told him that Brock Lesnar saw Hart as his dream opponent. Hart responded by saying that he had always heard Lesnar was a good worker who looked stiff but took care of his opponents, unlike Goldberg. This is in reference to Goldberg superkicking Hart at Starrcade 1999, causing an injury which led to Hart’s retirement from the ring soon thereafter. Neither Goldberg nor Lesnar have responded to the statements. Opinion: I know it is has been over twenty years but I can ..

Recently Signed AEW Star May Already Be Taking A Break From The Company

•

Well that was quick. A wrestler making their debut can be a very important moment, but they also have to follow up on it. Just appearing and then doing nothing after it does not work out that well and it can render a good debut useless. There are multiple ways to slow down a new wrestler’s momentum and that might be the case again with one of the newest AEW signings. Earlier this month, Paige VanZant officially signed her AEW contract to become a wrestler. However, she will also be able to continue participating in outside sports, including bare knuckle boxing. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, VanZant has signed for a bare knuckle boxing fight in London on July 9 against an opponent to be determined. This means that VanZant may be taking time away from AEW to train, though it is not known when she might begin her hiatus. Opinion: That is quite the fast move for someone who has only officially been around AEW for a few weeks now. VanZant might not be ready for her first..

Top Free Agent Expected To Make AEW Debut

•

Their eyes have been caught. Every wrestling promotion has to make changes to keep their roster fresh. This can be done in a variety of ways, but the easiest is to just bring in new wrestlers. These wrestlers might come from anywhere and sometimes they come in bunches. That might be the case again, as AEW has its eyes on one of the biggest free agents in wrestling today. According to Fightful Select, Jonathan Gresham is expected to be signed to either AEW or Ring of Honor, with Gresham working on AEW shows either way. There is no word on when Gresham could be making his AEW debut..Gresham is the reigning Ring of Honor World Champion and will be facing Bandido in a unification match at Supercard of Honor on April 1. AEW President Tony Khan announced his purchase of Ring of Honor earlier this month. Opinion: This doesn’t seem to be the biggest shock as Gresham is one of the top stars not currently signed to a major promotion. Let him go to one of the biggest promotions in the world and..

WATCH: Injured Wrestler Makes His Return To SmackDown

•

Welcome back. There are all kinds of injuries that take place in the wrestling world and some of them can be a lot more serious than others. As soon as someone gets hurt, one of the most important questions to ask is how long will they be out of action. You never know how long it might be, but hopefully it isn’t overly serious. One recently injured wrestler made his television return this week after a good while away. This week’s SmackDown saw the return of King Woods, as he defeated Ridge Holland in less than a minute with a small package. Kofi Kingston was originally scheduled to face Holland but brought out Woods as a surprise, though the ring announcer had already mentioned Woods’ name. The match was Woods’ first on television since the January 7 SmackDown due to a calf injury, though he returned to live event matches earlier this month. It was worth the wait. Check out Woods’ return: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: It’s always good to see someone coming bac..

Two Reigning WWE Champions Likely To Miss WrestleMania 38

•

I guess they have no path. WrestleMania is the most important show of the year in WWE and being on the card can be a huge boost to someone’s career. There are all kinds of ways to get there and this year’s show being split over two nights should make it even easier for a wrestler to make it. Not everyone can though, and that seems to be the case with some rather prominent names. Two matches for next week’s SmackDown were announced on this week’s episode. First up, Intercontinental Champion Ricochet will defend against Angel and Humberto in a triple threat match. Second, the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal will take place, with United States Champion Finn Balor listed as a participant. While things could change, this would suggest that neither of them will wrestle at WrestleMania. Opinion: This is some of the most disappointing news I have heard from WWE in a very long time. They have a story about a former World Champion not being able to make it to WrestleMania, plus matches i..

REVIEW: WrestleMania 34: When Reigns Met Lesnar

•

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Wrestlemania XXXIV Date: April 8, 2018 Location: Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana Attendance: 78,133 Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Jonathan Coachman, Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton America the Beautiful: Chloe x Hallie I’m not sure if it’s because I was in the stadium last year or something else, but this show was actually a bit more memorable than the previous few editions. Hopefully it’s just as good watching it back but you never can tell with these things. Brock Lesnar is defending the U..

Changes Being Made To Steve Austin And Kevin Owens’ WrestleMania Showdown

•

Lineup change? We are a week away from WrestleMania 38 and in theory, that should mean that WWE has everything set up. There are several things set up for the show and that is going to make for a rather loaded show. Just making the matches is the first step though as they also have to be presented in the best way. It turns out that the plans might have already changed. One of the segments announced for WrestleMania Saturday is Steve Austin as a guest on the Kevin Owens Show. Original reports had said this would be the closing segment of the show, but according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the SmackDown Women’s Title match between Charlotte and Ronda Rousey is expected to headline the night. There is no word on why WWE made such a change. Opinion: Rousey vs. Charlotte might not have the same amount of star power, but it is probably a better move. A wrestling show ending with a wrestling match makes the most sense as ending with something focused on talking would be a bit of a..

Monday Night Raw Star Undergoing Character Change

•

But he hasn’t started yet. There are several different ways to debut a wrestler and some of them are as old as time. One of the easiest ways in the modern era is to run a series of vignettes on television saying that a wrestler will be there soon. It builds up anticipation for the fans and then they know what they are seeing. But what if you advertise one thing and then present another? Back in November 2021, vignettes began airing on Monday Night Raw announcing that Veer Mahaan was coming to the show soon. This would be a return for Mahaan, as he had been an associate of Jinder Mahal before leaving television. Mahaan has yet to appear, though he has been advertised to appear on the April 4 Monday Night Raw. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mahaan will undergo some sort of a change to his original character. There is no word on what kind of changes will be made. Opinion: I’m getting Brodus Clay vibes here, as his return was hyped up for months before he returned as the..

There is also a title match this week as Shane Strickland gets to challenge Ricky Starks for the FTW Title. Other than that, hometown boy Dustin Rhodes is facing Lance Archer in a bid for revenge from months ago. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Lance Archer vs. Dustin Rhodes Archer drags one of Rhodes’ students to the ring but here is Dustin for the save. Hold on though as Dustin has to beat up Dan Lambert (who is still managing Archer) but Archer makes the save. They head inside with Archer knocking him around and hitting him in the head. Dustin fights back up and knocks him outside, only to miss the flip dive off the apron. Back in and Dustin is bleeding from the ear, with the blood on Archer’s hands for a good visual. A twisting middle rope splash gives Archer two and we take a break..

Smackdown Date: March 25, 2022 Location: Barclays Center, New York City, New York Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee We’re eight days away from Wrestlemania and believe it or not, the preview for the show has a picture of Roman Reigns/Brock Lesnar/Paul Heyman, because that is the only thing on this show that matters. It would be nice for the new Intercontinental Champion to get a Wrestlemania match set up, but I wouldn’t bet on it anytime soon. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Brock Lesnar’s path of rage last week, including the fork lift attack on the Bloodline’s SUV. Opening sequence. Brock Lesnar is outside of Reigns’ dressing room and says that he has paid some fines and bought some vehicles, including a blood red SUV for Reigns himself. Now upper management has told him to not have any contact with Reigns, so he’ll be sitting in Reigns’ locker room and wait for a good provoking. WWE Might Not Present A Signature WrestleMania Match This Year

•

It’s a numbers thing. The WWE roster is not exactly in the same place that it was in just a few years ago. After the huge list of releases over the last two years, WWE’s roster is nowhere near as deep as it was before. The numbers just are not there at the moment, and that seems to have led to a change of plans for a pair of matches next week at WrestleMania 38. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has had no discussions of holding either the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal or the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal at this year’s WrestleMania. Initial reports had stated that the women’s battle royal would take place at WrestleMania while the men’s version might be on television the week before. At the moment however, there are not enough women available for such a match. The women’s version has not been held since 2019. Opinion: This is something that makes sense when you think about it, as the women’s roster just does not have the amount of wrestlers to make some..

Triple H Announces He Can Never Wrestle Again Due To Health Issues

•

It was great while it lasted. There have been a lot of stars throughout the history of wrestling but very few make it all the way to legendary status. Those are the names who have been around for so long that it is hard to imagine wrestling without them, but at some point, everyone is going to have to hang up their boots. That is the case again with an all time legend. Triple H was a guest on ESPN First Take and announced that his in-ring career was over due to health issues. This comes after Triple H suffered a cardiac event back in August and has not returned to full time work in WWE since. He also revealed that his heard injection fracture was at 12%, while 55-65% is considered good, meaning that he was in heart failure. As a result, Triple H has a defibrillator in his chest and he did not thing it was a good idea for him to be zapped on live television. There is no word on his return to working backstage for WWE. Triple’s last match came at a live event in Tokyo, Japan on June 29,..

Former WWE Star Announces That He Is Stepping Away From Wrestling

•

It was nice while it lasted. There are a lot of wrestlers in WWE’s history and some of them have done some very memorable things. While they might not have all had the same amount of success, all of them have been around for at least a little while, meaning at some point their career has to end. It seems that we will be seeing that take place again sooner rather than later. Dirty Dango, formerly known as Fandango in WWE, has announced that he will be stepping away from the ring in the next few months. He also says “Goodbye forever”, suggesting that he is retiring from wrestling. There was no explanation given for why he is stepping away from the ring. Dango, 38, has been wrestling since 1999 and wrestled for WWE from 2006-2021, when he was released. He has most recently wrestled on the independent circuit, including for the NWA. WWE Announces Special Hall Of Fame Inductee

It’s quite the honor. The WWE Hall of Fame is one of the longstanding parts of WrestleMania weekend, with inductions taking place almost every year since 2004. You get to see all kinds of stars from years past being honored for what they have done over the years, but there is also a special award for people in another category. Now we know something else about this year’s recipient. WWE has announced that Shad Gaspard will posthumously receive the Warrior Award at this year’s Hall of Fame induction. Gaspard passed away in 2020 as he drowned saving his son in the ocean. Since his death, several people in WWE have pushed for him to receive the award, which is designed to remember the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior. the ceremony Takes place on April 1 after SmackDown. Opinion: This is something that is overdue and rather appropriate for both Gaspard and the award. Gaspard seemed to be one of the nicest guys in wrestling and died saving his son, which is about as heroic as you can get. T..

WWE May Have Had Plans For Scott Hall And The NWO

•

What could have been. Wrestling is often built on nostalgia as it can be rather enticing to see a former star make a return for one reason or another. Sometimes these appearances will involve having another match, but often it works out rather well to just have someone show up and make an appearance. That was going to be the case soon, but plans had to be changed for an awful reason. According to Fightful Select, WWE had begun making plans to bring in the original members of the New World Order for appearances over WrestleMania weekend but the plans were changed due to Scott Hall’s passing earlier this month. The group would have been brought in to help promote the WWE2K22 video game, which features an NWO 4 Life Edition, as well as Hall, both as himself and under his Razor Ramon persona. There is no word on whether WWE is considering bringing in the rest of the group for such appearances. Opinion: That’s a sad thing to hear as the NWO was such an influential group on modern wrestlin..

Wrestling Show Letting Fans Pick Who Gets A Lot Of Money

It’s a different motivation. Wrestlers are in a unique situation as they are definitely athletes who are trying to do the best that they can, but a good number of them are doing what they do for the financial impact wrestling can offer. While not everyone is going to reach that high paying level, it is a goal for many and now there is a special way to accomplish just that in a fairly uncommon way. On March 31, WrestleCon will present the Mark Hitchcock Memorial WrestleCon Supershow. WrestleCon has tweeted out an announcement, saying that there will be a fan vote after the show to determine the best match on the show. The wrestlers involved in that match will then split $5,000.
