Ouch: Nasty Injury Takes Place During AEW Dynamite Main Event

It’s the nature of the match. There are a lot of match types in wrestling and some of them are a lot more violent than others. Some of those matches are designed to be as violent as possible, particularly in matches between people who can’t stand each other. It can make for some serious violence, which is on top of the inherent danger of wrestling. That was the case again this week. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Chris Jericho defeat Eddie Kingston in a barbed wire match. The match saw barbed wire around the ring with both wrestlers using it throughout the match. Jericho has since taken to Twitter and revealed that he suffered a broken nose during the match, though it is not clear when in the match it happened. There is nothing to suggest that Jericho will be missing any ring time. Just left the doctors office. It’s official….that SAVAGE @MadKing1981 broke my nose last night. #barbwireeverywhere @AEW pic.twitter.com/1TVUxjUVZx — Chris Jericho (@IAmJericho) July 21, 2..

Seth Rollins Discusses Hearing Cody Rhodes’ Music At WrestleMania 38, more

WWE superstar Seth Rollins was recently interviewed by Stephanie Chase of Digital Spy, where he discussed several topics. Among them were facing Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania 38, when we can expect a reunion of The Shield and more. Below are some highlights from the interview: On hearing Cody Rhodes’ music at Wrestlemania 38: “I just didn’t think it was ever going to happen, or maybe I didn’t think it was ever going to happen so soon. I suppose I always thought maybe Cody would come back, but I didn’t think it was going to be as quickly as it happened. “So to hear his music ‘Kingdom’ over the speakers and that entrance specifically, the presentation of the American Nightmare in a WWE setting, it was pretty surreal to be standing in the middle of the ring.” On Rhodes tearing his pectoral muscle: “It was pretty gnarly,” Rollins said. “I don’t think I expected it to look like that. I’ve had some torn muscles in my day, and I know that the blood seeps down, gravity just takes over, but..

The Undertaker Appears at San-Diego Comic Con 2022

Appear In Peace. At this morning’s WWE panel discussion at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, The Undertaker made a surprise appearance to join the group that was already on stage. You can see a clip of the appearance below: THE UNDERTAKER IS AT COMIC-CON! #WWE #SDCC pic.twitter.com/F7w9FRvQ2s — Jim Velasco @ SDCC ?????? (@TheJimmyV) July 21, 2022 According to a report from Ringside News, The Undertaker made a surprise appearance after a 45-minute session in room 6A of the convention center, presented by Mattel. Many fans mistook the Deadman’s entrance song for the reveal of a retro mid-’90s Monday Night Raw Undertaker figure and were caught off guard when the WWE Hall of Famer appeared out of nowhere. He then continued to assist and introduce the remainder of the Mattel WWE collection, much to the pleasure of the WWE Universe fans in attendance and the WWE Superstars on stage. Other stars that were on stage included Cody Rhodes and Tomasso Ciampa. Editor’s Opinion: I love stuff like..

REVIEW: PWG Zombies Shouldn’t Run: They’re Faster Than Zombies

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Zombies Shouldn’t Run Date: August 6, 2005 Location: Hollywood Los Feliz JCC, Los Angeles, California Attendance: 300 Commentators: Disco Machine, Excalibur It’s back to PWG as I continue my efforts to go through my pile of downloaded shows. This is a show from a rather long time ago but you are probably going to know a lot of the people on this show. That can make these shows that much more fun as I have no idea what to expect here. Let’s get to it. Keep in mind that I know very little about the promotion so I’m..

Wrestler’s Remorse: Seth Rollins Apologizes After Bad Interaction With Fans

Can you blame him? Wrestlers are a rare breed in that they do their jobs right in front of your eyes. That is more than difficult as there are no second changes to get things correct. At the same time, wrestlers are also expected to stay in shape for the ring, which makes free time that much more difficult to come by. That was evident recently, and now a star feels the need to apologize. WWE’s Seth Rollins took to Instagram to apologize to some fans that he was “very harsh and abrupt” with during a recent workout. Rollins said that some fans ran into he and his wife Becky Lynch in the middle of a long workout. He apologized for his reaction and said he would love to do so as well in person. Rollins also said that if you see him at his wrestling school, he’s willing to take a picture or talk to fans, though they may have to wait until he is done teaching or working out. It’s A Painful Game: What Happened After Violent Ending To AEW Dynamite

That could have gone better. There are a lot of match types in wrestling and some of them are built more on violence than anything else. These can be the big finale for a feud and that can make for some rather big moments. It can be better when it is a match type that you do not see happen very often, which was the case again this week. As it turns out, there was more to it after the show was over. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite was a barbed wire match between Chris Jericho and Eddie Kingston, with Jericho winning. After the match, Kingston attacked Jericho again and sent him from the apron onto a barbed wire board on the floor. According to PWInsider.com, following the show, Jericho was removed from the barbed wire and taken from the arena on a stretcher. Opinion: That is the way such a night should end, as Jericho was in a very violent and bloody match and shouldn’t have been able to leave on his own. I’m not sure why the post match angle needed to take place so soon af..

WWE Makes Big Change To Summerslam And Then Changes it Right Back

They were thinking about it. WWE has been a PG product for a very long time now and that has been part of the company’s strongest financial period ever. Fans seem to like the idea of a safer show for family viewing and it has certainly been a success. However, that is not working out for some fans and the television audiences continue to trend down. WWE has been toying with the idea of some changes, and one seemed ready to happen, at least for a few hours. On Wednesday, Peacock had the upcoming Summerslam broadcast rated as a TV-14 event, before ultimately changing it back to a TV-PG, as WWE shows have been for years. This comes as WWE had reportedly been discussing moving Monday Night Raw back to a TV-14 rating. There is no word on when such a change would take place, or if the change will involve other WWE shows. SummerSlam is currently listed as TV-14 on @peacockTV #WWE #summerslam #TV14 pic.twitter.com/w0nDksZAsb — Andrew Zarian (@AndrewZarian) July 20, 2022 WWE Summerslam is b..

Remember Him? Edge Could Be Going Back To A Classic When He Returns

That’s a different way to go. When a wrestler has been around for a long time, there are certain periods of their careers that stand out. It might be an angle or a feud or something similar, but sometimes it is a run that has little to do with anyone else. That is the case with a variety of legends, one of who is set to make his return under the most successful moniker of his career. Back in June, Edge was written off of WWE TV when he was attacked by Finn Balor and Damian Priest. Edge is scheduled to be at Monday Night Raw this week, though it is not clear what he is going to be doing. According to Wrestling Observer Live, Edge is likely to return as the Rated R Superstar, though it is not clear if he will be a babyface or a heel. The return has not been announced in advance by WWE. Opinion: This is one of those things that should be a good thing for everyone involved. You can all but guarantee that Edge is going to be back for a big grudge match at Summerslam and putting him in his..

No Reunion Invitation For Them: WWE Forgot Two Of Its Wrestlers Are Related

Shouldn’t they know that? WWE has a rather large roster and the company knows how to use a good portion of them. This can involve using them in a bunch of different ways, some of which can be more successful than others. On occasion a wrestler has a natural connection to someone else and it makes sense to put them together. That is the case with a current pair of WWE stars, but WWE forgot something about them. Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo, collectively known as Los Lotharios, were interviewed by Fightful Select. During the interview, Garza revealed that while they told WWE they were cousins when they were trying out, the company had to be reminded of it once they had been signed. Garza said that the two did everything together, including moving to Orlando, before having to remind WWE that they were related. Los Lotharios have been teaming together since September 2021. Opinion: On one hand, I can get how WWE forgot about this but at the same time, it’s one of those things that i..

Cody Rhodes Wins WWE Moment of the Year at 2022 ESPYS

It truly is his kingdom. Tonight at the 2022 ESPY Awards, hosted by ESPN, Cody Rhodes picked up the award for WWE Moment of the Year. This was for his return to the company at Wrestlemania 37. The honor was announced as Rhodes presented the ESPY for Best Comeback Athlete, which went to Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors. The American Nightmare reflected on this moment; you can see the interview below: EXCLUSIVE: @CodyRhodes reflects on winning the #ESPYS award for WWE Moment of the Year. pic.twitter.com/uwlPVXvSZz — WWE (@WWE) July 21, 2022 The finalists for the award were: Cody Rhodes Returns at Wrestlemania The Undertaker’s retirement speech Big E Cashes in Money in the Bank and wins the WWE Championship Stone Cold Steve Austin stuns everyone at Wrestlemania You can see the playlist and the moments below: [This post contains video, click to play] Congratulations to Cody on this outstanding achievement! Switchover: AEW Star Turns Heel In Surprising Moment On Dynamite

There’s your switch. There are a lot of ways to present a wrestler and some of them involve switching things up a bit. At some point a wrestler needs to be freshened up a bit, which can also shake up a story going forward. Occasionally it can involved a wrestler turning from either good to evil or vice versa. That was the case again this week in a major spot, and it seems to be setting up something down the road. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite was a barbed wire match between Eddie Kingston and Chris Jericho, with the Jericho Appreciation Society suspended in a shark cage above the ring. Ruby Soho was in charge of the cage but Tay Conti attacked her during the match. Anna Jay ran in to save Soho before turning on her and siding with Conti, turning heel in the process. Jay and Conti are former partners and friends who split earlier in the year. Opinion: AEW certainly likes to turn wrestlers to the dark side and that is going to become a problem one day. At some point, the c..

Surprise Return And Reunion Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

Welcome back. There are a lot of ways to set up a feud between wrestlers and one of the best can be to have someone betray their friend. It sets up a personal rivalry that people can understand and works well most of the time. The initial betrayal can set up a big moment down the line, and that big moment took place this week, with another moment following. Back in June, Christian Cage turned on Jungle Boy and laid him out before siding with Luchasaurus a week later. This week on Dynamite, Cage and Luchasaurus won a tag match, with Jungle Boy returning after the match. Luchasaurus sided with Jungle Boy, who chased Cage out of the arena with a chair. There is currently no word on a match between Cage and Jungle Boy in the future. o Opinion: This is the kind of thing that can set up more than a few interesting possible matches. I could go for Cage vs. Jungle Boy or Cage finding someone to set up a tag match. Either of them could go somewhere good and now the question is about finding o..

AEW Dynamite Results – July 20, 2022

Dynamite Date: July 20, 2022 Location: Gas South Arena, Duluth, Georgia Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz It’s time for the Shark Week show, because corporate synergy is a thing. That means a barbed wire match between Eddie Kingston and Chris Jericho, with the rest of the Jericho Appreciation Society in shark cages. That’s quite the way to go but I’m sure we’ll get something else big tonight. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Brodie King vs. Darby Allin Sting is here with Allin. They start fast with Allin knocking him to the floor for a suicide dive. Back in and King gets staggered again but is fine enough to shrug off a high crossbody attempt. King swings him around by the pants and Allin is sent outside, followed by some stomping back inside. We take a break and come back with Allin hitting a suicide flip dive but a charge in the corner is countered into a sleeper. Allin tries to climb the rope but gets caught in the Tree of Woe for his efforts. The Cannonball only hi..

He Earned It: WWE Announces Special Tributes To Rey Mysterio For 20th Anniversary

He’s worth the time. There have been a lot of wrestlers in WWE over the years but only a few have reached the top tier. Those wrestlers are legends, with some of them being legends in their own time. It can be a lot of fun to see them active once they reach that level. We are seeing that today, and now WWE is dedicating a lot of time to one of those stars. WWE has announced the Month Of Mysterio, centered around Monday July 25 marking 20 years since Mysterio’s WWE debut. The month will include original videos on Mysterio’s career, comments from his peers and a special look at some of his masks. There will also be classic videos and rare photos released on WWE’s social media channels. Mysterio and his son Dominik are scheduled to confront Judgment Day next week on Monday Night Raw. Opinion: Rey might not have been on hot as he has been in recent weeks, but there is no denying just how great he has been over his career. Someone his size should not be able to do the things that he does ..

Surprise Return Takes Place On NXT As Recent Clues Are Explained

So that’s what it meant. There are a variety of ways to bring a wrestler to television, whether it is a new star or someone making their debut. This means there can be multiple ways to go, many of which can be rather creative. That was the case again this week, as a star made her return after a lengthy absence and a series of mysterious vignettes on NXT. To make it even better, she hit the ground running. Zoey Stark made her return to NXT this week, marking her first match since October of last year. She was a surprise entrant in a #1 contenders battle royal and went on to win the match, earning a Women’s Title match against Mandy Rose. Stark had been out of action with a torn ACL and had only made limited appearances during her absence. Over the last few weeks, a series of QR codes had appeared to reveal clues about a returning star. During Starks’ entrance, commentary confirmed that the clues had been about Stark. Opinion: Stark seemed to be the logical conclusion to the clues and ..

A Weird NXT Situation: One Tag Team Title Is Vacated But The Other One Isn’t

That’s not good for the title. Championships have been one of the most important things about the wrestling world for a very long time and that will probably always be the case. Someone wanting to win a championship and be on top is a very logical concept and something that any fan can understand. Now though, some titles could be in a place they don’t go to very often. Last week on NXT, Cora Jade turned on Roxanne Perez, despite the two of them being the reigning NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. This week, Jade said that she was done with Perez for good and dropped her title belt in a trash can. WWE.com’s roster page now lists Perez as one half of the champions with the other title vacant. There is no word on how Perez’s new partner will be chosen. Opinion: Something like this had to happen and I’m curious to see about where this is going. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the titles dropped for the time being, but what might make sense is to have some WWE teams get involved in going aft..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Has A Problem With Summerslam

Maybe they should fix that. We are less than two weeks away from Summerslam and most of the card is already set. There are a lot of matches that need to go well for the card to be a success and that potential is certainly there. What matters now is executing the plan that WWE has set up, but it seems that someone rather important might not be pleased with what they are doing. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, a WWE source said that the company does not really like the Summerslam card. There is no word on any changes that WWE might make to Summerslam or if they are going to try to adjust what is already on the card. At the moment, the show has eight matches announced. Summerslam will take place on Saturday July 30 in Nashville, Tennessee. In the most WWE of ways, I had a source tell me this morning “they really don’t like the SummerSlam card” “They” being the people who put it together. Um, what?! — WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) July 19, 2022 Opinion: Where do you start..

Major Update On Kenny Omega’s AEW Return And What He Will Be Doing

They might have a plan. There have been some very talented wrestlers coming through AEW throughout its history and that has been a major source of its success. The company has thrived due to the wrestlers that it has, with some of its biggest stars being among the best names in the world. Now one of those names that has been gone for a long time now might be on his way back. Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega has not wrestled since November November 13, 2021 when he lost the World Title to Hangman Page. Omega has since undergone a series of surgeries to deal with a variety of injuries. According to Fightful Select, Omega is near a return to the ring, likely for a six man tag team story at All Out in September. It is not clear if this will involve the introduction of the long rumored Trios Titles. Opinion: You had to know that Omega was going to be back at some point, though I would certainly hope that it isn’t for the Trios Titles. I know those are probably going to be introduced ..

WOO-No! Ric Flair Announces He Suffered An Injury During Training For Last Match

That might slow things down. Later this month, Ric Flair will wrestle his final match at an event appropriately called Ric Flair’s Last Match. The announcement of the match earlier this year brought up a variety of questions, including if Flair’s health would allow him to wrestle such a match. Now we know that things are starting to go badly for Flair, who is already a bit banged up. During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Flair revealed that he has suffered plantar fasciitis in his left foot which is causing him to have difficulty training. However, the match is still scheduled to take place as scheduled, with Flair saying that he would deaden the bottom of his foot if he had to in order to make the match happen. Flair’s match is scheduled to take place in Nashville, Tennessee on July 31 when he teams with Andrade El Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. Opinion: This is one of those things that is going to happen at some point, but thankfully it seems that the injury is min..
