New IC Champion at WrestleMania 33?

Source: NoDQ.com and Wrestling Observer Newsletter

”The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin’s rise to the top of the Smackdown Live Roster will continue at WWE WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, as he’s set to fight ”The Lunatic on the Loose” Dean Ambrose with WWE Intercontinental Championship up for grabs at ”The Showcase of the Immortals”.

At WWE Smackdown Live’s exclusive Elimination Chamber 2017 pay-per-view, Corbin was involved in the Chamber Match for the WWE Championship up for the taking and had an impressive outing. However, his stint in the match was somewhat short-lived, as Corbin was caught off guard by Dean and eliminated via pinfall after a roll-up.

Following his elimination, Corbin refused to leave the squared circle quietly. After beating down Ambrose to a pulp, Corbin tossed The Lunatic Fringe through the Plastic Glass of a Chamber pod, followed by his finishing move ‘End of Days’ on the mat, leading to Ambrose’s immediate elimination at the hands of the self-proclaimed ”The A-Lister” The Miz from the bout.

Two nights later on WWE Smackdown Live, Ambrose was seen looking for Corbin, surely blaming him for his own elimination from the Chamber match. Not being able to find Corbin, Ambrose requested a match with his old buddy-turned-foe ”Turtle without a Shell” James Ellsworth.

Smackdown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan booked the match for the later part of the night. However, as Dean was heading towards the ring to face James, he got jumped and attacked by Corbin backstage and was dragged out to the pyro-technical area for more damage.  Corbin nailed Ambrose with a ‘Deep-Six’ move to knock Ambrose out cold, checking Ambrose’s rear end directly into a local medical facility.

Both men cost the other their chance at the WWE Title at Elimination Chamber and seem destined for an Intercontinental Title match in the near future.

According to the WON, Corbin will soon receive the Intercontinental Championship as “a stepping stone to be moved up to the top of the card for the SmackDown brand”.
