The original plan. We are in the middle of the holiday season and that means things can go a little bit different in WWE. This includes taping some shows in advance so the wrestlers can have a bit of time off. WWE did just that this week as they taped a pair of SmackDowns on the same night. However, things were not quite as they were planned, with one wrestler missing the event.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: A Way To Go: WWE Hall Of Famer Thinks 44 Year Old Could End Retirement Soon

This week’s edition of SmackDown aired live and was focused around an upcoming tag match between Roman Reigns/Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens/a partner of his choosing. The end of the show saw John Cena revealed as Owens’ partner, though Owens never appeared. According to Fightful Select, Owens was originally scheduled to appear on the show and introduce Cena as his partner in person. However, Owens was forced to miss the show due to what was described as a “nightmare travel situation”. Owens and Cena are scheduled to team up on the December 30 SmackDown.

Owens is worth waiting on. Check out what he can do when he is around:

Opinion: This is something that can happen from time to time and there isn’t much that can be done to stop it. Owens appeared to be trying to make the show but he was held up by something that seems to have been outside of his control. Maybe he can have a video inserted into next week’s SmackDown, but at the very worst, the December 30 show will be a big enough deal.
